With all the talk I’ve heard about CJ stroud I came here expecting to see him play horribly and honestly he played awesome. His receivers gave him no help this game my god
Same. Nobody played them as well as Michigan did (seemed to know what was coming at times) and neither INT was particularly concerning to me. I do think he really needs to stop checking down early though.
receivers gave him no help? our receivers are the predominant reason we had a winning season. It's not always the players on offense..When your defense is playing like shit and your coach is calling pop warner plays in an intense college football game, that ruins the momentum.
If this is what I get when I’m looking for “lowlights” on Stroud… man… dude was on target 95% of the time. Pics came on somewhat desperation plays on passes that hit receivers hands. Make your move, Colts! Go get him!
He has a great arm and makes accurate throws, release is fairly quick. He kind of shies away from any sign of contact, he still made the throws while doing so in this game, but that won't fly in the NFL. Sometimes makes off-balanced throws when it isn't necessary to do so. 7:43 he should have recognized the Seam throw pre-snap, should have dumped it off to the RB when nothing else was available....that entire play was his low-point of the game. He's still shouldn't fall out of the top 10
Watching this, I feel better about how he played. Threw the ball well. 1 TO worthy play. First half there were a lot of drops by his PCs. Would like him to speed his feet up in the pocket to get out faster instead of looking down field. 7 out of 10 game. A + game for scouting
I don't get it. Why people say CJ is trash? Honestly, most of his throws have great touch, accuracy and timing. He wasn't the reason of their loss vs Michigan although he took all the blame on the press conference as a great leader should. And you should know I'm not an Ohio State fan at all
He's a riskier pick. He has all time to throw in the pocket, he plays against crap defenses all year and is throwing to 4 first round legitimate wide receivers that not all teams have. He's also never facing much pressure. Think about the most successful QBs in the game right now, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Patrick was chased non stop in college, played with pressure in his face and had to throw guys open. Most of those guys weren't even drafted. Same with Josh Allen who was completely mid. Had to put the team on his back to win, didn't have a good support system and it's helped him in the league
This is the problem with OSU quarterbacks. They are see it throw it guy’s. This Michigan defense gave him nothing to see. That is more of what you see in the NFL. That being said he made a handful of NFL throws in this game. I don’t see him taking the league by storm. IMO he will be an okay qb but I don’t see superstar.
He simply played okay. Some brilliant throws with his great touch, but some very questionable pocket awareness, as well as a number of random misfires you wouldn't expect. He played alright, but not well enough to win on this day against a great team like Michigan.
He had an amazing game this shouldnt have hurt his heisman. A lot of drops and amazing plays by TTUN’s defense and OSU’s defense inability to make a stop the entire 2nd half
Keep the defense confused, use the check down, qb run, and run to bring the denfense closer towards the line of scrimmage. When they respect the run bomb then with a deep ball. Keep them guessing the whole game the first time they get punched
Great pocket passer but I would like see him just be a little , just a little more mobile especially if the pocket breaks down. Give him a good o line and some weapons and he will do major damage at the NFL level. Btw but he needs to go to a good NFL organization though , houston and detroit not fit for him but I do think the colts are a perfect fit for him.
Footwork is terrible. Great progression through reads. Doesn't whip out the ball at an NFL level (due to bad footwork). Fails to climb the pocket and often throws on his backfoot when no defenders are threatening him. Great habit of looking off defenders when he needs to. Very accurate with the football and decent measurables. Forces 'hospital' passes especially with check-downs. Overall, late first round or early second round prospect. Bad footwork and pocket management KILLS you in the NFL, especially on to a bad team when you are going to pressured almost every play. Can you imagine him on the Texans? Not going to be pretty. Can you imagine him on the Titans? Potential ROTY.
Nice try by the ref's calling forward progress @8:27 when everyone can clearly hear that the whistle didn't blow until the ball was rolling by the ref's feet🙄. That's OK because interceptions are more fun😎
As a neutral fan (well not really I hate both of these teams and think the Big Ten is garbage but you get my point) I gotta say it's embarrassing for OSU to lose to basically an inferior program in Michigan in back to back years especially by double digits each time. OSU recruits at a level where they shouldn't lose to any team in their conference but they have a ton of close games to lesser programs and obviously the two losses that I'm speaking of. Super embarrassing and I don't think it will change until they fire their coaches except Brian Hartline
I don't know if it's bias or wanting to look for positives but what about his play says he should be picked no 2 overall? He plays like a mid round pick. Doesn't scan field quickly. Has loads of time to pass and still picks the check down more often than not. He looks so average. Has a nice soft touch pass but so did loads of qbs coming out of college. It's very likely that he will be at best a top 20 qb in nfl and potentially not good at all because of his slow processing on top of nfl pass rushes and better corners.
He makes bad decisions very often. He'll get torn apart in the NFL. Plenty of open receivers but he couldn't see them. Big play making ability yes, great arm yes, talented yes, but without that oline he's nothing special. Has to much time to play around in the backfield and never sees his open reads and always checks down by the line of scrimmage even on 3rd down?
@@goatinaroun1944 but CJ faces zero adversity and when he does he shows signs of fear instead of getting positive yardage , he won’t have a clean pocket on Sundays, he needs another year
That throw at 3:18 was exceptional, that is a big time NFL throw
Totally. Same with the throw at 5:56. These guys are not “open” the throw is just right on the money
Cj should have like 6 or 7 TDs but the these receivers sold the game

His LT got whooped over and over. In this game.
Right? He was under a ton of heat, had a bunch of drops and the defense gave up 42. Not on Stroud

@@bobbyanthony6480 Yup that's basically what happened. That's why I said the defense and the play-calling ruined the momentum

Great arm talent and pocket passer he refuses to use his legs which makes defense a lot easier
WRs dropped a lot of catchable passes in this game.
