Dan's "I cant help you, Scott! I have to sit here!" probably my favorite moment in movie fights of the past year
50:00
51:00
Marc is brutal in this one. I love it.
Zach Hambelton he could've bring down the white guilt agenda though
Giovanni Zanini That's just Marc. He's always on something like that. I like him for his fights not his politics.
44:40-46:20= Best hundred Secs. of 2017 #sozdan
If they had a name that movie date category he'd smoke it. Other then that he's not a good speaker or debater. His fav tactic is repeating himself in as many diff ways possible
Giovanni Zanini I think he's just saying it's not realistic because of where it is and what subculture it's about.
I adore La La Land but Andreyko's eviscerating breakdown of the film is so frickin' funny...
Totally agree
I rarely agree with Andreyko, including with La La Land, a movie I love, but he is a masterful critic, with a sharp tongue and a whole lot of integrity behind his opinions
This was the most savage deconstruction of La La Land yet
Biggest missed opportunity in Screen Junkies history, not making round 5 a trick question. Seeing Scott and Marc argue their opposite views of La La Land would've been legendary!
The best comedic performance of the year is Gerard Butler in Gods of Egypt.
Benjamin Abramowitz So right. Haha.
Benjamin Abramowitz haha
Benjamin Abramowitz
Did you not see Jesse Eisenberg's performance in Batman v Superman? I was having a blast of how hilarious it was.
Jared Leto's Joker is a close second.
I can guarantee that Gods of Egypt will definitely earn itself a few razzies.
The Audition scene from La La Land should be considered for best scene and it shows that Emma Stone should be considered for best performance. But also the Epilogue scene was great too. That's the part that made me cry.
King of Wakanda If anything it shows Chazelle knows how to end a movie with incredible sequences as well. Both the La La Land sequence (it's what it is) and the last 10 minutes of Whiplash are perfection in film making and editing.
Lol That's not even my favorite scene from the movie. The opening scene is one of my favorite opening scenes in movie history. The ending is also amazing.
That score is also so good
Ishan Rosha my favorite score behind The Empire Strikes Back.
Definitely one of my faves, everytime I listen to Epilogue on spotify it hits me in the feels
I am amazed that none of them mentioned the ending of Rogue One as the best scene of 2016.
***** Of course it contributes to the movie. It ends the film on a terrifying, but also incredibly cool note.
The whole reason we watch films is for what we see. Technically, every scene in a film is unnecessary. We might as well just tell movies in childish stick figure drawings. If you do not like that, then go read a book.
Im with Dantius, that might be the greatest scene in Star Wars history and that's saying something 😲
I don't think so. I nerded all over that scene, but if Star Wars doesn't mean much to you, it is forgettable.
amstel 54 really the greatest scene of all star wars? I guess that's your opinion. For me the greatest scenes in Star wars were the throne room scenes and Luke's and Vader's scene on Endor in ROTJ because they had emotional resonance with great character moments that made the story more compelling.
General Zod People are seriously looking for reasons to hate Rogue One now, and these comments prove it.
We have come to a point where, apparently, if even one second of a film is not spent advancing the story, then it must be a bad second, no matter what is on screen.
The Battle of Hoth was too long. Along with the asteroid field scene, and Lightsaber duel on Cloud City. Same with the ending that was spent looking at a pretty galaxy. All of these things took their time and entertained us with spectacle rather than story. In fact, Empire Strikes Back HAS NO STORY. If anything, it is three episodes of a TV show in one. There is no set goal established from early on that is completed by the end. It just jumps from one subject to another without any direction. And I love every moment of it.
So enough with this nonsense about pointlessness. If you only care about the story, then go read a book. Meanwhile, I will be enjoying movies for the reason I enjoyed the original Star Wars, and the reason movies exist in the first place: visual entertainment. Darth Vader's scene absolutely deserved to be on here.
It's a trap! A scene does not need emotional relevance to be a great scene. It just needs to be something amazing that you never forget.
Make 2 Honest Trailers for La La Land, one written by Marc Andreyko the otherone by Scott Mantz.
SPOILER WARNING FOR LA LA LAND!!!
I really love the last scene of La La Land. I have an ex-girlfriend, we broke up last summer. We tried to be friends afterwards but I found out I still had too many feeling for her to still see her. I recently told her we couldn't see each other anymore, which was very hard and emotional for the both of us. I found that I still had some things to say, so I wrote her a letter in which I thanked her for all the time we had spend together, for all the beautiful things she showed me and that I wish for her to be happy even without me. The last thing I wrote was "go see La La Land", specifically for that last scene. I don't know if she ever received the letter and I don't know if she ever read the letter, but I do hope that she saw that movie. I really hope she went with her new boyfriend, I hope they kissed and I hope that they are happy together. But I also hope that she thought of me during that last look of Emma Stone and thought of how things also could have played out.
That said, I still think that the Darth Vader scene in Rogue One is the best scene of 2016
guitarwally1 lol u spill ur heart out and then "btw Darth Vader was badass"
Sal A. lmao
I know the feeling, don't worry time will ease it away.
guitarwally1 I think thats why La La Land has that divided reception. People who have been that close to love get really connected to it they truly understand it, but the rest dont get it, and loathe it because the emotion doesnt hit em that hard and see the film as just another overly sweet love story.
Just take a look at the competitors here, I dont want to be mean, but Marc (against La La Land) is a bitter spinster, and Scott (pro La La Land) is happily married.
Christopher Scotts Marc's entire reason for not liking it was because it was directly lifting its climax from another, better film. Saying they didn't get it is the dumbest fucking excuse for why people didn't like it, because La La Land is a straightforward movie.
Swiss Army Man. The first fart makes you laugh and the last fart makes you cry.
Amillerbiller95 movie was really great
Amillerbiller95 best movie of the year
it was a bit to weird for me
Yes, thank you for giving it some recognition. In my top 3 of the year.
coryinthehouse my personal favorite. Made a review if you want to check it out.
My favorite scenes of the year:
*Opening scene of La La Land
*Ending sequence of La La Land
*"Start a Fire" in La La Land (EPIC)
*When Sebastian and Mia go to the observatory in La La Land
*The dance number in La La Land with the sunset in the background
*The dinner scene in La La Land near the end
*Every other scene in La La Land that I didn't list
You sound very flamboyant
+voodoochile333 Lol I'm not flamboyant at all. I just love that fucking movie. One of my all time favorites now. Maybe Top 5.
+JohnSmithProductions Why do you think that? Don't you think that's a little hyperbolic? Every dancer was completely in sync. Not to mention it was all in one take, which is VERY impressive. I can't imagine how many takes that scene took. Plus, it's a great song imo. One of my favorites from the movie.
And I also think the first woman had a very good voice. There weren't any singers that I thought were weak. I'm not an expert on singing or anything, but I thought she sounded great.
Jake G 2187 So you didnt like La La Land
shout out to the best non-american movies of the year: Aquarius (Brazil), The Handmaiden (Korea), Elle (France) and Julieta (Spain)
The Handmaiden is beyond amazing
Roberta Lira dangal(india)
The handmaiden was outstanding
Also I, Daniel Blake from the uk
Marc Andreyko with the hilarious deconstruction of La La Land
Andy's reaction was priceless
did everyone forget about HELL OR HIGH WATER!?
Ray Hoop pretty much, yea
Ray Hoop I sure didn't, have seen it multiple times and have been spreading the word ever since I walked out of my theater! Truly believe it's on of the best movies I've seen this decade!
cforbes54
Completely agree. Ben Foster deserves the Oscar for best supporting actor
omg omgomg I have no idea what this is and I just want to watch it now, thnx!
Probably my favorite this year. Great heist movies are a rare treasure and they need more love.
What about the Darth Vader scene from the end of Rogue One? That was much better than Wonder Woman from BvS.
Hugh Mungus duh😆😆😆
Hugh Mungus it was
Hugh Mungus honestly Idgs about wonder woman scene
Hugh Mungus nostalgia.
Nah
Look, Andreyko is a good dude. The book he wrote is great for the world. He's a film genius.. but saying the Batman V Superman final CGI mess of a scene is great while saying La La Land's "what if" scene is bad is absolutely ridiculous.
Just a scene, he's not arguing for the whole movie.
It's all sound and fury signifying nothing. It's just not a particularly interesting action scene.
geoffrobinson yes.. and that scene sucks. The La La Land "what if" scene is brilliantly directed and it builds to it the whole film. The film that surrounds the BVS scene is not strong enough to give that scene (that still isn't good) the stakes it needs to be a good climax.
he wasn't talking about the entire Doomsday fight, just the introduction of Wonder Woman
cgi mess? Its not even opinion to admit that zack snyder has visual prowess. this is widely known. you obviously dont like him or bvs.
Marc is so wrong about La La Land that I can't even...
So just cos he has a different opinion than you he is wrong?
+mk6rfc1 Well, it's his opinion that Marc's wrong.
Of course he can have an opinion, but he basically said the movie is garbage which is just not true. All his "arguments" sounded like hate than just "opinion". I didn't like The Edge of Seventeen but the movie is far from the worse thing ever because that wouldn't be true.
Bruno THE DUDE GIVES ME STOMACH ACHES!!!!
+Bruno but calling a movie garbage or not is still his opinion no matter how much you disagree with it
Everyone is falling head over heels for La La Land, Moonlight and Manchester by the Sea... And I'm just over here screaming Hacksaw Ridge at my computer screen
Three awesome fighters, almost feels like the good old days. Thanks for a great start to 2017.
Guy in round 1 dissing Manchester by the Sea and La La Land so heavily while he's arguing for a scene in Batman v Superman.... lol
It's about the scenes not the overall movie
Even bad movies can have great scenes
Matthew McCabe I'm amazed nobody mentioned that that BvS scene was nothing but desperate fan service. Nobody cares about Wonder Woman if they don't have prior knowledge and nostalgia. The other scenes work as individual, relatable, intimate scenes. Easiest win. It was the easiest thing to argue, c'mon.
I found it more laughable that he was claiming that La La Land lifted their scene from another movie as if the BvS scene was an original work of art we've never before witnessed.
+Holo The Hogan Johnson Exactly. I'm not a comic book fan, haven't bought one in 20 years, don't know who Wonder Woman is except for what was presented in the movie and when she appeared my like reaction was like, "OK...so what?"
luckystriker "And the theater went wild!!!" Because they saw the thing from their childhood they like and went "I know what that iiissssss!!!!!!".
Spoilers for movies that aren't even accessible to most people yet, seriously? fs
mk6rfc1 exactly!!!!!
+Dean Palmer the ones on the thumbnail - la la land, Manchester by the sea and moonlight
mk6rfc1 they should have made it :best blockbusters , action scene etc and leave all those movies for the Oscar contenders fights.
Steve Strange not the point
+Steve Strange I just skipped the topic but whatever
"Best movie villain of 2016?"
Both: Uhhhhhhhh....................
Yeah, that sums it up pretty well for the comic book movies this year.
I think Vader or even Krennic from Rogue One would have been good choices. But to be fair, I only thought of those two after the time was up for that speed round. I was drawing a blank at first too.
Keeping out of comic book movies I found Barry from Sing Street was great or Ray from Nocturnal Animals
Zemo was pretty good doe
They should ve said Darth Vader, Krennic or Tarkin from Roque One. The only viable villains of this year
Not only comic book movies suffered. Disney animation has really been suffering from this problem recently. Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, and Moana lacked well-developed villains. Instead they went for the "surprise" villain.
Really enjoyed this episode. Marc Andreyko said it perfectly, when people discuss their difference for a movie in an articulate manner it becomes engaging and expands your brain.
Marc was like a lion devouring and shitting out "La La Land". It was a beautiful thing to watch/ listen to.
nightfalls was the best movie of the year
Karan Raj Singh of all time...
Karan Raj Singh Pacino was great in that.
LA LA LAND. No question. Any other dreamers out there??
Maybe Arrival can contest it
King of Wakanda I personally preferred Moonlight, but Lala Land was a very very close second
Rishabh Raj oh I do think it could contest it (Arrival was my #3 movie of 2016) but I just love La La Land way too much to consider anything else.
KING OF WAKANDA, HELL YES! Such an incredible movie!
King of Wakanda I'm not seeing how it's such an incredible movie, I think people are getting sucked up in the hype of the actors. The trailers make it out to be this fun musical guess what they show every number and none of the character moments which were boriiinnnngggggg.
Ok, I have a theory:
I think that Scott Mantz is secretly a psychopath. He tries to hide this by being super-polite to everyone but you can see his craziness come through when he argues with the others. Look at his eyes, man! Scary stuff! 😄
That's actually kind legit. It's pretty creepy how touchy-feely he is with Roth too. I get some people are like that but... bleggghhh >~< I'd be like get your fucking hands off me.
I noticed the touching bits later in the episode after posting this. I'm so glad not being the only one noticing this! 😄
Bogi Dujic p
Scott Mantz, you're freaking everyone out with how much you like La La Land mate, it's getting weird now
I love it everytime Marc is on!! Always so entertaining!!!
Best movies of 2016 are Arrival, Hacksaw Ridge and Nocturnal Animals. Guys if you haven't seen Nocturnal Animals, I highly recommend it. Its great.
JustTrolling Nocturnal Animals had the best performance by a supporting actor this year (Michael Shannon was incredible). Have you seen Hell or High Water and La La Land? Both are my favorites this year along with the ones you mentioned.
I have seen both Hell or Highwater and LaLa Land and I loved both but those 3 would be my top 3. Nocturnal Animals I just felt like had amazing performances and it had a lot of depth that makes you think.
I thought some of the pacing was a little off in terms of editing the story within the story aspect in Nocturnal Animals, but the performances are just excellent.
I honestly had no issue with the pacing or editing at all. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the movie, especially the highway scene, which was intense as hell.
I just read the book so I feel like watching it on screen would be a bit depressing.
Why the hell do people keep putting LaLa Land over Moonlight.
Max Barr ffs right?! Moonlight is absolutely perfect yet people are picking La La Land over it? Serious?
Max Barr La La Land has effort through spectacle bravado, and visual storytelling; it is the Mad Max Fury Road of 2016. It's themes are relatable and intimate. The scene when Mia and Sebastian first separate takes it's time and by the end, it is heartbreaking. Moonlight should win, but La La Land is definitely good competition.
Holo The Hogan Johnson Its the closest competition Moonlight has, but doesn't even begin to compare.
Max Barr I'll be a persistent fucker, but I think it does. Different themes for different struggles. La La Land leaves you with a touch of melancholy...Moonlight drops a bucketload of melancholy emotion. Moonlight is definitely fantastic. I think it should win Best Picture, but La La Land winning would still be totally justified.
Holo The Hogan Johnson LaLa Land will, I promise you. Any other year, it's justified. But when you have an emotional power keg with such important themes told in such a brilliant way as Moonlight, it's absurd that La La Land is locked for it.
Marc is a savage! Love that guy
Spike Speigel Savage? More like garbage.
hes right, you know.
Marc was on fire in this Movie Fight, such a great watch, as always!
What made La La Land the best movie of the year, is the strong feelings IT invokes, everytime I've seen it (3 times) I've gotten a sped up heart beat and felt so invested in the film.
La La Land hands down in my opinion. Such an incredible experience. Brilliantly directed with great cinematography and amazing performances. Here's to the ones who dream :)
Wow Scott did a terrible job arguing for La La Land, he made it seem really shallow and basic.
Also took every opportunity to bring up the unfunny ms pacman thing
Jay reyes No, it was fantastic.
Yeah. It deserves better.
That's because it is shallow and basic. I went in expecting Singing in the Rain and ended up getting two awkward characters that couldn't sing or dance.
Adam B They are supposed to be sensitive and fragile and awkward. It's relatable, realistic, and it's also quite inspiring for anyone facing the struggle of such a daunting aspiration; to make it out for themselves in that city, or anywhere for that matter. Also, if you think Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone couldn't sing and dance in this film, you should see an optometrist and an ear specialist STAT!
Best Scene of the year: X-Men Apocalypse: Quicksilver Scene
The one in days of future past was better imo
ZadnoleyaEdits How? I mean both of those scenes were amazing, and Days of Future Past is a better movie, but they definetly topped themselves with this scene.
Best scene of 2014 yes.
TEC lol if you believe that you're an idiot
i don't think that scene was as cool as the days of future past one. The scene in apocalypse was a bit too long and cgi was a little off
I don't think I've ever DISliked an episode of Movie Fights, so when I say this was a particularly good one, I really mean it.
Mantz: "on February 26th La La Land WILL win Best Picture"
Me: "Well... Kinda"
me, personally, I LOVED this movie. me personally
Adriano Vazquez what movie?
I don't want to complain to much, because, me personally, i loved it, personally!
Personally I personally feel that on a personal level I can personally say this is my personal favorite 😃
Good to see RLM is rocking the internet with its blistering and spot-on critiques of Rogue One
VietnamD0820 and the fan boy community
Hacksaw Ridge or Arrival were my favorites
Seth pelepchuk nice guys
Oscar Ramon didn't see it but I really want to
Seth pelepchuk something's telling me that the Academy may ice Gibson on a best director nomination though
Seth pelepchuk sorry to say but arrival was boring
Oscar Ramon Absolutely. Loved The Nice Guys
When is Max Landis coming back?
Ultron32 Not for a while hopefully
Ultron32 soon hopefully!
Ultron32 hopefully never.
never, hopefully.
It's really strange because whenever Max Landis gets mentioned everyone either loves him or hates him.
Man I wanted to punch Andreyko in this fight. La La Land is one of the best movies ever.
No it isnt ...it's my fifth favorite movie of the year but you guys are making it operated...it has many flaws the least of which is Emma stones character and her hypocritical tendencies
Malik Marwan oh check this guy out, it clearly isnt one of the best movies because its his 5th.....lol
You wanna punch Marc because he has a different opinion from yours? You are the representation of what's wrong with today's movie audience.
Karrlo Biscocho Marc literally said watching La La Land made him want to punch someone...
Adam Droge he's a smug bastard
Marc's rant on La La Land is so funny
A movie in the 21st century where the couple doesn't end up together? 500 Days of Summer.
Bourne Supermacy
From the top of my head
Valpas Kankaristo Refrigerators don't count
Cafe society
Best villain of the year is Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Nocturnal Animals
YES
JonTron's gotta be on one of these days.
Shakermaker We can only dream
Shakermaker this is not a vidya game show
Jon reviews dem movies too y'know
Shakermaker he reviews shitty movies I think
Shakermaker I am surprised he isnt working for them because it seems like Andy hires people who look exactly like himself and JonTron does look like Andy
The final scene and entirety of La La Land are absolutely breath taking. The final scene is so heart breaking and relatable. It truly tugged on my heart strings.
I have yet to finish the episode but this has been on of the best Movie Fights I have seen, kudos to the passion from the panel, more of this please!!
Roth got cheated. The do-over round was her all the way, she has the best logic, clarity, and passion. Waaaay better than Marc.
"empty pretentious movie" that guy hit it on the head, that's exactly what La La Bland is.
Aseril oooh la la bland i'm using that one
So far the greatest performance I've seen this year belongs to Garfield in Hacksaw Ridge.
Henry G I hope Andrew gets the Oscar instead of Casey.
I wish I saw Hacksaw Ridge. I let the trailers' corniness dissuade me, but now all I hear is praise for it, and I do like Garfield. I have seen Manchester by the Sea though, and I want him to win. I can't remember any character ever feeling so real before, it's something incredibly special. I'd vote for the kid as best supporting too, he's great.
Andrew is more showy, Casey is more understated. Both are fucking phenomenal. We'll see who wins
Movie Yeti Gosling was very charming and the best thing about the movie, not sure how he was "aloof". And Denzel will win, not Casey or Andrew.
Well, so much for Denzel winning lol. Casey deserved that award far above the rest.
I must say, one of the better Movie Fights episodes.
35:50 Mantz sad face is everything, he can't hear about it at all...haha
After watching the first round, I'm so glad that the twitter poll isn't counted. Roth's argument was bulletproof and annihilated Marc in almost a single breath. Mantz barely had an argument for his, which Marc was able to tear apart. Andy was just being nice making it sound like a balanced round.
For me the top 10 are,
10. Moonlight
9. La la Land
8. Sing Street
7. Hacksaw Ridge
6. Doctor Strange
5. HoHW
4. Arrival
3. The Nice Guys
2. Silence
1. Manchester by The Sea
Honorable mentions would be Civil war, Zootopia, deadpool, Jungle book.
SWI doctor strange? wtf
XekTOr
Hands down one of the best films this year, if it's not within your taste, that's fine, but it's artistic use of VFX action and fantastic acting makes it one of the best comic movies, and one of the only ones to reach my personal top 10 of the year list.
SWI i liked the movie, but nothing makes it a top 10 movie, it has pretty visuals, and thats mostly all it has going for it
XekTOr I would argue with you for hours on that, but it's become rather clear that no opinions are being changed here.
Good Day.
doctor strange had some pretty creative and interesting action sequences at least
Really wish they'd made 'the best movie of the year' question a trick question.
It would've been hilarious to see Scott argue why la la land was the worst.
best Movie Fights ever! let's do another one next year with these 3 please!!!
One of the most engaging and passionate movie fights ever!
What scene was taken directly out of The Umbrellas Of Cherbourg ? Because i watched it the other day and it's amazing but I don't recall any scene taken directly out of it
1: Roth is one of the BEST movie fighters they've ever had. 2: Scott didn't even mention most of the best parts about La La Land - the phenomenal score, the beautiful dance sequences, etc... 3: Marc is totally entitled to his opinions, but I don't think there's ever been a human being I disagreed with more on a consistent basis (about movies) than him and I find him completely befuddling lol.
I wish just one person would shut Marc down by articulating that the idea was borrowed from Umbrellas, but the execution of that idea is so completely different than Umbrellas that it's preposterous to accuse it of just stealing the whole thing. The Tarantino comparison is entirely apt. And tons of critics who are incredibly more well versed in classic musicals, including Umbrellas, consider it sufficiently original.
This was one of the most entertaining movie fights
I don't get how people don't like La La Land. I was smiling throughout most of the film. So good!
Holy shit no one picked "the scene" in the first fight
ToonsOff Fun *turns on lightsaber*
ToonsOff Fun that scene was the fucking tits my theatre cheered seeing vader kill those rebel scum
Love how you just said "The Scene" and we knew what you were talking about
what scene
+Thomas Mello THAT scene. Or DEATH scene. It's the same.
1. Moonlight
2. Manchester by the sea/La La Land
I have to sadly agree finding dory is overrated
I liked it the first time but the second time I watched it I couldn't it was boring
Kari T I was so sad to say it too but I simply didn't like the movie, it was fine I guess but felt straight to DVD. Expected more from Pixar which is why it seems to bad to me!
New drunk movie fights: All of the fighters watch this fight back and take a shot every time someone says 'La La Land'. The last one left alive wins...
For me personally, I loved this episode.
I enjoyed La La Land but Andreyko was hilarious and making solid points
London Has Fallen, obviously.
dallashood67 -andy
I just saw that last night... it was so lame... but NOT entertainingly so, unfortunately. :(
For best villain, someone should've chosen Percival Graves (Collin Farell) from fantastic beasts. Or the main hollow (Samuel L. Jackson)
I actually forgot about that, Farrell was great in that role
Yeah I agree!
I came back to this because I finally watched La La Land and I gotta say, Scott was absolutely right to be that passionate about it
my favorite part throughout all of this was watching Scott watch Roth argue ;)
Bring back Roger Barr, Nick Mundy and Mike Carlson
I haven't started the video, but I bet someone is gonna say Civil War
nope
George Good
TheNew52 sad..it had a blast with it.
It was my favourite movie of the year but its definitely not the best movie I saw all year
mk6rfc1 I disagree, it's definitely the best comic book movie and best action movie of the year and that's what it wanted to be.
Lol I love Scott but I would have loved to see Dan fight Marc on la la land
Scott Mantz’ non-stop optimism is genuinely heartwarming man
Great movie fight. Great conversations and Marc trolling Mantz throughout the whole fight was hilarious.
It's not on the ITunes Podcasts for the channel
..hmm am I the only one that hasn't seen Moonlight, La La Land, or Manchester by the Sea
Also has Mantz ever gotten more than 1 point? He just kind of repeats his same argument the entire time.
I'm really hoping for some combination of Spencer, Joe, Hal, or Mundy. Does Mundy even fight anymore? Seems like it's been a long time.
I really like Spencer, Joe, and Hal though.. that would be a good fight.
Tim Menke
My dream fighter cast would be Spencer, Joe and Mike. I think that would be pretty fuckin swell.
What the hell Andy totally ignored all of Roth's compelling arguments
I've never seen Andreyko fight so well. He was amazing.
"You walk out of La La Land, you feel pretty good ,and you go have some pizza afterwords!"....OK no joke,Roth legitimately described my day ,that was spooky!
Roth Dropped the ball. Rick Flag was easily the most useless member of Suicide Squad. The guy almost got kidnapped like 5 times
More of Deadshot less of everyone else. Seriously can you imagine a Deadshot movie done John Wick style with that cut and run kinda action...
I just saw La La Land last night and I 100% agree with Marc. Like him I was excited and looking forward to see it. But like Marc I thought it is so bad and overrated. Scott is way off on it. The music was good though, ill give it that.
so happy to see Hello My Name is Doris getting some love!
Marc Andreyko is my hero for his "La La Land" argument. What a relief to know that I wasn't the only one who felt underwhelmed by that film.
Mark: Awards don't make a good movie
Mark: Praise doesn't make a good movie.
Mark: Opinions don't make a good movie
Mark: Actors don't make a good movie
Mark: *insert something that judges how good a movie is* doesn't make a good movie
Me: WHAT DOES??!?
I'm with you Marc. La La Land is overrated. I'm a theatre teacher. I looooove musicals. I went into that movie thinking it was gonna lift me up, as it was advertised, and it failed for me as well. To quote another musical Marc "you are not alone" I don't think it is awful, just an overrated let down
Says "La la land" is empty and pretentious, yet praises an two second advertisement in the middle of disappointing superhero movie as a "best scene from a movie of the year"? Lol this guy. :D
The after the fights for this episode had to have been the best lol
i loved the la la land discussions.I liked these guys but watching them go crazy over someone doing criticism of their favorite movies was priceless.
More of that please.
My Choices...
Best Scene: Ending of La La Land
Best Performance: Emma Stone in La La Land
Most Overrated: Manchester by the Sea
Do-Over: Idk... Ghostbusters?
Best Movie: La La Land
Scott argued so poorly for La La Land. It has SO much meaning and SO much depth and realism in it and he used such superficial arguments. It's about so much more than a love story. He could've said SO much more about every meticulous detail put into the story, music, and cinematography and instead he just kept yelling about how much he loved it. He made himself and the movie look stupid when La La Land is far from stupid. Marc has some awful opinions but at least he argues very well.
Brett Gowen I really agree on you with manchester by the sea... so fucking overrated
How are we supposed to know when to un-mute from the la la land spoilers. I wont be watching this movie fights :( Disappointing.
A tip for the future, pick another choice if it's a movie that's only just came out and not even out yet in the UK.
I don't think La La land counts as a 2016 movie. Not from my perspective over here in Britania
Just skip to the next fight
Honestly, just come back and watch this fight later. It sucks that you guys don't get all these movies yet, but this is an American show, and it would be unfair to not talk about these movies released in 2016 there when going through a best of 2016 list. Just save this movie fight for a couple weeks, and come back to it when you've seen La La Land, or Moonlight or Manchester By The Sea.
Or just accept the fact that you haven't seen any of those movies and watch anyway, like I did.
I wasn't very clear, I meant I wasn't going to be watching right now. I'll for sure watch after I've seen the movies these rascals are taking about.
Robert Crisp yeah! i want to watch this but cant untill la la land is out
La La Land is a masterpiece.
I appreciate Mark and Roth not spoiling MBTS and Moonlight (unlike Scott with La La Land). Neither of these three movies have been released in Mexico, so I appreciate my moviefights without spoilers.
The girl on the couch with Dan around the 1:25:00 mark needs a permanent job at SJ. Her expressions were hilarious.
