Nice video If you only modify one of the parts, what is the best way to proceed? Leaving the unmodified part in the first folder having the product have links through different folders?
Hi David, thanks for your question. Unlike some CAD systems that require the product and child parts to be saved into the same folder, CATIA doesn't actually care if you have this new part saved into a different folder (keep in mind, there is nothing preventing you from saving this new item into the same folder and lots of people will still try and abide by this method just to help keep file management a bit more organized). If something ever happens and CATIA can no longer find a part that has been referenced, it will bring up a warning box as soon as the product is opened and you can easily re-link the part file back to the product using Edit->Links or the File->Desk command.
