Was just talking with my coworker about this. We work for Sportsmans Warehouse and there is a Howa there I'm looking to pick up. We thought the 2 piece rail looked odd at first, but we confirmed through our rings and base system that the Warne 2 piece base kit you have is correct! You have great timing with your videos, just what we need right when we need it!
Which scope rings are y’all using for that 2piece Warne base kit? I bought some that had a recoil block but it didn’t fit the ridges of the base kit because it was too thick. If anyone knows which scope rings fit let me know please, thank you guys!
Thanks for the video man I been searching all day cause when I put mine on my howa 6.5cm I felt like I did not do it right cause the way they hang over a little but there def right and the short and long screws had me for a few minutes also but got that fig out to ……… I used vortex rings on mine worked fine
Nice finds! I own the same Howa in 243 stainless. Great value for money here in Australia! Shoots Rem Cor Lokts 3/4 groups at 100. Topped with a leupold VX3HD low power scope, it certainly puts food on the table! It is a bit heavy for some people but the construction is solid and has never missed a beat! Highly recommend if you’re on a budget!
For those that don’t know Legacy Sports International the guys that imports Howa makes one piece pic rails specifically for the Howa on their website.perfect fit and doesn’t exceed the action length like the Leupold does. There only $19 and a lot cheaper then other one pieces mount that may not fit correctly. Both are available in short/long and 0 moa or 20 moa rails. As for 2 piece mount I have Burris XTB-700/7 rev mounts on mine and they fit perfectly.
WhoTeeWho, I have had my Howa 1500 Game King Combo with Nikko-Stirling scope in .270 Win. I upgraded mine with a kit to take 5 and 10 round mags and added a bipod....shoots fantastic just as well as my Tikka T3 .270 Win with Steiner Glass fir 1/4 the cost. Thanks sir!
My Superlite has been a shooter. I went Talley one pieces, but I like those split rails too. The Superlite has a different bolt pattern, which is different from the mini action and the standard 1500s.
love my howas. shoot awesome and accurate as hell limited lifetime warranty. and howa makes all vanguards barrels. if weatherby likes howa you should too
The vanguard is made by Howa. Just a little better fit and finish to meet Weatherby’s standards. That being said the last 5 years or so Howa sales have really picked up as well as the quality of the rifles that carry their name. The vanguard is a good bang for your buck the Howa is a awesome bang for your buck. The only real difference between the two is Weatherby has a different bolt shroud and knurling on the bolt knob.
Pretty sure the vanguard are not made by howa but a licensed design purchased from howa and manufactured by weatherby. (Same as the s&w 1500 in it’s day)
@@DrewEdwardBacklas made by Howa , made in Japan printed in the barrel. Weatherby might assemble them now. But that’s not making it. And Weatherby doesn’t have a production plant in Japan. If the did you could buy a mark five cheap.
ATEK builds the Mark V barreled actions in Minnesota. Howa builds the Vanguard barreled actions in Japan. I believe Weatherby fits the stocks to both in Wyoming.
Talley (and others) makes a great set of ring bases all in one. Light weight and less of a chance for stuff to move since you eliminate a movement point between the rail and rings with the scope bases. I set them up with an alignment bar/ scope ring lapping set and do a light lapping of the rings and they’ve all come out great. I really like the Talley light weight 2- piece rings for my hunting rifles.
I added a mag conversion to my 1500 in 223. Hated the top loading/unloading ofvthe base plate. We don't have big expanses, usually small fields, pack up and go to the next, safety and laws we unload everything. Working on a boyds stock pillar and glass bedded. Thing shoots
Thanks for all of your videos. I'm just about to pull the trigger on a LEGACY HOWA M1500 .243 WIN - 5+1 Rounds, 22" Barrel, Walnut Stock from Bud's. This video and the links are a great help.
I have the dual DT Leupold mounts on my 270 and Warne mounts on my mini action x39..I had to upgrade the triggers to Timney and the stocks to a B&C ...Howa also sells big bolt knobs for a couple $ on their site, much better than the tiny factory knob.
I just bought a Howa super lite and cannot find a two-piece Weaver-style base that will fit it. What do you know or recommend that I can use on my Howa super lite?
My Howa 1500 wouldn't shoot sub moa until after I free floated the barrel, glass bedded the stock, and changed the trigger to a Timney. The factory trigger pull on Howa is ridiculously heavy, but no rifle at that price point is flawless..
Same here.. I hated the factory stocks and triggers, especially the stamped safety lever, it drove me nuts!..I bedded B&C kevlar stocks with JB weld and replaced the triggers with Timneys ...they are badass solid and shoot awesome now.
I’d like to argue that the Bergara B-14’s are pretty close to flawless for the price point! Nice trigger out of the box. Already free floating. Some models feature a bedded chassis in the stock already. Only flaw I can find is most models are heavy but that’s due to Bergara using heavier than average barrel tapers.
@@chevyon37s Bergara B-14s are decent value, but they're not at the same price point as the Howa M1500 I purchased for $530. I realize that both brands offer models higher in quality and price, and generally we get what we pay for, but I have yet to find a Bergara B-14 in the $500 price range that isn't a rimfire. If anything, my Howa's price point is equivalent to the Ruger American or Mossberg Patriot.
Have you seen the DNZ game reaper one piece scope mount have been converting all mine over to these highly recommend anyone needing rail and rings to check out there 1 piece set up
@@WHOTEEWHO Does Howa use the Mini-Action and Short-Action names in their 1500 Series interchangeably? If they do, they shouldn't. Their rifles are great, but their website isn't very informative.
I also like Howas. I have two, a heavy barreled 308 set in a Bravo stock and a 300 win mag with a threaded #4 contour barrel in a B&C stock. The 300 WinMag is a barreled action from Brownells. With the help of TH-cam, I was able to get the trigger pulls down to a pound and a half, but have set them both at a less scary 2 pounds. The 300 has a Talley pic rail .You should have no problems feeding from the top with that rail. When I was searching for a rail for my 300 I was presented with the same information as you that Remington 700 rail would fit the Howa but being the skeptic that I am I called Warne and Talley to ask them about it, and was told by both that even though the Remington rail would fit that there were some slight differences so I decided to go with the Talley. I can’t remember what the differences were and it might just be marketing but I know that those two companies along with EGW, make rails specifically for Wetherby Vanguard/HOWA rifles.
The one piece rails are better for strength. We don't reccomend 2 piece bases as it is a lot harder to make sure you align them correctly and don't bend your optic
But the rails introduce another connection point and potential movement point. It’s so easy to align scope rings/ bases with a lapping bar or alignment kit/tool. which you should still be aligning your rings that way on a rail mount too. A lot of the cheaper rails are cast pieces that still may have alignment issues too. And still have to make sure the rings are pushed forward on the rail while tightening. I’ve never needed a stronger scope mount, even on magnum rifles with heavy optics.
@@chevyon37s correct about lapping on cheaper mounts that are not bedded We have repaired a lot of actions where a thread has been pulled out because the rifle was dropped with a large scope on the rifle. 1 piece bases are generally better

Weaver Remington 700 makes them to. 2 piece. Bought them for my weatherby vanguard s2 7mm-08. Its a howa 1500. Got them both for 10 bucks
