    You do not need to "declare" your car. The major benefit of parking and walking is that you avoid the inconvenience of waiting in a line of cars that can literally stretch for a mile to get back into the U.S.

    Guys this video is AWESOME! (so it part 2) Well done! So happy the tips in our blog post were helpful and it was really fun seeing you walk through Los Algodones and show the place and your experience. This seems like a good idea for some without dental insurance. I’m in need of an implant also because of a broken crown with a previous root canal. Dental estimate is $4k and insurance covers 50% - so less than they spent. I would also have two airfares and motel stays.

    • @HH-gv8mx
      @HH-gv8mx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just had three root canals done with the crowns it cost me $9000 in the United States. I already had two root canals on the bottom teeth and they failed or broke or something happened did not last long so that was $6000 down the drain. You must work for a company that has great dental insurance. Here in Florida, there aren’t even any dental plans that you can buy as an individual plan that any dentists will accept. 😔

    • @michaelwmcdonald
      @michaelwmcdonald 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@HH-gv8mx My insurance is through a company that accepts vets as a group. Nothing special in benefits, my crown I'm getting soon will be $450, so it's cheaper than even the travel costs to Mexico. However, if I needed that much work done it would be better to travel as insurance limits are 3k per year. I looked into dental travel to India before Covid, and that was a seriously good deal. Their equipment and education are state of the art and prices way below the US or Mexico.

      Hey Aaron, its definitely a personal choice. Being in my 30s I wasnt ready to go without a tooth and since it was right on the boarder of being noticable (right behind the k9 tooth) and on the upper we made the choice to do it. That said, things might have been different if it was a lower which I think would have been much less noticeable. Best of luck on your decision!

    Did they also do a bone graft? I am going through this process in the US, and they did a bone graft followed by 2 months of healing before checking if the jaw is ready for the implant. After 2 months the dentist says she wants to wait another 2 months to see if the bone graft will harden more before inserting a post. Did you have any discussion about the readiness of your jaw in that area?

    • @LivinliteNet1
      @LivinliteNet1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      When they did the extraction they did a minimal bone graft in combination with the placement of the implant. I did not have the crown installed during this visit, just a healing abutment that kept pressure off the new implant and allowed the gums to also heal around the abutment which has the same size (around the gum line) as the final crown. Then when i returned in 3 months (next video) they did another set of xrays to check bone health and then installed the final crown. Thanks for the question, good one!

    I just spent $9,000 on 3 root canals and a crown. One of the root canals was done a year ago and I can already see that it does not meet the gumline and it looks like a lot of bacteria is growing in there. I already wasted $6000 onto root canals on the bottom that failed. And the Dennis did an extraction and accidentally took out two teeth instead of one. Now my dentist is telling me that I need $10,100 worth of work. I don’t have that kind of money I’m trying to figure out which would be the best way to get from Florida to Mexico and get some dental work done by a reputable dentist. I’m sick of being taken advantage of here in the United States.

    What was the total estimate for the implant?

    • @LivinliteNet1
      @LivinliteNet1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      The total cost for everything was 2200 for us. This included the initial consultation, Straumann dental implant, crown, minimal bone grapt, and XRays. We had to pay 150 out of pocket cash for the CT Scan which was charged by another office. CT scans are very important when getting upper implants to ensure you do not allow the implant to enter the sinus cavity which can be a real nightmare..

    Very informative video. I'm in Palm Springs, only about a 2 hour drive. I need a new crown and post and have been quoted $1,800. I understand that in Mexico it would be about $400. BTW, where was your dentist in CT? (I grew up in Newington).

      thanks David, our first Dentist (the one we had the trouble with) was in Stamford, CT, the second which is a great dentist but expensive is in Darien, CT. Best of luck, we had a great experience and recommend Rubio but there are plenty of good dentist down there. Make sure to checkout the full article at livinlite.net/mexico-dental/ as we have much more information there. thanks!

      The cost of crowns vary based on material. Generally $200-$500. $800 would have to include additional work.

    Why wouldn't I just drive into Mexico?

    • @LivinliteNet1
      @LivinliteNet1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Driving into Mexico is a great option if you are going further than Los Algodones which is right over the boarder. If you are going in just for Dental/Optical, a car will make the trip take much longer. The line to enter back into the US is typically more than a mile long stretching around the city resulting in 2 hour+ waits to leave. Additionally your US based insurance is not valid in Mexico so you'll need to get separate insurance. For us, we also didn't like the idea of trying to find parking for such a short trip. That said, we are planning a trip to Rocky Point, which is a beach front Mexico destination for RV'ers. During that trip we will bring our car and RV. Its all depending on where you are going we think. Thanks for checking in and for the comments. Good question!

    Hi and thank you so much for posting this video. I have to get dental work done and your video with your experience and showing how clean the facility is helped make my final decision. I may have to go it alone and kinda nervous walking into Mexico by myself. Do you think its an issue? How far was the office from the border? I will be flying into AZ then driving to the border. Do you have any idea what airport to fly into and how long that would take? Just curious and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    • @cashonly6117
      @cashonly6117 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Suzan, don't be nervous. There have been quite a few that go over by themselves. If you fly into Phoenix, AZ, it's like 3 hours away. Fly into Yuma, AZ... You can search around TH-cam for others who have gone here and find all the information you need. If you find a place that you want to get your dental work done, you can go through dental departures website and make the arrangements and can even get picked up from the airport. We went to another place down there based on an RV'er that I watch. Loved it, going back in another week. Oh and all the places are within blocks of the border,

Its perfectly safe however we recommend not staying past dark as a precaution as the boarder does close. Our article has all the details at the bottom. Best of luck and feel free to ask us any additional questions you have!!

      you can definitely get a package deal price. Be prepared to pay when you haggle and you'll be surprised how much cheaper you can get a package but you have to be willing to shop/walk away and verify they are not simply replacing the work with cheaper materials. Good luck!

      Yelp is a great place to find honest reviews. Bad reviews get posted there, not just the good ones. She's not on there yet. You can add her and then write your review.
