Lose the language, you lose the culture. The same culture that is welcoming and safe for women unlike northern culture. So I respect kannadigas for sticking up for their language.
You should have said same to the Britishers actually. But that gives you economic benefits there you will never say MNCs in Karnataka to use kannada. That shows your hypocrisy. Please say clearly say that we are for sale pay me I will speak any language. I include myself also.I am hyper hypocrite by the way.

@@makarandjoshi5090 both Maharashtra and Karnataka provide jobs for outsiders. North does not even though they receive most of the taxes from the country. So Northies have to stop lecturing others and fix their states and stop imposing hindi in Maharashtra and South. There is a reason why they are disliked across the south. It's because they believe in lecturing and using ready made resources.
Yesterday, I visited a school in Bengaluru to enroll my child in Nursery. The admission coordinator explained that their curriculum includes Hindi along with English (but not Kannada), claiming that Hindi is the national language of India. I find it difficult to understand why such false information is being shared. As a Malayali, I would much rather have my child learn Kannada than Hindi while living in Karnataka.

In my experience of living in Bangalore city for over 10 years, I have only seen North-Indian crowd making a fuss with the locals. I have seen some Hindi speakers use only Hindi and expect everyone else - colleagues, neighbors, fellow students, shopkeepers, hotel staff, auto/cab, delivery person, etc. to converse with them in Hindi, or else don't converse at all. (Not even English as substitute). There is a culture gap, a feeling of moral superiority and a tendency to dominate others by some of them aforementioned. So, when you live and behave like a separate cluster from the rest, there is a tendency for the locals to get irritated. Hence these clashes. Having said that, I have also met some of the most knowledgeable, out-going, kind and fun native Hindi speakers during my time at Bangalore. Any discussions on this are welcome. Thanks.
Are you sure or is it the opposite. I've seen only the opposite and people coming from outside do try to do conversation in English or kannada when required. Aren't people like u biased towards north Indians and try to pick fights when they can't speak kannada just caz they didn't learn kannada before coming to Bengaluru. Do u consider bengaluru as the national IT hub of India or property of yourself. Why would any new people create fuzz in a new city? Ain't the economy of Bengaluru booming caz of all Indians contributing to it and also earnings of lots of local people dependent on them? But just that most of the economy is Karnataka is coming from Bengaluru but do you consider everyone to be part of this or just play local cards. I've never seen a division of people based on language until I started travelling in South India. There are lots of people dividing on caste, religion, etc but remember division on anything is discrepancy.
@@shoaibha You can easily find examples of what I said occasionally in almost every corner of Bangalore. As I said, it's not everyone, but some of them do it simply because of lack of humility, situational awareness and overconfidence. You said correctly that nobody goes looking for a "fuzz", but unfortunately incidents naturally happen, and I'm usually the one who has acted like a conciliator to stop things from escalating, or to call-out/intervene against wrong doers (be it local or whoever), as is our duty as a responsible citizen. With our fundamental rights, we are free to move, live and practice legalised trade and profession anywhere in India, so we all have the right to come to bangalore or wherever, and as you rightly said, the growth of bangalore can also be credited to the hardwork of people who have contributed from all round India. So, there is nothing preventing anyone in settling. Also please understand there is obviously cultural differences in South India, because if you are familiar with history, most states were princely states/kingdoms with their own language, tradition and culture. Not like North India where most will understand Hindi. In South there is even different dialects of the same language depending on the area, so for a person coming from far away things will be confusing. And what you said about caste, division have always existed in India simply because of the nature of religions itself. We can say its comparatively lesser in the South than North but whatever it maybe, we Indians should strive to be better and dilute the differences and be harmonious as directed and enshrined in our constitution 👍

For the people of Karnataka, their country is Karnataka. When they are referred to as “Indian”, that identity doesn’t give a strong feeling to home. But when they call themselves as Kannadiga, that brings a strong touch and bond to their home. North Indians really need to understand that.
Bakwaas, I am from Karnataka and there's nothing more proud for us than calling ourselves "An Indian" or "A Bharatiya". But the problem with some North Indians is that, the very moment you say India or Bharat, they try to connect everything related to India to just Hindi. That's where the issue lies. Kannada is one of the oldest languages of India much older than Hindi. We even refer to "Kannadambe Bhuvaneshwari Devi", the deity of the State of Karnataka as the daughter of "Bharat Mata". So don't try to question the patriotism of Kannadigas. Karnataka has made immense contributions towards the prosperity of India in culture , spirituality as well as economy. Also we have absolutely no problem with speaking Hindi as well. I've been speaking Hindi since the age of 7 and can guarantee you that my fluency in Hindi is as much as a native Hindi speaker. This is true for many of the locals here too. That's the love and respect we have for Hindi here. But we absolutely have a problem with some North Indians (Not everyone). The superiority complex some of them have is immense, that's the problem we have. Keep your attitude at your home is what we are saying! And once again, never question our patriotism. Hindi is not India. Period. We were, we are and we will always be proud of being a Kannadiga and a Bharatiya! Jai Hind Jai Karnataka
I am from Kerala, and I don't feel part of the concept of a larger nation. The votes of South Indians don't count. I am sorry Miss Anisha Sheth hasn't done proper research about Karnataka . Especially Bangalore . In the 1940's it was Mysore State with Mysore being the Capital City . At the stroke of Independence the Mysore State leaders decided to change the Capital to Bangalore City . After the merger of all Kannada Speaking districts on November 1st 1956 a Proper Kannada Speaking State was formed . Then in the year 1973 (November 1st) the then Chief Minister Devaraj Urs decided to change the name of Mysore to Karnataka . Meaning Kannada Speaking State . At the Stroke of the beginning of 20th Century it Mysore State, Mysore City as Capital and Mysore Sandal soap made by the Mysore State Government 😮 .
Those of us born in the 1950's know this history. We came of age in the early 1970's and my father was in the Mysore Civil Service the local version of the IAS. He retired in the beginning of the 70's. I remember Deveraj Urs declaring Mysore to be named Karnataka. I was in the Boy Scouts in 1972 and as Troopleader led the first Rajyotsava parade.
Things will get worse with delimitation. Don't understand how Karnataka & Telengana saved bjp this time, only to lose more power in national politics next time.
If Kannadigas dont unite now, it's over for us. India is not one homogenous entity, we are all different people who came together for mutual benefit. If Kannadigas wishes and rights are not respected then its safe to say that such people are colonizers.

As a North Indian, I feel our people need to stop abusing the system. Just because the constitution says it's not required to learn any language of another state, doesn't imply that North Indians should imperialize the South. And if South India wants a separate nation, I feel it's time to give it to them. We are nobody to colonize them.

This is my first comment anywhere in years because i feel strongly about this. 1. A rare superficial output from TNM. Its not a deep dive at all. (I am a paying supporter.) 2. The issue is not about what the law allows us but what people feel. I think the previous comment about having reasonable expectations from people who live in Bangalore is absolutely on point. 3. I have noticed a huge blind spot amongst North Indians. They believe that it is naturally expected that everybody should speak Hindi. This actually a parochial attitude. Pls think about it a bit. 4. We live in difficult times in a difficult city especially on the roads. Frayed tempers reveal our worst. I think fights we hear of are to be seen with compassion for the people involved. The lessons however must be learnt. I wish other people would neither participate in armchair analysis nor fuel the outrage nor resort to jingoism of any kind. I don't though see any justification to demand that, as a matter of right, an autodriver converse in Hindi. I would urge people from outside the State who dont just know Kannada but dont WANT to learn it, to introspect. Also, is a sense of gratitude towards the city that gives you livelihood and opportunity, reasonable to expect? Do we think of it as a matter of right just because its a legal right, which it ofcourse is. Much like we have gratitude to our school, college, the organisation that gave us our first job or big break, doesn't our home city deserve it too?

The recent outbursts have been due to pent up anger that they’ve been having over the years due to migrants having taken advantage of this accommodating nature. The issue is raising now bcse certain ppl want to ignite the North South division in Bengaluru (after successfully doing it in TN and KL). Modi, RSS, BJP has nothing to do with this. But has everything to do with the mindset of an individual to show willingness to learn Kannada.
In the ongoing debate around the imposition of Hindi over regional languages, it’s essential to unpack the dynamics of cultural respect and linguistic diversity in India. Here's a consolidated response addressing multiple facets of this discussion: Language and Cultural Identity Language isn’t just a tool for communication-it’s deeply tied to a region's identity, history, and culture. The imposition of Hindi over other regional languages undermines centuries of tradition, literature, and local knowledge. The comparison to fashion trends, which change cyclically, overlooks the deep-rooted cultural significance of language. Unlike fashion, losing a language can lead to cultural erasure, something far more damaging than switching styles of clothing. Political and Administrative Biases The dominance of Hindi is not a natural phenomenon; it is fueled by political and administrative decisions. Many major policymaking offices are located in the Hindi-speaking belt, leading to unconscious (or conscious) biases favoring Hindi. While our currency does reflect India’s linguistic diversity, showcasing several regional languages alongside Hindi, this symbolic acknowledgment does not translate into fair representation in the realms of governance, media, or education. It’s not about rejecting Hindi, but ensuring that other languages are not sidelined. Mutual Respect vs. Imposition There’s a difference between mutual respect and the imposition of one language over others. The phrase "When in Rome, act like Romans" is relevant here-just as we would respect the culture and language when we visit a different place, it's respectful for those moving to a different state to learn basic phrases in the local language. Expecting everyone to speak Hindi, regardless of the state they live in, is a reflection of linguistic hegemony. Learning local languages isn’t about forcing someone but about respecting the culture of the region they are in. Democratic Dialogue, Not Conflict Resistance to the imposition of Hindi doesn’t mean advocating for conflict or violence. In a democracy, people have the right to protest and raise concerns through peaceful means. It’s about preserving regional identities, not creating conflict zones. By advocating for inclusive language policies that honor all Indian languages, we can strengthen the diversity that makes India unique. Resorting to violence or insurgency harms the very communities whose culture we seek to protect, which is why democratic advocacy is the best path forward. Final Thoughts This isn’t about rejecting Hindi or forcing any regional language on others. It’s about ensuring linguistic diversity and respect in India. Hindi speakers, like anyone else, should be open to learning and respecting the languages of the regions they visit or work in. At the same time, regional languages should have equal opportunities in education, media, and government. The key is balance, mutual respect, and dialogue. Diversity is India’s strength, and by preserving all languages, we can ensure that this diversity thrives.
karnataka has historically provided and contributed to the protection of South Indian and Dravidian culture. From Krishnadevaraya who was born on the soil of Karnataka and saw the golden age of kannada language to Periyar who was a Kannadiga himself and fought for the protection of Dravidian people from the hegemony of the north. The southern states need to bond together and help their sister state and make sure she is protected at all costs. Even though our state has won the most literary awards we have truly let the wolves prey upon us in our own homes. Jai karnataka, Tamizh vazhga

It is disheartening to witness the city’s heritage being overshadowed by an influx of individuals who exploit its opportunities while disregarding the traditions and values that make this land unique. Respect for the native language, equitable participation of Kannadigas in employment, and preservation of cultural harmony are non-negotiable. If one cannot honor the ethos of this land and its people, their presence here only disrupts the balance. Bengaluru belongs to Kannadigas-let us safeguard its identity with dignity and pride."
The public sectors like HAL, BEL, HMT, ITI, etc which were all established in Bangalore required skilled man power. Need of the hour. This issue was fore seen by well wishers even before independence by Tamil scholars and politicians. If all South Indian States, Maharashtra and Odisha stood against imposition of Hindi, these issues might have been avoided. All Govt institutions and banks are filled with people from Speaking peoplel as they have a chance to write exams in their local language whereas Others have constraints to write in English which is also not their mother tongue. Beyond this grace marks are given for Hindi Speakers during interviews. It is crystal clear that the Non Hindi speaking people are slowly loosing their hold and ultimately will become slaves to Hindi speaking people with their respective states. The worst is about to come in the form delimitation which would definitely a death trap for whole of South India as they will become irrelevant in parliament. Any political party wins most of the seats in the Northern states can form a government and the entire South cannot open their mouth. We not against Hindi but against its imposition and want a level playing field which permits all Indian Citizens to live as brothers and sisters with unity among diversity - for ever in coming years. Jai Hind.
Its very a fact that there is a distinct contrast between NORTH & SOUTH INDIANS. Majority SOUTH INDIANS co-operate & mingle with eachother rather than with the NORTH INDIANS.
Exams for bank jobs are conducted in Hindi language not in any so called regional languages. This is not fair. All language people should be given equal opportunity to compete in exams for banks and all other central government jobs. Exams should be conducted in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, Odiya, Marathi, Punjabi, Bengali, Urdu, Assamese and all other major languages spoken in India.
As a native Hindi speaker who has lived in the southern region for nearly five years, I believe that those who settle permanently should make an effort to learn the local language. While proficiency can vary, the willingness to learn is important. However, this may not fully apply to Central Government employees, as many are transferred from places like Uttar Pradesh to Tamil Nadu or Karnataka in an erratic and unreasonable manner, largely due to senseless transfer policies.
As a Southern Indian having more People from North India in our cities is a welcoming and a good thing as long as the Quality of such people is High ❤❤❤
The reorganisation of states based on language led to the geographical state for Kannadigas happened in 1956, but it still continued to be called Mysore. It was in 1973 that, after a struggle, that we got the name Karnataka. Bangalore has been very welcoming, too welcoming of the non-Kannadiga people who came in search of education and livelihood to Bangalore. This has sadly never been reciprocated by way of motivation to learn and practice the local culture and language. The imposition of Hindi and the brash behaviour of the North Indian migrant is the last straw. The Kannadiga should and will fight back.
Can I visit Karnataka for tourism or I'll be heckled for not knowing kannada, I am from Assam, I support regionalism and also I believe who ever living in a region for very long time should learn the language of that region. But I don't support the harrasment, I believe people should try to market there language well. And try to increase it's soft power, you see people want to learn Japanese and Korean these days, they have a lot of soft power. People should try to be kind while promoting their language. But also fight if government institutions has been giving more importance to Hindi or other language. You should protests rather than bullying people. If bullying gets common and normalised it sets a bad precedent.
Those people who are migrating to the Karnataka after 1990 for employment or business is the outsiders. Those people sold their properties elsewhere for highest money and invested in Bangalore for a small amount and started business to dupe the locals are cheated. Here in Bangalore the properties are very low rate at the earliest time now it has skyracted which we cannot believe, example a property at hebbal used to sale between 200 to 400 now the rates are as High as 13000 to 14000 per square feet, for this locals are unable to purchase who is responsible for the exorbitant rates.
Bengaluru is my second home after Chennai as I have visited it the most since the age of 5. Although I speak and understand Kannada to native proficiency I haven't ever made an attempt to read the script. The thing that shocks me the most in recent decades is that Kannada isn't the most spoken language- the higher strata of society talks in English and the rest are either conversing in kannada with smattering of hinglish or completely hindi. It is the attitude of north Indians that causes fissures in Bengaluru. I have myself witnessed irate and rude north indians in disputes with vendors or autowalas. The panelist is correct in that none of the bank managers can even comprehend kannada. I have had many tough times explaining peculiar complexities related to bank procedures that I had to switch to hindi (as not even simple English worked) to elaborate and save myself time. One can only imagine the harassment faced by a common person. Such interactions are surely leading to these fights. Same situation in post office, railways and airport security. Airport security in none of the south Indian airports can understand English, let alone local languages. It is a customer facing service and not just limited to identifying urdu speaking terrorists! Part of the blame is also to be laid with the kannadigas. While Tamilians earned a bad name and boycott by central govt and investment in TN due to tamil first policies, Karnataka politicians and people were ignorant of the dangers posed by being readily pliable to hindi imposition for the longest time. It was ok when central public sector was the main employer but now it is the private sector where hindi should not matter. Now the situation has reached a boiling point and friction. This may be a ripe opportunity for politicians in KA just like what Shiv Sena did for Marathi Manoos in Mumbai, but ultimately the nation suffers. The solution is for Kannadigas to elect administrators that safeguard cultural, economic and employment interests (not the kneejerk mandatory employment of kannadigas law passed by Siddharamiah govt). This has to be done firmly without hurting state's image unlike TN which has paid a huge price for protecting it's cultural interests in exchange for economic boycott by rest of India. Every non-kannadiga living in the state should make an effort to assimilate and treat the city as their own. Yes, admittedly it is a lot easier for Tamilians, Telugus and Malyalees to learn Kannada but hindi natives can make an honest effort. That's all the friendly kannadigas are yearning for -respect and appreciation for their hospitality.
Tamilnadu economic boycott. Which world are you in? TAMILNADU ranks second in National economy. U r biased by calling neutral. Tamilnadu never suffered. Period.
@ read carefully. TN’s growth has come from state and private sector im manufacturing, Tourism, medicine etc. No central investment in public sector industry since 1967! Even MAA is pathetic and national highways in TN are a joke
Sorry to be blunt : this is not deep research or anything close to it. The lady in blue, jumped from 1 topic to another with no coherence. A. 1905 Bengal partition was not linguistic but on religious grounds. Please be responsible. B. You absolutely missed mentioning the 60s, after the China war, a lot of PSUs were set up in Bangalore because Chennai was iffy due to the Hindi movement. Thats when blr started becoming cosmo, first wave. Not merger of 4 banks or IT. C. In your research you should identify that people who know atleast 3 languages (Mother tongue / English & Hindi) are 100% embracing the native culture. "North India" is lazy journalism. D. You didn't cover Kodavas & Tuluvas and their POV E. You didn't cover intimidation that's flirting with Law & Order. I'll stop here, my teacher would send back this assignment with red ink REDO.
Absolutely nailed it. This is the best comment. I hope the news article is nothing like this discussion. Serious journalism and hard work ? This was anything but that. She got the most fundamental facts wrong. I would add to your points by noting that she made a huge flaw on the creation of the Mysore state. The kingdom of Mysore became the Mysore state post independence. The reorganization of states act added the Kannada speaking regions of the former Bombay, Hyderabad, Madras presidencies to the Mysore state along with Integrating the then Coorg state. Bangalore itself was divided between the kingdom of Mysore and the Madras presidency (Cantonment areas of Bangalore). The state was renamed to Karnataka only in 1973 to have a more inclusive name for the state. People from the north of Karnataka felt that the name Mysore still represented the core Old Mysore region.
Absolutely agree with your comment, especially with 'C', in many states like North east and mid-west people have problems with speaking Hindi but they still try to speak Hindi/English, and they are still connected with their local culture.

Odisha was literally carved out of bengal because of bengali imposition on odias who then fought to preserve their language and get their own state. And hindi imposition is definitely real . The problem with hindi speakers is that they expect you to converse in hindi while they won't speak in english or the native tongue. And let's not pretend as if hindi itself isn't harming North India. There's a lot of info how a specific dialect of hindi is being promoted that's killing other dialects . I don't support the hooligans but this is my opinion on language imposition
We don't accept Hindi as bharat's National language at all......Hindi must and should be treated as equal to all other recognised languages of BHARAT......No more arguments about it.
Quite similar story in WB as well.. Targeted banks which are built by some local state people then grew in large scale.. they merged those banks with delhi based banks..
I can actually agree now why kannadigas feel the way they do. I am a hyderabadi who has stayed in Bangalore for 7 years and didn't understand their problem then. Now when i go back to Hyderabad and since it is now going through that similar changes as Bangalore went through. I now feel the same as they did. Especially with respect to language, atleast our people are not protesting and happily talking in hindi even with local people. I am hearing less of Telugu nowadays in Hyderabad and it is worrying me.
for the comparision with Tamilnadu, Alisha is ignoring the fact that majority of south indian states were predominantly ruled by national parties which has clear bias favouring hindhi language, while tamilnadu has regional parties ruling for more than 100 years (except 4 terms of congress). all those regional parties are result of aggressive hindhi imposition from tamilnadu congress. periyaar is not so relevant here as this started even before his time.
That last bit is most important, well said. As long as folks empathize with the other folks, all issues will be resolved. Language is just a tool for human communication and expressiveness, the worst thing for it to happen is become the exact opposite: a tool that creates ethnic hate and division among a group of people. Folks should stop being insecure or too emotionally attached along linguistic lines, and try to explore other facets in the journey of life, there is just so much to learn and explore here for one lifetime!
Firstly there is a fundamental problem with the Kannadigas which is similar to that of the Tamil mindset. Majority of them are not enterprising towards the outsiders. They even have generic animosity towards people from their south Indian neighbouring states too who do not speak Kannada. Perhaps this is due to their lack of exposure to other cultures of the country as they mostly prefer to stay within the state for education & jobs. In shark contrast, I find Keralaits are more enterprising when it comes to accommodating people of other cultures. They too have a 3 language policy with no resistance towards Hindi. Yes, I do agree that many of the Hindi speaking people come with a pushy, arrogant & superiority mind set perhaps with the false pride of their better looks or skin color but without any matching intellects or culture of the south indians. South Indians score very high on education & English speaking abilities. Again, Hindi belt people are often insensitive to the rich & classical language culture of the south indian states. But coexistence is still possible as it happens in Kerala provided Kannada speaking people of Bangalore accept the fact that Bangalore is a cosmopolitan city. Let us not have a repeat of Mumbai of the seventies where outsiders were targeted for vested political interests. Thirdly BJP is wrong with their policies trying to forcefully impose Hindi here. But then Kannadigas only elected them to rule. I feel all the 5 south indian states & Pondicherry should come together to protest against such Hindi imposing policies by the central govt.
In Assam people celebrate a lot of language dibas. Bodo, Rabha, karbi, mising, Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Nepali,Hmar, Manipuri,Nagamese etc and I hope no pro Assamese sentiment rise in Assam in future.
I came to Bangalore from the North in late 90s and faced discrimination in college. but then I learnt to speak the language Kannada. today I can speak well enough to have basic conversation . I made best of friends in Karnataka and learnt they are just people like us. Both groups should try to put some effort and meet in between. Hindi speakers should try to learn the language and Kannadigas should set up classes where people can come and learn the language. Our Country is very diverse and we should cherish it not get divided because of it.
I am from Bihar and since two years i am residing in banglore. I have full sympathy with kanadigas for their concern about preserving their language. I wish we had similar feelings for our languages in north . Many might not be aware but hindi is not the mother tongue of most of north indians, it was always ment to be a contact language which has been made into state language by imposition. Rajasthani, Braj, awadhi, bundeli, bhagheli, chattisgarhi, bhojpuri, magahi, maithili and nagpuri are the languages which are native to states perceived as hindi heart land. If Hindi has to emerge as a contact language of india it has to decolonise all the languages it has put on the verge of extinction.
Agree with Kannadiga brothers and sisters. People living in Karnataka should know Kannada. But there should be no persecution in case people dont know. Both the extremes are equally bad.
Hi, thank you for watching. I am the lady in blue. I never said the partition of Bengal was done on linguistic lines. After the partition there were movements to reunite Bengal. It was these movements that provided the spark for demands for linguistic states back then. But youre right, I can see how what I said migjt not have been clear. Also, please do read the story. The actual problem with North Indians migrating to Bangalore, we south indians never had that issue, since most of us adopted Kannada, and we speak more Kannada, then our mother tongue, we should never allow other language take over us, it's our identity ❤
Here are the details of an outsider: 1) Kannadigas who don't know anything about this land, language and culture. Good number of these people take pride in knowing other languages also. 2) Non Kannadigas came here for their living, but even after living here for more than 3 years (which is more than enough to learn any Indian Language) didn't even try to learn Kannada.
Just imagine if all the people from here go and start settling in a north city. The people there would be terrified and would not be half as welcome as we kannadigas are! It's the balance that is missing here, it's high time that the government takes action on this matter and segregates the corporate companies to different parts of India, instead of stocking everything at one place. I'm feeling so left out in my own place. I'm planning to move to a different part of the state to live peacefully in a couple of years. I know if this continues like this it's gonna be a huge mess🫤
Well Said Aneesha, North Indians have the advantage of writing a technical exam like IBPS in Hindi language and also whole ecosystem of cracking a banking exam is in the north and when they are posted here, especially after the merger of our very own state bank of Mysore which has so much of emotional attachment with every Kannadiga as it was started by our own Sir M.V. And other banks like Vijaya bank etc. we definitely feel our language is under siege in our own state. When the people in banks look at us in a shocking way and sometimes in downtrodden way when we try to communicate with them in their language. We have come to deposit our own hard earned money, such biased treatments will definitely make us feel something is wrong

@@shoaibha When are you gonna talk about Hindi imposition by the centre ...

Then in the year 1973 (November 1st) the then Chief Minister Devaraj Urs decided to change the name of Mysore to Karnataka . Meaning Kannada Speaking State . In the ongoing debate around the imposition of Hindi over regional languages, it’s essential to unpack the dynamics of cultural respect and linguistic diversity in India. Here's a consolidated response addressing multiple facets of this discussion:
Language and Cultural Identity
Language isn’t just a tool for communication-it’s deeply tied to a region's identity, history, and culture.
Political and Administrative Biases
The dominance of Hindi is not a natural phenomenon; it is fueled by political and administrative decisions.
Imposition
There’s a difference between mutual respect and the imposition of one language over others.
Democratic Dialogue, Not Conflict
Resistance to the imposition of Hindi doesn’t mean advocating for conflict or violence.
Final Thoughts
This isn’t about rejecting Hindi or forcing any regional language on others.
Krishnadevaraya is from tulunadu pls dont claim him. We need tulunadu as a seperate state.

This is a well thought out topic to discuss and appreciate the work done at TNM
No you will be fine
TN’s growth has come from state and private sector im manufacturing,
Tourism, medicine etc. No central investment in public sector industry since 1967! Even MAA is pathetic and national highways in TN are a joke

D. You didn't cover Kodavas & Tuluvas and their POV
E. You didn't cover intimidation that's flirting with

Dud u ppl are shameless , north ppl lost wars gave 370 , china acquiring km of land n u ppl dint have guts to handle all , n u ppl looted our public banks n settled , u ppl don't have sense of belongingness who wants to illegally get into USA , such a shamless ppl , if u have some self respect go build ur city , o else jus foook off
Odisha was literally carved out of bengal because of bengali imposition on odias who then fought to preserve their language and get their own state.

We are Indian this is our real identity.
for the comparision with Tamilnadu, Alisha is ignoring the fact that majority of south indian states were predominantly ruled by national parties which has clear bias favouring hindhi language, while tamilnadu has regional parties ruling for more than 100 years (except 4 terms of congress). all those regional parties are result of aggressive hindhi imposition from tamilnadu congress. periyaar is not so relevant here as this started even before his time.
The news minute who has 90% of non Kannadigas are preaching this 😂
That last bit is most important, well said.
This started because of bjp to make hindi a national laungage where all this started😢
Where is the story?, Can you drop the link in the description, I want to read.
Only kannada❤ no other language

The actual problem with North Indians migrating to Bangalore, we south indians never had that issue, since most of us adopted Kannada, and we speak more Kannada, then our mother tongue, we should never allow other language take over us, it's our identity ❤
Here are the details of an outsider:
1) Kannadigas who don't know anything about this land, language and culture. Good number of these people take pride in knowing other languages also.
2) Non Kannadigas came here for their living, but even after living here for more than 3 years (which is more than enough to learn any Indian Language) didn't even try to learn Kannada.
Mysur state was named as Karnataka in 1973, not in 1950'
Tamils, telugu, malayam peoples learn kannada, very well but others refuse to learn
As a Bengali I fully get what Kannada speakers are complaining about
not only Hindi speaking people, even malayalees and Tamilians are also getting targeted.
