The "GOAL" to "CP1" to "F" was just fantastic. Genuinely amazing level even if that was their hundredth but for a first level?! They should take up being a game dev.
That Koopa at 13:25 was the most brilliantly timed troll I’ve ever seen. We went from fish meta, to second fish meta, to barrage of fish meta, and this level takes it even further
Carl should make a troll level under an alt account, then play it, then purposefully fall for every troll, comment how this level maker is brilliant, then at the end the level slowly reveals who the real maker is, and Carl acts super interested and makes all sorts of guesses, and even holds a poll about who the real maker is, only for it to turn out to be him, and then he turns to the audience and reveals he had them all fooled.
Man, I never laugh really hard in these videos, but that sequence of falling fish and the koopaling at the door had me in tears laughing, that was soooooo good.
Goddamn the set-up for that CP1 was amazing. Level creator went out of their way to make a fakeout ending, with a fakeout CP1 and an altered Kingbling troll, but then made a second more brutal fakeout that made Carl think he was getting CP1'd, only to not take the obvious route and make him think he wasn't, but then going through this winding process to show him his fate.
I love that this level continued the (very much hopeful) trend of making Troll Levels that have Carl fall next to a pipe where he is too impatient and holds right too soon and enters it XD
These trolls feel like good old trolls. - Train player to do 1 thing, and then mess it up the 3rd time - Disrespect - GUTS for CP1 Please continue to create more troll levels E>
I would absolutely LOVE some Carl Souls! Nothing is better than watching somebody new enter the franchise and suffer through the beginning, until they overcome it! haha
Malevolent idea from watching larlbad jump into the same trap twice: Have the switch state flipped during the benevolent not CP 1. When you enter the room on the next life the switch autoflips back so the section plays as normal, but store the fact that it was flipped with item spawns. If you get caught in the trap twice in a row the switch flips again before you can leave so you get a twice-twice of the trap now taking you to CP 1 for real. Since the state would be reset if you died any other way, you'd only get sent back if you fall for the exact same troll twice in a row.
Carl you know the three ring of marriage right? The engagement ring, the wedding ring, and the SUFFERING! Gotta love early 2000s humor, when it was funny to hate your wife
I think this genuinely is someone's first level. The Carlbox arrangement before CP2 is a great example- a more experienced creator would not have done that single-level mindgame. (The other psychological tricks are either the standard "twice twice" stuff or not commonly used, and the technology and setups are able to be copied from other levels- that's basic research.) P.S. I'm not a troll creator (nor the person who made this level), but with the note I made here I would do that setup but instead of having the fish fall everywhere but the box, I would do everywhere except _either immediately left or right of_ the box.
Yo, as a troll level connoisseur and general nerd, I think you'd love Dark Souls. The bizarre twists on dark fantasy plus all the little design decisions to nudge or trick or just teach the player are together an unforgettable experience. I'd be stoked to watch!
That GOAL -> CP1 -> F sequence was brilliant! Also, you definitely should play Dark Souls! It's the closest thing to a single player D&D game we've ever gotten. It is also best played absolutely blind*. And by blind asterisk I mean it's a game that's meant to be played semi-cooperatively, in my opinion. It's the kind of game you want to ask your friends for help with, not the internet. Talking about it with my friends and helping people out with it evokes a feeling I never really get in the modern day, of talking to other kids on the playground about the games you're playing, and trying to help each other with the best advice and tips and secrets you have. Your older brother told you to do x, I found this secret in y, etc. So if you have someone you consider a friend that you can turn to who can give you small bits of advice when you need them, once you do start playing Dark Souls I'd reach out to them and they'll probably be excited to help you through it if you need it. Before Elden Ring, I always suggested Dark Souls exclusively as the title you should play if you want to start tackling Fromsoft's game library. But now, I can give equal recommendation to Dark Souls and Elden Ring.
Instead of an anti-softlock, someone should make an anti-CP1 - a tough but fair challenge where you have a miniscule chance of avoiding the CP, but an almost guaranteed return to the CP.
7:10 there's nothing more funny than carl trolling himself, what a lovely friend i am pretty sure one day we'll get an entire normal level where carl will somehow galaxy brain himself into trolling himself when he can just do it the seemingly intended way
the twister/blowy joey level didn't depend on timing, it depended on vertical momentum. When you had too little downward momentum, you got stuck in it; when you had too much, you emerged too low to get into the next twister. Maybe the timing of the twisters moving back and forth mattered a little, but it was mainly the vertical momentum thing.
Without spoiling anything for the Souls series: it doesn't have a difficulty setting, but you can make it a lot harder or easier depending on whether you want to just grind fighting a boss, or go look for stuff to get stronger. Each of the games gives you resources that, with understanding of the mechanics, allow you to progress with basically no skill if you want. Someone even beat all the bosses in Elden Ring by doing a challenge where he couldn't roll or strafe dodge at all, only trade hits...and while that took a lot of setup, it's possible. So YMMV, if you want to practice bosses until they can't hit you, it's an option and can be fun. If that's not your jam, you can improve your build until you don't need to (with various approaches that will work). They're not easy games by any means, but there are harder out there (nothing in any of the souls games required more practice than I needed to beat absolute radiance at end of pantheon in Hollow Knight)...the fact that you beat Celeste's optional content tells me that you could even be one of those "beat the game at level 1" type players if you really want to.
I'm glad carl taught me how to play troll levels with his cosmic brain. Now I know to always successfully predict one troll and then fail to react and get bodied.
Oh it's driving me mad that Carl never learned the easy way to avoid the blue skull platform at the beginning, and therefore never fell for the twice twice troll there.
On ESL 53, I think you need two loop-de-loops. You managed without this maneuver, but follow me here. Let's say you were having a worse day, and couldn't help but leave each Twister going up fast (whether by wind alone, or by wind and jumping). So to avoid spikes, you'd need to exit the Twisters' funnels fast, which requires you to first enter them fast. But there's not enough room between Twisters to maintain this speed; what's missing is you have to go left. So up-right, left, down-right, except probably curvier.
I don't just say this as a fan of dark souls, but as someone whose a fan of lots of different games. Dark souls has to be one of the greatest game series of all time & I hope you get the chance to play it. Not only has it led fromsoft to create some other great games (bloodborne/sekiro/elden ring..code vein?) It's also inspired other devs, both big & small, to adopt the fromsoft combat system.. God of War, Nioh, Zelda..even heckin Star Wars. They all recently piggybacked off the greatness that is dark souls. I say recently because GoW & zelda were great before the adoption. But even the literal game-changing combat of dark souls is just a fraction of what made dark souls a certified masterpiece.
I got to know this channel through my ex. Your videos are immaculate. So funny and entertaining. Also some brainfood with keeping up with your thoughts. :) My ex never reads comments. i can't thank you enough, dear someone, who i don't know anymore and never will ever again.
yes, you playing darksouls blind would be great. Elden ring is definitely the most accessible but i guess you should start at the start ;) Please put it on YT if it happens 🙌
As much as I would like to see Carl playing dark souls I can't see it being a good idea. I mean how many times does he die to a fish? Now how many times is he going to die to a basilisk?
i would watch the hell out of a souls series playthrough by carl. rack the whole thing up from demons souls remake and run em through in release order. the only tricky question is regular ds2 vs scholar of the first sin. sotfs runs better, still has supported multiplayer, & a number of improved features, but the revised enemy placements are worse for fun, worse for lore, worse for difficulty curve, and all around make for a worse single player experience. its not so bad if you're playing co-op the whole way through, but otherwise...
I hope carl reads this, but if you decide to play dark souls and elden ring, could you upload them to youtube? I dont have much time to watch twitch but i watch every youtube video you upload. Keep it up 👍
Did you know that Spiderman has a winter jacket made entirely of Mediterranean flat bread?
It's a Pita Parka.
Okay, that was a good one!
I'd be goblin that up
I heard Mary Jane is quite sweet.
Just imagining Carl coming up with these long-form puns in the lab while he's supposed to be curing a disease or something XD
That jacket is the real reason Norman figured out who Spiderman was.
A kaizo block that doesn’t kill you, right at the start of the level, is a warning, not benevolence.
A benevolent warning, if you will.
It perfectly sets up the ice block + spring right before CP1 because Larl gets used to yolo jumping the opening pit a thousand times.
The "GOAL" to "CP1" to "F" was just fantastic. Genuinely amazing level even if that was their hundredth but for a first level?! They should take up being a game dev.
fr it was so good
Troll makers spend dozens of hours making elaborate trolls, then at 2am they're like "what if I just drop another fish on them 😂"
And then another fish. Ooo, and then a Koopaling!
What I really love about this level isn't how it trolls you, but what it does to rub it in after it has already trolled you. That's the real humour.
That Koopa at 13:25 was the most brilliantly timed troll I’ve ever seen. We went from fish meta, to second fish meta, to barrage of fish meta, and this level takes it even further

I don't think Carl is that good of an actor
Trollception
The meta troll meta is getting pretty wild
@@thorjelly What acting? He can make it and then not play it on stream until 1 month later. He'll fall for every troll!
This has been happening the whole time, the big reveal that Stevo was Carl all along just hasn't happened yet
Best level of the year. That fish room alone is perfection.
Starting at 12:55, that whole sequence was just fantastic! 😂
Man, I never laugh really hard in these videos, but that sequence of falling fish and the koopaling at the door had me in tears laughing, that was soooooo good.

This is one of the best levels I've seen. Absolutely unbelievable this was made by a new creator.
Carl talking about playing the soulsborne games made me realize that Stevo really is the Patches of Mario Maker
man I don't comment often but this level was amazing I laughed so much, definitely top 10 I've seen you play
I love that this level continued the (very much hopeful) trend of making Troll Levels that have Carl fall next to a pipe where he is too impatient and holds right too soon and enters it XD
These trolls feel like good old trolls.
- Train player to do 1 thing, and then mess it up the 3rd time
- Disrespect
- GUTS for CP1
Please continue to create more troll levels E>
11:00 the unending spaghetti factory that Larl Souls would be is something I absolutely need in my life
12:54 is just great for being keyed out and used as a reaction to any troll 😄
I wonder of there's ever been like a full on Troll escape room puzzle level. That idea seems like it has potential.
Troll levels are puzzle levels that want you dead
Carl made one in the "Carl vs Grand Poo Bear" challenge.
I would absolutely LOVE some Carl Souls! Nothing is better than watching somebody new enter the franchise and suffer through the beginning, until they overcome it! haha

i like how the end screen completely covers up the right side of the screen in the outro
11:15 Nice job editor. Made that part so much better.
Carl you know the three ring of marriage right? The engagement ring, the wedding ring, and the SUFFERING!
Gotta love early 2000s humor, when it was funny to hate your wife

Please do make a DS playthrough sometime! It has many trolls that fit your content very much xD
That rejection at 8:25 was so smooth
Absolutely disgusting cp1, love it
I always laugh when Carl talks at length about how a troll will work....and then it's literally nothing
2:23 Okay that timed perfectly. 😂🤣
I seen it on Geek’s video.
That Evil Short Level somehow reminds me of first screen of level 5C from Celeste.
That GOAL -> CP1 -> F sequence was brilliant! Also, you definitely should play Dark Souls! It's the closest thing to a single player D&D game we've ever gotten. That CP1 sequence was exceptional
I would watch a DS playthrough. Especially the Blight Town, Gutter, Farron Keep parts.
11:17 convenient green screen from the game
This is the best debut level since Mario Commits Key Die (MarbleKing).
Instead of an anti-softlock, someone should make an anti-CP1 - a tough but fair challenge where you have a miniscule chance of avoiding the CP, but an almost guaranteed return to the CP.
I've seen a few of those watching Carl. He always hit's the CP, no matter how easy it is to avoid it.
Here I was innocently wondering what I would have with my bowl of spaghetti, but Carl provided the answer in due time 🤣🤣
7:10
there's nothing more funny than carl trolling himself, what a lovely friend
i am pretty sure one day we'll get an entire normal level where carl will somehow galaxy brain himself into trolling himself when he can just do it the seemingly intended way
It's a old one ... ( Geek play it a long time ago ...) It's Always a plasur to see another player do it why another mind 😁
That unlimited feesh room is fantastic lmao

Glad Carlsagan42 has avoided the Established Titles scam sponsor.
woke both kids up level of laughed out loud for the fish
Best CP1 I've seen in a long time!
The GOAL -> CPI -> F text was genius
13:13
Comedy gold!

Carl Souls would be a delight
Watching Carl get "trolled" by some of Dark Souls' ambushes would be awesome!
The “grab vine” bit was genius
I'm glad carl taught me how to play troll levels with his cosmic brain.
Now I know to always successfully predict one troll and then fail to react and get bodied.
carl wouldnt have called that falling fish that was perfectly timed garbo if someone he knew made it.
How did he make the flagpole disappear
I love relatable thumbnails.
Oh it's driving me mad that Carl never learned the easy way to avoid the blue skull platform at the beginning, and therefore never fell for the twice twice troll there.
Carl: CALM DOWN
Level: Nnnnoooo (Bugs Bunny voice)
25:00 this looks like a recipe for another Bean Burrito level...
This level is what people who don't like Mario think Mario is like.
13:16 is flawless
Intro: 6:40-6:45 + 7:09-7:12 + 8:13-8:15 + 12:05-12:07.
I’d watch every minute of Souls content
Carl, I’m definitely here for a Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Elden Ring series.
carl playing DS would be the dream.
That was the best goddamn cp1 ever
We’d love to see you play the souls games !!

Blind Dark Souls playthrough would be amazing.
20:35 that noice sequence tho
2:20 That was THE BEST!!!! xD !!!!!
*Peter Griffin has joined the chat*
I VOTE YES ON THE DARK SOULS BLIMD PLAYTHROUGH
I don't just say this as a fan of dark souls, but as someone whose a fan of lots of different games. Dark souls has to be one of the greatest game series of all time & I hope you get the chance to play it.

What happened to the level Carl said he'd make for Geek? Will there be a video about it? Is it live on Geek's channel? What's the name?
Carl made spiked Toadette for Thanksgiving
Carl playing Dark Souls. Now that'd be interesting to watch. 🤔
Garbage Prevention Pit. You down with GPP? Yeah you know me!
I got to know this channel through my ex. Your videos are immaculate. So funny and entertaining.
Also some brainfood with keeping up with your thoughts. :)
My ex never reads comments. i can't thank you enough, dear someone, who i don't know anymore and never will ever again.
Since Carl brings the subject of Megaman X music up, what's your favorite?
For me, I have to say Storm Eagle from MMX1.
5:58 There were a pipe behind the launchers
Should start with a clip of thousands of Carl heads in Koopa troopa bodies going to war.
You'd probably like dark souls tbh, since you brought it up. It has trolls
Ngl I live for Carl Souls
How did the flag appear delayed???!
It was when you stopped twirling that you got spiked… you were second guessing yourself…
yes, you playing darksouls blind would be great. Elden ring is definitely the most accessible but i guess you should start at the start ;)
Please put it on YT if it happens 🙌
As much as I would like to see Carl playing dark souls I can't see it being a good idea. I mean how many times does he die to a fish? Now how many times is he going to die to a basilisk?
8:05 could you frame 1 out of a pipe pull a 💣 to break the wall on the right?
What happened after Larry????!!
Is this not the legendary run where Carl beat dgr? It is.
@CarlSagan42 Will we see you playing Elden Ring or Dark Souls 3? :D
Jeez gameplay Carl????
Somebody send the Bloseph level to Panga.
Carl what subject are you teaching?
i would watch the hell out of a souls series playthrough by carl. rack the whole thing up from demons souls remake and run em through in release order.
