    This was a very helpful video. I don't know why some people have to post criticism about "tension between mr awkward and sleepy face" I came on here to learn something and I did. with that being said...Thank you for the information.

    Right off the start I can see that they don't know what they're doing. Running the engine for 30 seconds doesn't warm the oil up, and filling the oil passages means you'll get less oil out of the engine.

  • @TheCarxman
    @TheCarxman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    They should point out that the two o-rings are different and should not be interchanged. The fatter o-ring goes on the bottom groove of the cover and the thinner goes on upper. Pretty important stuff if you're doing a DIY video!!

  • @petetube2167

    Probably too late for some but DO NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER TO REMOVE THE OIL FILTER CAP. The screwdriver will easily cut into the cap and filter housing preventing a good seal. Trust me on this, use a plastic pry tool or an actual SEA-DOO OIL FILTER EXTRACTOR TOOL. I learned the hard way and had an oil leak.

    • @DonziGT230
      @DonziGT230 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Using the screwdriver can't cause a leak, even if you did gouge the cap and housing, the seals are well below the top surface so it won't matter.

    • @ramcatracer
      @ramcatracer 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, you could F it up when the cap is partially up. I had a little dried white paint on my screwdriver and it showed it was right next to top o-ring area, so close!
      HE SHOULD REDO THIS VIDEO!!!

    a little trick here my friend. on older skis take a regular pair of slip joint pliers and put them in large grip.
    you can then grab top of oil filter cap and pull it right off without prying with a screw driver.
    grab them in the bolt center and outer edge. also wipe tube before putting in engine.also when you do this for first time and get it right measure your tube when pulling out and from then on you will know how far. I do about 100-150 changes a year. ALSO LUBE ORINGS WITH OIL BEFORE PUTTING CAP BACK ON.

    Got to start the ski, recheck level and top off. Otherwise will end up low when filter fills.

    You instructed to run the engine for 30s to warm the oil but everywhere I can find online says to never run your sea doo for more than 15s out of water as it could cause damage. Is it really worth running it that long?

    • @krotchlickmeugh627
      @krotchlickmeugh627 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Youre talking about the difference between a 2 stroke and 4 stroke.
      But its recommended to always run your ski on the hose if longer than 15 seconds.
      The issue is the carbon seal needs to be lubricated when running and water does that

    • @italianfreek
      @italianfreek ปีที่แล้ว

      @@krotchlickmeugh627 running your machine on the hose does not cool the carbon seal, that’s why even running on a hose you want to avoid running very long or you can spray another hose on the carbon seal from the underside of you need to run for extended time

    Is there a rubber piece that fits into the oil filter cover? Not the 2 o-rings that go on the outside. Mine had a rubber piece that seems to fit in between the oil filter cover and the oil filter when put together. I looks like it could be a rubber piece that was on an oil filter at one time that was mistakenly forgotten.

    have a question. I have (2) 2012 Seadoo GTI 130’s. After riding a while on the ski we will kill the engine for a bit. When we go back to start it up. Nothing comes on. No computer no start. I will wiggle the fuse box wires and other wires a bit and Bam it’s starts! What is it??? Btw. Batteries are 3 years old. Btw. Both skis do this (the odds). ???

    • @greggmercado2701
      @greggmercado2701 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check for a loose ground wire near the fuse box, if you arent getting proper ground it wont start which is most likely why when you move the wires around it starts because the ground touches after wiggling

    Always start, run, shut off and recheck your oil level after an oil dump and refill. The new oil filter and chamber will take up some oil so a little more oil will need to be added. Filling your oil to the full mark let's you know for future oil checks if you've either lost or burnt up some oil possibly leading up to some extra service.

    You said you only get 2.5 quart of oil out. I just bought this see doo and the guy that sold it to me said the oil been in it for a while and it real bad looking. .. if you can only get that little out how can that be good on the engine? ??? Is there no way to get all the oil out????

    • @brandon7990
      @brandon7990 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you're worried about how bad the oil is, do an oil change, run it for about 30 seconds, then re-drain it and fill it a second time. This will insure you have fresh oil.

    • @stevenv2190
      @stevenv2190 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brandon7990 After the first batch of oil is removed, do a "flood start" of the ski for no more that ten seconds (full throttle while starting the ski - it will not run, just turn the engine). then attempt pumping again. did this twice and extracted nearly a quart of oil more total.
