Thank you for sharing one of our indigenous music with us. No place like home. Thank God for Sierra Leone as we continue to pray for it's existence in faith, health & prosperity, even after a decade of war and now ebolah.
Thank you brethren for sharing this classic piece of music from the land that we love Sierra Leone. I'd appreciate you so much if you could upload another classic piece from Dr. Orloh titled " Power Way Norto You Yone" Thanks a bunch in advance.
Been looking for some Milo jazz for years, ever since John Peel played Sierra Leone Unite. Thank you for posting. Got Dr Oloh's name finally last week via Gideon Coe's BBC 6 Music show : )

Thanks very much for this. I have some cassettes of Dr Orloh's music but can't find any online - and would love to, to make a change from all the hard house music I normally listen to whilst running! Dr Orloh's gumbay music always lifts the spirits and I would love to know who I could download the tapes I have or get them online so all ideas or responses are welcome (polite ones only please!)
I'm doing something new with our local sounds in particular goombay and Milo jazz I called it Gumbe Fusion Please check the links below 🇸🇱🔥 th-cam.com/video/F2hkVU58wIk/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/XIn18HY3IAQ/w-d-xo.html
Tondo. A Mende song, but let's just say the lyrics here are gibberish. Dr Oloh didn't speak Mende so he muddled his way through the song as best as he could. "Tondo" was Mende slang for a pregnant woman (I don't know if it's still used). The original song is about a newly married man (or maybe correctly, a man who marries a new wife).
@@nikiibu Thanks so much, and even though I felt a little embarrassed and the hyper simulation not to mention the inaccurate cultural appropriation, at least now I have a good working context for the song. Tenki Tenki! 😊
@@nikiibu also, do you write Mende? Could we write a version of this o f that pays it the lyrics it deserves? Let me know , and I’ll find a way to IM you etc…
@@prezellthomas6065 No worries. There's nothing to be embarrassed about Dr Oloh singing this song the way he did it; he heard a song he liked and tried reproducing it. Yes , he felt short but it happens to the best (and the worst) of us. So I don't think it's 'cultural appropriation' in this case, not in the strict sense of the term. Am I being a little indulgent?

So, the third track on this, sounds like its called Songo. Does anyone understand the gist of it, care to maybe translate a little for me? Thanks!

@@prezellthomas6065 Do you mean if I can transcribe the song? It's not impossible but I don't think I recall every line of the original lyrics.
