      Girl we were genuinely worried about you. And I don't mean about your hair, we were worried about *you*
      You seemed totally crushed by what happened, and we understand since you consider your hair to be a huge part of your real life identity as well as your online identity.
      But while other girls who had similar experiences came back and got sponsorships by other brands while working tirelessly to rehabilite their hair, you were just quietly doing it off camera.
      We are happy knowing that you're still there. We are here for you emotionally, not just hair-wise.
      We're not just here because of hair. You can genuinely count on us to be here for you.

    I'm so glad you're recovering. Tha k you for Shari your story and tips!
    K18 has worked amazing for my damaged bleached hair. The more damage the more you feel it work. K18 kept me from having to cut my length. I have long, thick, curly hair. It takes me two pumps, rarely three. At the $75 (it cost here) I get 50ml, two pumps means I get 25 uses of this mask. That's $3 per use. I used it 1x a week for 8 weeks and then went to maintenance using it once every other week (so in maintenance a bottle will last me a year). It is a little bit pricey but I feel you get what you paid for, especially those with bleach and chemical damage.

    Yeah, Brad mondo doesn’t have a single clue how to properly take care of curly hair. After watching the Not So Pretty episode, I am far more concerned about the reproductive and hearing issues caused by DevaCurl/formaldehyde. Hair is important for sure, but now learning that the product appears to cause more damage than that, things women would not even dream of jeopardizing, is mind-blowing to me. How many other women have come forward with those issues?

    • @banaboom5942
      @banaboom5942 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I personally am concerned for the epigenetic risks that some of the chemicals they use in our hair care & other products are having on our children. I used DevaCurl while pregnant with my son, & his hair texture is surprising (it is similar to the “un-comb-able” hair texture that has been noticed in a few children recently in the news or on social media). I still wonder if those products some how played a role in the development & quality of my sons own hair texture.

    • @lastdays8500
      @lastdays8500 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wouldn't be surprised sadly. They are putting lots of sketchy and dangerous chemicals in most things we use daily now and ingest. The Government and these big companies know what they are doing. The fact people put their trust in the government during covid made me pull my hair out. The real conspiracy is trusting the government to know what's best for us when all along throughout history they never truly cared but spread lies and half truths to us. Do more research and pray to our ABBA Father for guidance by his holy spirit. Jesus is coming soon for his church. It's time to awake and not be woke.

      I'm 100% sure devacurl didn't cause those problems because it's pretty much impossible, and I'm actually surprised she isn't being sued for defamation :/

    • @goldielocks9092

      @@ziqrek2314 How'd you know it's impossible?

    • @ziqrek2314
      @ziqrek2314 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@goldielocks9092 I remember explaining at length when her video with the first allegations came out. Citing the studies and everything. Maybe you can still find that comment if she didn't deleted it haha.
      But in summary pretty much no topically applied products can cause hearing loss, period. Any hearing loss would be only temporary. Even if you suffer severe allergy reactions (anaphylaxis). There are several studies about this. There was one that showed some correlation between anaphylaxis and hearing loss on animals iirc tho.
      The menstrual changes could be explained by a thousand things and not specifically Devacurl, given that:
      1. Menstrual cicle variates with time and age
      2. It is also pretty sensible to lifestyle changes
      3.Even if she could eliminate those two factors (she can't, given that at least it she used the products for a couple of years and went though a really stressful period afterwards) a lot of products on our daily lives have chemicals that could alter your hormones balance: perfumes, cookware, fragrances, mascara... you name it. I'd be close to impossible to pinpoint the exact product that caused her problems.
      Last but not least, it's really important to remember that Correlation ≠ Causation. If you get sunburnt every time you eat an icecream you might want to blame the icecream, but we both now that icecream don't cause sunburns the sun does. Just because two things seem related doesn't mean they are, and all the "evidence" she has showed so far is just her experience. It's just correlation at best, and straight out lies at worst.
      All that said, I'm not saying Devacurl is innocent but that she can't even sustain her own claims with actual proofs. Following the ice-cream example, if someone randomly started saying this-brand-of-icecream caused their sunburns and hearing loss you would expect some proof of that. And if all they showed was just medical records that they "yup, you have hearing loss and a sunburn" but no proof of relation to the icecream brand you still wouldn't believe the icecream caused it. Even if a whole bunch of people would claim the same thing. They would seem like conspiracy theorist or just people that let themselves get carried away by the hype.
      I hope that all that made some sense. I'm pretty sure the hearing loss is impossible, and all her other claims are just extremely hard or impossible to prove.

    I am so happy to see your beautiful spirit back here on TH-cam! Girl, I found you as I discovered that when my hair was healthy, it is curly. My cousin was diagnosed with uterine cancer 3 years ago, when she shaved her head before the chemo and radiation took it, I shaved mine with her. It was only while it was growing back in that I realized that at 43 years old, my hair was not simply wavy in some spots, it has spirals, and coils and yes, the occasional wave. I wanted to keep them, and when I went looking for that other curl brand is when I found you. I stayed way back from that and have only used natural stuff on my hair since then, and although my hair can still get very heavy and start to pull the curls, coils and spirals into simple waves, that is when I know my hair is getting too heavy, or it is getting time to wash it. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your story so others don't feel alone and so those of us that are discovering our curls, don't fall to marketing gimmicks.

I’m still experiencing hair loss and frizz. It’s heartbreaking and I know it’s just hair, but it’s a part of my body. Losing any part of your body (hair, teeth, skin) in a permanent way is so sad.

    Wishing you well! 🙏🙏CGM destroyed my whole hair. I first used Deva some 10 years ago and it dried my hair as well as disrupted my curl pattern even back there.
    I moved on to other brands, but after 7 years I had a head full of dry, opaque, 2B/2C/3A thin hair when it was shine, 3A/3B and medium to coarse before I started it... while using the so called prohibited ingredients.
    I fell for the propaganda I'd keep my hair and avoid bad substances, which is inexcusable because I am a chemist. 😠
    I decided to do something when people asked me what I was doing to my hair that I was losing my curls and the hair fall became too much.
    A series of coincidences, tests that came back fine and an androgenetic diagnostic I didn't accept, I turned to my routine. I finally realized my hair/scalp loves sulfates/silicones and don't like oils (coconut in particular), which are in everything.
    I am not saying the method is bad for everyone. It didn't work for me. Three y later, my hair is still recovering, but my curl pattern has mostly been back while I went back to use what I always used. It is getting thicker again, my crown is fuller and the hair is shine again.
    I even went back to my ginger hair dye and could keep my curls. All in all, I am happy with my hair. Never again I'll fall for product propaganda without deep research on what it does.🤔🤔

      Thank you!
      As someone who has testet the CGM but seeing hair loss, flat, lifeless, no shine, and dead looking hair, I was thinking about quitting, but everyone said "its transition, hang in there... try this and that" and I've kept trying, thinking I did something wrong... But your comment made me realise its not just me...
      I will now go back to my regular products, which my hair loved, just deep condition and squish more often ;)
      **NB: Have never tried DevaCurl as they are not easily available in Norway!

      @@Anugita I am glad my story helped you. I also heard it was just the transition phase. I spent 7 years waiting for this transition phase to pass, insisting it was something I was doing wrong, jumping brands and in the end my hair got ruined.
      I like to tell my story so people get aware that if your hair gets bad after starting the method and never improves, it ain't for you. If people recognize the signs earlier, maybe they won't get to the point I did.

      My routine consists of shampoo and conditioner (every day unless I am tired😂). Then, I do the oil-cream-gel styling. I use Schwarzkopf Dark Oil, my leave-in (I have several) and gel (Osis+ Bouncy Curls, Curlsmith Flexible Gel or Seda Boom Oil in Gel, the last one is Brazilian).
      I detangle with the Tangle Teezer and style with the Denman D31 or the Tangle Teezer Ultimate. I bought recently the scalp massage brush from Tangle Teezer and I love it.
      I also use the Mane and Choice The Alfa Hair Oil Growth, Hobe Labs Energizer hair follicle stimulato and Greensations Thermascalp serum to threat my scalp and improve the hair coming from it.

    I’m type 2c/3a but I’m learning that having my hair always open and full of products is not the best idea! I started to wash my hair less frequently and wear them in braids and have them off my face and clothes. This is how women wore their hair and could grew it so long for centuries! Just a though for curlies who want to grow long beautiful hair. Maybe consider the older costumes for keeping the hair healthy. Washing often and lots of products beside having your hair always open can lead to more damage.

Don’t know why I switched from my natural products to diva curl in the first place. It totally ruined my hair but things to my persistence and gradually trimming my hair my hair is beautiful now. Thank you for your bravery

    Other than natural ingredients what specific products would you recommend for curly hair like yours? My hair should look like yours but it hasn’t in A LONG time and I haven’t even been using Deva Curl. I haven’t found any good products yet that work for my hair and seeing your hair is really encouraging!

    I suffer from similar scalp issues. Can you please provide any more tips for how to apply the black seed oil/aloe vera gel? Do I dilute the black seed with coconut oil or just apply a few drops straight to the scalp? I was also prescribed steroids but terrified of using them.

    You take care of that hair better than most people take care of a child. I would have cut it. Also I saw you on the HBO documentary Not so Pretty and came here to check if there was any updates, hopefully your health continues to improve.
    I live in Dominican Republic, and we have a brand of products called Afrolove which is the one I mostly use, when I watched the documentary, they mentioned ingredients and turns out all of them had it and I've been dealing with a seborrhea flare up for months (I do suffer from it and psoriasis but it usually lasts days at most) and I've noticed more hair loss lately, threw all of them out. You might have saved me from a lot of health issues I don't need on top of the ones I already have.
