    you never included fuel charges, carbon footprint by BRTS system, any transport based on crude oil will keep our economy dependent on other countries. India should aim to achieve energy sufficient status and do electrification most of its transport system.

    Compliments on the excellent video production with a good commentary to boot. How far the scheme may work is a big question. There has to be a sea change in people's mindset to go for public transport in place of the personal vehicle. What happens to those who have invested in cars/bikes? Will they be prepared to discard them in favour of the BRTS buses? That seems most unlikely. So long as there is no reduction in the number of cars on roads, one cannot expect much improvement in the traffic situation. As it is, Chennai is in the throes of traffic chaos in spite of buses, electric trains, MRTS and the Metro Rail, all of which constitute public transport. Two wheelers are considered the most manoeuvrable form of transport on narrow roads. In any event, save and except the major arterial roads, the rest of them are so narrow that there is hardly any scope for expansion of BRTS routes. So at best, BRTS can only be an adjunct to the existing modes of transport but no great results can be expected therefrom.

      Thank you 🙏 I was busy with my official works so unable to use social media like Fb, twitter and TH-cam as well. Reg. Kilambakkam bus stand - soil test is the part of feasibility study. Feasibility report will be given end of this year and next year DPR will be prepared. After DPR, state & central need to allocate the funds for same
      Which will take 2 to 3 years to start work

      We can’t blindly say that all people’s are crazy. May be few peoples are there. To make a fool proof simply cover Barry gates and cover the roads so that accidents can be avoided

    I have a few concerns about BRTS in Chennai:
    1.How can we construct BRTS on roads which are not broad, like Arcot road, Usman road and Sardar Patel Road,? If 2 lanes are allocated to BRTS, other vehicles will have less space. Already between T Nagar bus terminus and Panagal park flyover, two lanes are service lanes and only 2 lanes are available. Where is space for BRTS here?
    2. Saidapet to Mahindra City seems redundant, since there is already Electric train and metro train will be extended upto Kilambakam Bus stand. Maybe the BRTS can run from Mahindra city upto Tambaram, Chromepet or Airport. From Chromepet, there would be direct BRTS link to OMR.

Saidapet to Mahindra city - the crowd will be more than the capacity of EMU and metro as it cross many congested areas like Guindy, Airport, Chromepet, Tambaram, Kilambakkam bus stand, Vandalore zoo, Sriram IT park, Guduvancherry, SRM university, Maraimalai Nagar Industrial Area, Mahindra city. More over BRTS will have bus stop in each 600 mtrs
