You will need an A5 camera fitted already used for e.g. lane assist.

Hello, great video! I just finished the coding on a Canadian market 2017 Mk.7 Golf Alltrack. The coding went well, with no glitches. I can see the Dynamic Road Sign Recognition option in the central console in the Car-> Assistance systems menu. I can also see that the compass has moved from top centre of the dashboard to the bottom left and that the temperature display moved from bottom centre to bottom right of the dashboard. However, when I scroll through the Driving Data screen on the dashboard, when I reach the Road Signs sub-menu, I have a message that reads "No road signs available". Hence, when I drive, no road signs pop up on the dashboard. I suppose I do not have the right camera? Thanks again.

I owns a Škoda Octavia model 2023, but when I tried to turn it on Traffic Sign Recognition via OBD11 like on video. I could not turn on the TSR because via video instructions I can not find on my car via OBD11. Do you have experience with the new Skoda Octavia model 2023 and is it possible to post a video on how to turn on the TSR via OBD11. Thanks in advance
Not possible on the latest models with just obd11. Need VW servers for paramaterization as well

You'll need the right hardware, but there are extra steps required such as parameterization which is another security step requiring dealership software. Not possible with just obd11
@@laymandiy Thanks. I have the latest Golf Mk8 Life (1 month old) with all the required hardware (camera in windscreen etc). For some obscure reason only the vehicles sold in Europe and UK have this function enabled but not in Australia. Function can be enabled on a Mk7.5 but the same technique does not work on the Mk8. Dealer is not willing to do anything! Hence my interest in your method.
No module A5 in my 2018 RS3
I can’t understand why the VW groups decided to remove this really good feature 😮. I had it in my Ford Ranger it’s such a good feature!
They don't remove it. They just don't give it unless you pay for the upgrade.
@@laymandiy no, they don't give you also if you want to pay it. I have a Polo 2023 with all other ADAS but this is disabled. It is enabled in 2024 version.
Thanks for the great video. Got most of the way there but I am using VCDS and cannot see the first option traffic_sign_recognitiom in the adaptations menu. The next one shows and i can change this, i am thinking it might be called something different? Many thanks

I have 2014 version (TSR factory activated) and since it reads my Country, that does not have map traffic signs loaded, it does not work. I have it set as activated, but "not available in your location" error message on the dash. disabled VZA, but still nothing.
Unfortunately, tsr data needs to be loaded into the camera. For many countries this wasn't done. Unfortunately, you will not be able to get this functionality. However, if you drive through a country where it exists it will turn on
Thanks for the video, any idea how to do this (specifically last step) on MEB platform ? In my case the car recognizes the signs and shows a message saying I exceeded speed limit for example however the sign itself is not shown on the dash or HUD.
I'm sure it sure but it would be a trial and error with the bits.

Hi there great video, I just wanted to ask if this would work on an Audi Q3 2019. The car already has lane assist, Sat Nav and traffic recognition camera built in. The virtual cockpit has the option for traffic sign recognition but currently states not available when I switch to it. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Worked for me on my RS3 qas well! Thank you! I do however get a popup saying traffic sign restricted, consult manual. Any ideas if this is normal?
Multiple things, e.g. it doesn't have data for your country. Sometimes it's just you need to take it for a drive

Question, do you know if after I install OEM Blind Spot System it can be coded with OBDeleven? What are the steps?
If you don't have blind spot from factory then you're missing the mirrors and the 2 rear sensors that go into the bumper. You won't have be able to just code them in.

There's so many variables in this, like country, camera, 2020 is the year when parameterisation kicked in etc.. it's difficult to pinpoint without all this.

You need at least vcds hex-v2. Some countries don't have tsr. If it works in Germany there is nothing wrong with the setup. Maybe try trying the vze option in long coding (see video)
In A5 I don't have it. I've working Lane Assist with 5Q camera.

Unfortunately you need more tools on the newer models. But you can change mood lighting in the car. Not sure about the dash colours

@@lb1011 all I can say is give it a go. The camera recognises real traffic signs. Really useful for variable speed limits.

If you have the big camera (A5) then yes. Or if you already have lane assist.

@@laymandiy i see all of traffic signs, recognizing is perfect, but still this error. every time after 45 km/h or 5 minutes run. I'm from Israel. Maybe it need to write correct country number in par_country_code_RSR and Par_country_code_VZF ?

i have a new 2022 SEL Jetta. I followed all of your steps yet when I hit the start button I hear a din and the following message shows up on my dash. Error: Dynamic Road Sign Display. I double-checked all of my steps and it still shows up. It shows up in my MIB and the box is checked for Traffic Sign Recognition.
Take it for drive, if not then I'm afraid you also need camera parameterisation. It's a newer model thing.

I don't think it's possible at the moment without parameterization if camera which involves connection to the VW servers

Hi, I treid several times but without any luck. I'm using the IOS app and the car is a nov 2020 Kodiaq L&K. I have the A5 front camera, but my app only shows the "Car_Function_Adaptions_Gen" not Gen2. In the end I get an error message Road sign not availible. It took it for a ride but no change. Anyone ???
If you click on the control unit, go to the live data parameters check if you have "SFD activated status"
Unfortunately, newer cars, VW has put some security that obdeleven can circumvent but it's a bit of a hit and miss.

If you have the kit, follow the instructions. If your camera requires parameterization, it just won't work. Revert to original

Would love to, but lane assist is slightly more complicated as you need to have the right hardware installed and enabled. Unless you're talking about the "drunk" version of lane assist
I turned it on using OBDeleven but since mine does not have the control switch it is always on and activates on speed higher than 40mph.
I would agree to layman that it is mostly drunk version.😊

Hi, I have a Kamiq with Amundsen radio, ACC and lane assist. I have the camera and radar etc. Can this be done on my system taking into account its an Amundsen System? thanks
Is your lane assist adaptive? I.e. you have adaptive option which centres the car between the lines?
@@laymandiy not sure but the lane assist does automatically steer the car back to the lane if I don't touch the wheel. I don't think I have an option to change that to just notify of lane change. If I don't indicate, the car will try to steer its way back into the middle of the lane

Hi there, owner of a Tiguan tsi 245hp R line with the big camera. Tried to enable traffic sign recognition through the obd eleven app which costs 100credits, and while the app is scaning i get the message "function is not available". I could try going the long coding way but from what i see on the web nobody has succeded on activating traffic sign recognition on facelifted tiguans......there must be something that vw has done there.
Tried the long coding way, and there's nothing remotely similar as option to what's shown in your tutorial video or in other pages in the web. Vw must have changed something on newer >2021 Tiguans
Yes they have.. newer ones require parametrisation on the camera to enable the bits and adaptions on the obd11. Unfortunately it's out of scope for most people as it requires using official VW equipment with a dealer code.

I would say if it's a leased car then some eagle eyed ones may have an issue and say you modified the car. Never heard of an issue like that though.

Yes the last option of VZE / VZA I explain in the video which option to select. Ideally you want a hybrid where it shows maps signs and then it overwrites it with what it's picked up from the camera

I bought the OBDeleven PRO pack, and I can access the car and all the apps etc. When I try the first step with 5F/multimedia, car_function_list_BAP_Gen2 is not in the list. I have a 2022 Scala. Any ideas what might be wrong please?
Yes, so newer models are struggling with this. There is more security. Once it's been worked out, I'll post a new video. As it stands there is a step that you cannot do without vw involvement so stuck atm.
@@laymandiy Ah, I see. I couldn't use any of the apps either - they let me select "yes" but then failed to write after I ticked save. The credits were used then refunded. Was that also caused by the additional security?

I wouldn't touch the apps at all.. they are just a series of commands in a script, known to cause problems, because you don't know what exact changes it is doing. Up to you, it's a good diagnostic tool as well for all VW maybe help some locals out for a couple of quid here there and you've made your money back

You will most likely need to parameterization of the camera. If you have lane keep assist, you have the right camera.

I am aware but I'm not sure what diagnostic interface it uses. I would assume that it would be ford for service etc. Nonetheless even if it's VW, it wouldn't be possible since it would require parametrisation as well which is not possible with obd11

No, acc and front assist use only the radar. Generally sportline doesnt come with upgraded cameras.

Unfortunately this didn’t work for a 2022 Cupra Formentor (Australian version).
Unfortunately it only seems to work well with the first gen mqb hit and miss with the second gen (depending on hardware used) and doesn't work at all for Evo.
I have Cupra Formentor 2022 Europe, and i dont have traffic sign recognition, but i do have traffic signs on my nav. Can you tell me could i code it on virtual cockpit, at least i would like to have signs from nav read on cockpit?@@laymandiy

It's still possible. However there are extra steps outside of vcds to do, unfortunately.

Parameterisation of the hardware , you need to do it online direct with vw

Hi Laymandiy. Just a question. I have golf 7.5 1.5 tsi rline 2017 model with acc and front assist with blind spot mirrors and I have also virtual cockpit. But I dont have lane assist with traffic sign recognition. Do you think I can enable it with and make it work with ur instructions?
There isn't enough information here to determine. Front assist and acc doesn't mean you'll have TSR. The main thing is the camera given that you don't have lane assist or TSR already makes me think you don't have the right camera.

Don't think there is a third party part you can even use. Part should be easy to find, just find the parts catalogue online and look for the part number for a spec of vehicle that has it. Most likely will start with 5q0 ...

The effort involved in enabling this would not be worth the hassle if you're asking this question. Unfortunately they are not a simple plug and play device.
I tried this on my 2019 Audi A4 but it threw up an error. I’ve coded lane departure and it works fine, is there another way to do it?

Hello. I have a 2017 Audi Q7 and was wondering if I could do this. I do have the camera I believe but I don’t have the drivers assistance package so no lane keep and TSR etc, but I do believe I see a camera there. Would I need any other tools to do this? Thanks
Seems unlikely they'd install a camera if you have nothing that uses it. The camera is pretty big from the front of the windscreen you should see two notches, one is camera and the other is rain sensor. Sounds like you probably just have the rain sensor
@@laymandiy I did take a closer look and there is a camera there above the rain sensor. I did also look at my dads s5 which has drivers assistance and they look the same. It does make some sense from a manufacturing perspective to just make one assembly for all q7s so that maybe why it’s there. I do also have pre sense so that’s why it could be there. I’m not 100% sure if it is the right a5 camera I’ve seen mentioned and if it is will it require tweaking and coding I’m not willing todo to get the rest of the drivers assistance besides acc
There's two ways either obd11 it and do the changes see what pops up. Or detrim and check the model of the camera

Will this work for Audi A4 b9 MY2017, this one is with lane assist and I can see the camera behind the rearview mirror. If yes what kind of obdeleven should I buy, I can ses there are different versions available online. I'm in Australia.
This is for mqb platform you have MLB where the camera needs to be parameterised first followed by these codings on obd11 or vcds
@@laymandiy so is it possible for me to parameterized the camera? Or should I take my car to mechanic to do that? Sorry but all these terms are very new to me. I just googled the mqb vs mlb platform so got to know my car is on different plantform.
You can parameterise yourself if you know how, it's not as simple as what is shown in this video. You'll need to research and learn what's required the steps etc.. you can use VCP or ODIS plus you'll need the interface to connect to your car. Any old mechanic cannot do this you'll need to go to retrofit specialist.

Easiest would be the trim level you have. But if you look at the rear view mirror if the base it goes into isn't at least a handspan then you don't have the camera... Bear in mind there are 2 types of camera and the bigger one is the one you need

@@laymandiy hey thanks for replaying. Yes i have and its working. But when i drive past a speed limit with 60 and a line over (means the speed limit is 80) then it shows nothing. And whwn i drive it sometimes says «limited functionality» on my MFD display. What does that mean?
I am living in Norway btw.
Limited functionality means it hasn't picked up a road sign either from the camera or the maps data. Laws around speed on maps vary from country so it could be multitude of things. yh it might not have what that means. In the UK a kind of black and white no entry sign means national speed and it does pick that up on mine.

There are many variables here. For example if you're in country which doesn't allow it, or it cannot recognise the traffic signs in your country

also what version of OBD 11 do you have? as when i go to long coding and toggle to byte, i just get numbers, however the one in your video gives a description of what each one is?
It's not the version, it's the car. It dependant on obdeleven company putting descriptions for your car in the database.
My Kodiaq 2019 has Bolero infotaiment (no satnav). The car has A5 camera and lane assistance.
Does this procedure also works for my type of car?
You can try, but I think the bolero struggles with the fusion mode where as Columbus works out of the box and Amundsen has a better chance.

What is fusion mode? I run navi with my phone over Android Auto and USB and have no speed limit shown on instrument cluster (if this is fusion that you have mentioned). I just need that road sign that is read is shown at instrument cluster in front driver, but not on the Bolero.

I think you'd need to follow all the steps and flick between fusion / non. Fusion steps in to substittute map data

What model year is it?
@@laymandiy MY 2023 ( about to get one). This is the India Spec which doesn't come with Radar and camera based driver assistance package.
Unfortunately as it stands you cannot easily retrofit this on newer vehicles.
HI. I did the coding but until I find road signs it doesn't show me anything. shouldn't the limits of the navigator database go out when it doesn't detect signs? before it gave them to me on the navigator. Thank you

Gps and maps aren't the relevant items on this. The high line camera on the front is.. it needs to be there for it to detect traffic signs

@@laymandiy Both OBD and modules look a little different for me.
'Traffic sign recognition 0x21' (no underscores) is found under 'Vehicle function list BAP'
'Menu display road sign identification' is found under 'Vehicle menu operation'
When long coding, none of the bits are labelled.
On updating controller 17, byte 5, bit 2, I get the same 'Dynamic Road Sign Display Error' in the dash, so same coding seems to apply
Finally, on locating controller 5F, byte 24, bit 6, it was already unchecked, despite the fact that I have the display of Nav traffic signs activated. This makes me wonder if the coding should be different on this model?
The end result is that no traffic signs are displayed and I when I select the Road Signs in the dash, I get the 'Road Sign Display Error' message.
Any thoughts or advice you can offer?
@@garynicholson360 The slight renaming of things is poor admin from obd11 however the byte/bit may not have descriptions for your vehicle but if it's mqb platform you should be fine. As always it's advised to do a backup so you can revert to it. However similar names under a different adaption, I don't think would work. However this is the beauty, you can try it and revert if it doesn't.

I have an Audi Q3 F3 2019 without navigation and bought the dongle from Kufatec to enable traffic sign recognition. It is working, camera is reading traffic signs, but after 2 minutes I always get the same warning on the dashboard. "Traffic sign recognition is limited, please check your manual" or something like this. Although it doesn't cause any problems, it is very annoying every single time, 2 minutes after ignition to get the same warning. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the absence of navigation. Any recommendations to avoid this stupid warning? 🙂
Link to navigation isn't superficial. Try flicking the VZE parameter in long coding. Also silly question, is your windscreen clean.
The windscreen is crystal clear 🙂 I will try this, but as far as I have searched a lot of people have the same problem with me and noone has ever found a solution. I think the VZE parameter was unchecked
I can see why not having maps can be an issue. Would it be easier to add navigation?
No, it is almost impossible. I'll have to change the infotainment unit, change the wiring and then verify the new infotainment in an official AUDI service. And I forgot to tell you that AUDI says that I cannot make this upgrade 😛 dead-end!
