Kudos to Nassarawa state! My two cents on the Lithium-harness would be: Please do not make what I call " the crude-oil mistake" of Nigeria. There should be imminent plans to start up battery companies immediately, effectively! Partner with developed Chinese companies like "BYD" and "CATL" for cost-effective production of batteries and associated products including electric vehicles. We must not let that dream die! We must not just embark on exporting the raw-materials, Let Nassarawa own the entire market! God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Nice one Gov Sule. I wish to partner with you on the Lithium Mining & processing project. The govt cannot hike prices of fuel, electricity and not provide water but expect the people to accept below living wages. It’s inhuman to say the least. My opinion.

That person talking of industrialised countries where a person can engage in two jobs, is that possible in our country? You have not seen one good job not to talk of two jobs.
Many people teaching in private schools now don't even earn more than #15,000 in a month. Many even earn far less than that.

Oshiomole just gave federal government an advice on how to introduce more local products. To all the car manufacturers and other foreign products, if you want to market your products in Nigeria, they must be produce here. Comrade oshiomole hit the nail on the head.

My question is, how did the NLC/TUC arrived at their minimum wage? Over the years, there has been disparity in salaries of Federal Government workers. I'm 100% sure that this has never been addressed by the Labour Union. You have a situation where a Fresher in Government Parastatals/Agencies earn more than a Director in the Ministry. Even within the three arms of Government, I'm not sure if they receive the same salary.

Dear Mr Senu and respected gentlemen,
I enjoyed your discussion and found your innovative ideas to be well-analyzed. However, the issue at hand is that we are witnessing an increase in suffering and hunger, as well as increased budget allocations to states. It begs the question: who is not looking in the right place or speaking up about these issues?
    Thank you.

Lithium, if may ask, isn't in the federal exclusive list? Where is the revenue from this Lithium going to state or federal? This is why a resource control bill is necessary.

In addition, there's need to separate allowances from Basic Salary. The agitation for increased salary will not stop if this is not done as it used to be before former President Obasanjo merged both Allowances and Basic Salary. Allowances can be tampered with without affecting the Basic Salary. Note that this only affects the Core Civil Servants in the Ministries.

If Nigerian states were doing what is expected of them, setting the minimum wage for the states supposed to be the responsibility of the states based on the resources and revenue available in their states. The Federal Government also will have to deal with the minimum wage for the workers. It makes no sense to have one minimum wage across the country as the organized labor appear to seeking because the cost of living varies across the country. What some of the governors are doing is the way to go. They are cutting their coat according to their sizes. The government can never pay all the employees in the country their desired amount as salaries, no government does that. As the Governor has clearly pointed out in the private sector, employers will address the income level to pay the workers putting into consideration the legal minimum wage plus what the companies revenue allows. For example in times of hardship cause by inflation some workers look to other alternatives to subsidize their income. No employer will embark on pay increase every time there is inflation. Even in industrialized nation with stable economy, workers engage in two jobs to meet their personal need outside the salary provision in their main job. Nigerians never look into this alternative and hence some people are not able to cope with the inflation. Workers needs to also look out for themselves in terms of income generation. Nigerians in diaspora will tell you that some of them have to do two jobs or work longer hours for those that get paid by the hour to make ends meet including supporting their families back home. Relating to the NLC President proposal, it is either he does not understand what the Federal government is doing as rightly pointed out by the Senator or he is simply a joker. When an employer offers a salary during an employment interview the salary is usually based on cost of living which includes all the item stipulated in the NLC list. Once already employed adjustments are made at the discretion of the employer or simply on pay increases as allowed in the salary scale. I have listened to the NLC President several times on this issue of salaries and he always tends to make demands which himself cannot meet if he was an employer. A pay increase from the current legal minimum wage of N30,000 to N615,000 sound very ridiculous regardless of the circumstances. The question again would the NLC president have granted such increase to his employee as an employer if ordered to do so buy the Government? He probably will cry of his business is unable to sustain such increase. Some states are unable to pay even the current minimum wage of N30,000 a month. Do you just open your mouth and ask for the impossible because you want your members to be happy? That is negotiating in bad faith just in case the NLC does not know the damage is causing to himself as the negotiator for the employees.

What is the average production of labours in the country. You can only increase wages when production increases. You have members of labour working in refineries that have not produce petrol for over 15 years. We have labours in ministries that are in cahoot with Ministers Governors to steal our money, Let the workers look at themselves.
