  • In this lesson, you will learn basic words and phrases that will get you talking fast! Are you starting your journey towards speaking English? Maybe you feel frustrated at wanting to join in conversations and not being able to talk. I will teach you how to give congratulations, welcome people, give thanks, accept an offer, and say sorry in different contexts. Some expressions you will learn are “cheers”, “Well done, you”, “Make yourself at home, “It’s on me”, “I don’t mind”, “Please don’t worry”, “Don’t mention it”, “It’s not a problem”, and more. I will show you when and how to use these expressions, and then, we will practise together. You should also practise further by doing the quiz after watching. www.engvid.com...

      Hi. What I would recommend doing is going to www.EngVid.com and going to the menu of lessons - select 'All lessons', then select 'beginner' and then choose the topics that are of most interest and then choose the teachers.

      Everyone has an accent, the goal is to communicate clearly so that your accent does not stop people from understanding what you have to say.

    As always i took the quiz before watching the video. I got 10/10. However i hadn't known few of them. I answered correctly just because the other answers didn't match at all.
    For example: "Dig in".I thought that phrasal verbs are not usually used in formal speaking. Or "after you" I would have rather use "Please, go ahead" than "after you". I haven't known that it can be used it in this way.
    Ok. Thank you very much Benjamin for this useful, though moving basics, lesson ;)
    I wish all the best to everyone who reads this comment.
    Ps. if i made any mistake in my comment, please don't hesitate to correct me. I would appreciate.

    • @engvidBenjamin
      @engvidBenjamin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      'Dig in' is not formal; but people speak informally a lot of the time. Yes, 'after you' works.
