I would love a twixmas goal setting chat. Where do I sign up? I managed to walk more this year by doing it with a friend. We both have dogs so they can be the reason we are walking even if we don't want to! Habit stacking I suppose. Im turning 50 this coming year so like you I want to be the best version of myself I can be.
I despise exercise! It's just so boring. So I started doing what I call my longevity exercises. I've worked my way up to 8 lbs weights & I do 2-3 sets of 15-20 reps of simple goof proof moves, mostly arm raises. I do atleast 12 sqauts & I pick up my husbands 20 lbs dumbbells & just walk them around for a bit. I do this everyday & for about 5 minutes work broken up through the day you wouldn't believe the results! I'm putting on muscle & I'm so much stronger. So what I've learned is consistency is the key! I watch all your channels, I love your chatty style. Good luck with your goals for the new year & Merry Christmas!
I wish I could do arm raises but that’s how I injured my second rotator cuff. I already had one that had mostly healed but ended up aggravating that one and properly injuring the other. I have to concentrate on lower body and endless squats 😮 The carrying weights around will be great for your muscles and bones. 👍
I’d like a live but don’t want to actually talk on zoom. Or be seen because my face scares me😖😂. What I did well was sticking to exercise even though I don’t exactly like it. Also a healthy diet, although that’s slipping lately. Next years goals are getting a hold of my finances and having a huge declutter, which should include doing vinted. I’m procrastinating big time on that. I’m certainly also an emotional spender as well as eater.
Fellow (ex) non exerciser here. 100% agree on removing friction by being dressed (either for the day and/or for exercise). The next thing I did is essentially took the "feeling like it" component out of the equation (as I likely don't, at least to start) and I just have 2 sessions a week booked, so people are relying on me to turn up and my hand is slightly forced. The final thing is, I do something called EMS training (which I consider the ultimate lazy girl workout) which is fast, low impact and effective. At 50 I now have muscles I never had and don't get a sore back from sitting at a desk all the time. It is the only thing I've ever liked enough to stick with and I've now (much to my surprise) been doing it for 7 years! Totally recommend!
I understand the block adhd thing. If I’m wearing leggings I’m more likely to do a ad hoc exercise session too. Having to change clothes can put me off. I have to say I’m pretty good about doing cardio, walking and yoga now. I feel better for it so it helps. Having a very active small dog helps my steps too. I don’t love exercise at all, but just know I have to do it.
I had lots of goals for this year mainly to lose weight and get fitter, but circumstances and my brain had other ideas and I've actually somehow managed to be less active than ever before and put on 2 stone!!!! I shall make the same goals for 2025 no doubt and pray I'm more successful.....watch this space this time next year. Merry Christmas xx
I really should start making a list of things I’ve done over the year. I’m so bad at getting to the end of the year and just thinking I’ve done nothing
From someone who suffered from back pain and sciatica for years from busting my L4 and L5, my advice is work on your core muscles. When I got a strong core I became pain free.
Love this- do you feel like you never get free time because you take on additional tasks to avoid the tasks you don’t want to complete, therefore have no free time because you are avoiding the original task that if you had just done would then give you a sense of achievement and completion 😢

Yes to a twixmas goal setting brainstorm session! 🎉

Yes to goal setting, and these reflections were great

Im currently trying to do this following awful sciatica
My osteopath told me loads of back issues come from your neck. I'd definitely recommend an osteopath alongside strength training. Changed my pain xx

Oooof!
I’m interested in a twixmas live or zoom call 🙋🏻♀️
