If a Governor can loot up to 85 billion Naira, then why can't they pay more for salary? The prices of everything in Nigeria right now is 3.5 times what it was before. So, to be realistic, minimum wage should be around 120k. And there's no going back on that.

The same people who looted away all of our wealth are the ones that cry when we ask them to pay workers what they deserve.

It’s fine to demand and receive this 650k but I fear serious hyperinflation will follow suit which will shatter the value of that 650k. So a sensible approach is necessary!

600k per month in Naira using the current exchange rate amounts to less than 3 dollar per working hour.
This is poor compared to OTHER African countries (NOT COMPARED TO EUROPE OR AMERICA).
Nigeria is not in the list of top 10 African countries with the highest minimum wage.
If we want to build a prosperous nation, we should emulate other serious countries in Africa

How much is the salaries of those in the national assembly, governors, ministers, diplomats to the extent that only one, two three people can embezzle millons, billions of naira in this same county.

Why is Nigeria not digitalising wages, that is per hour. People should be paid according to the and hours put in. This is a very old out dated system of calculating wages.

Why does people keep on saying 30, 000 minimum wage to 615, 000 living wage according to the Nigeria workers is unreasonable or unrealistic. When subsidy was removed PMS was increased by 300%, when the naira was floated inflation was risen to 33.7%, now the electricity tariff has been increased also by more than 300%. With all that increment what's unreasonable with a living wage of 615, 000 naira. Minimum wage should be between 200,000 to 300,000 at least

Oga, you need to park well. No employer pays an employee based on his/her needs. You are paid based on what you bring to the table. Even in the developed world, people have to do 2 or 3 jobs in order to pay their bills.

Can is it possible to do 2 or 3 jobs in Nigeria

    • @jaysenossai7165

      Please don't mention developed country!
How much does a teacher in public school in Nigeria earn vs a teacher in public school in any developed country?
How much does a nurse in public hospital in Nigeria earn vs a nurse in public school in any developed country?
How much does a doctor in public hospital in Nigeria earn vs a doctor in public hospital in any developed country?
      the compare it to:
How much does a politician in public office in Nigeria earn vs a politician in public office in any developed country?
Most Nigeria workers are under-paid even though they bring a lot to the table.

The NLC chairman is 100% realistic those who wants critical reflection should tell the presidential candidate of APC to bring out numbers we are not talking RHETORICS. Workers are expecting 900,000
So they an have savings after paying for service and needs.
    Kerosine/ Gas
    Fuel / Solar
    Electricity
    Food
    Rent
    Education
    Medical/ Health care services
    Water
    Clothing
    Transportation
Check the index. THIS ARE BASIC THINGS.

Segun , there is no State in Nigeria where overhead is up to 30% of their revenue but unimaginable level corruption is the problem..

  • @juvwon

The NLC keep dangling money in front of the populace, the same way politicians do to turn their heads and not make them think properly.
What does every single worker need their wages for ? In no particular order, Accomodation, Feeding, Take care of their health and those they are responsible for, transportation to and fro their place of employment amd educating themselves or thise that they are responsible.
They have been dragging this wage issue no be today, amd as they move to a figure, the inflation of goods and services keep drowning the figure, they keep hullabaloo-ing about.
Let them fight tirelessly and relentlessly for the basic needs of everyone be made affordable for everyone, by subsidising it.
It may seem far fetched from a hungry person's perspective, but this minimum wage brouhaha will continue and they will be playing on people's stomach.

Can you fault the calculation in the present day economy. What is the government offering?
What is the minimum wage in dollar term in other African countries? This is what you should consider.
