    Here's an idea, why don't Strapcode make separate solid endlinks for a lot of the most popular watches out there? Owners of their bracelets could then just change endlinks and be able to swap it between more of their watch collection.
    You could of course argue that would detract from sales of customers buying multiple bracelets, but I don't think people do that anyway and the profit margin of charging say, £20 - £25 for a pair of tiny endlinks has to be greater than charging £100 for an entire bracelet. To me, it's a complete no-brainer.
    BTW. if Strapcode end up doing this, I want a share of the profits!

      They are short sighted. I do not own a strapcode. But it would have encouraged me to get a strapcode if I knew they'd sell me an endlink. £80 on one bracelet is just too much, especially as I have a lot of watches that I swap straps with. If they're not going to play ball them I'm not buying their stuff.

    Just bought a JDM Seiko Chronograph. Replaced factory bracelet with straight endlink president bracelet. I think the space between the endlink and the case makes it look vintage and exotic.

    I learned this the hard way. I thought by just getting the radius and the width correct I could fit a bracelet with curved endlinks designed for a Submariner into my diver watch. The pin hole was 1mm off, it was designed for the 116610 which has very curved down lugs.

    Hey mark...great video. I wonderd about the same thing. However, i took my strapcode super oyster from my skx009, and was actually able to fairly easily put it on another watch. Only one though. The watch was a cheaper chronograph quartz piece by nautica. And wow did it actually look great, and feel substantial! Lol. But mostly it sits correctly at home on my 009. But trial and error you may have luck with something. Was a little tight on the nautica, but works good. But i love the infi you provide on these videos.

  • @harryhirsch7023
    @harryhirsch7023 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Marc,
    thank you very much for the video. Even though it is obvious that a specifically designed endlink can only fit other watches accidentially people now have an understanding as of why this is the case.
    There is another thing about a strapcode bracelet which came across when I was looking for a new strap for an SKX007. I was interested in the Angus Jubilee with curved endlinks for the SKX007. Ultimately I decided for the straight endlink version (which then unfotunately had to be the Super Jubilee instead ). The reason being that all I saw of that combination was basically a not-fit, even though the endlinks are marketed specifically for the SKX007. Even the pictures on the strapcode homepage show a non-perfect match.
    I would be interested in how the bracelet actually fits if a pro like yourself does install and review that.
    Could you imagine a video about that combination would make it onto your shortlist?
    Best regards and keep up the good work

    My good sir: I love your how-to videos; they are incredibly helpful. One bit of constructive criticism specific to the how-to videos like the above...these videos really could be about 1/3rd as long.
    Bear in mind that for someone looking for instruction, there are unfortunately hundreds of similar videos; and unfortunately the vast majority of them are useless.
    The result is, a viewer needs to often times glance at dozens of videos on a topic before finding one that is a) accurate and b) concise. And this is very much hampered when trying to scan through a 17-minute video that could just as easily be a 5 minute video.
    While I appreciate the detail and nuance of a longer video...it is sometimes a bit trying attempting to get to the "meat"...such as the title of this video...how to change the watch strap.
    Perhaps a helpful middleground might be the creation of two versions of a video? One being full length, and another being an abridged version that contains quick and fast 1-2-3-4 steps?
    Genuinely mean this as a constructive comment from a fan, and do not mean to imply criticism.

    Hi Marc,
    have you ever noticed that with some of the New Turtles the holes for the spring bars are not properly drilled? I bought an SRP789 some weeks ago, which was on an ugly rubber strap. Then i bought an Original Seiko Oyster bracelet, that the watch comes usually with from the factory.
    I used Fat Bars, but the end links of the bracelet rotate all the time, and sometimes stay stuck in an offset position, so that i can not wear the watch. First i thought that there was something wrong with the end links of the bracelet, but a member of the German Uhrforum told me, that it is not unheard of that the drilling of the lugs with the Turtles sometimes differs, and then the endlinks do not fit. Did you ever run into that kind of a problem, or heard of it?
    Thanks by the way for the bracelet resizing video with the pin and collar system. I followed your instructions and everything worked out just perfect.

    I bought a hexad oyster from strapcode last year and finally decided to put it on my 007 a few days ago. One of the end links isn't fitting properly and will not allow one end of the spring bar to align properly with the hole. Their customer service is terrible as well as how long it takes for them to ship, and I fear it's much too late to contact them about it. I suppose I should have quality checked the thing when I got it but for a bracelet that cost 120.00 I expected more. This is highly disappointing and extremely frustrating. I spent two hours trying to get the thing to fit. A machinist friend of mine who is also into watches looked at it and said the endlink seemed to be off measurement therefore not allowing it to seat flush. SMH.

    How do they make the lug holes on the inside of the lugs of a watch? It's so tight, I think nothing short of a dentist drill would work.
    I'm just asking because I recently got a bracelet from the same brand as the watch and they said it was supposed to match.. the fitted end link. But, it doesn't. It is like 1mm off and the lug holes on the lugs are closer to the inside of the watch. So, no matter how much I push the end link up against the side of the case, it cannot go any further, so it does not clear.
    Not going to get into fiasko of how it got resolved and what needs to be checked and perhaps redone on their end to make sure it fits as they said and was designed. But, they basically let me keep the bracelet and refunded me the money. Maybe later if and when they may have this worked out they may get me a fitted end link that works.
    So, my question about how does one make lug holes in the inside of a watch is because I was wondering how hard would it be to make a 2nd pair of lug holes that will work with the bracelet's end links that are not quite right right now?
    I can't seem to find any rotary tool that is small enough that can fit at a right angle and drill straight if I wanted to try and modify and add a 2nd set of lug holes onto the watch myself.. or, do you think this is something that a compentent watchmaker can do?

    • @islandwatch
      @islandwatch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would imagine they are cast that way in one situation. Or machined with a right angle drill in others.

    Hi Marc, I bought a Seiko SRPA21 PADI from you recently. Does Strapcode make a Super Jubilee bracelet that fits this watch, and do you carry it?

    I had that trouble was trying to fit a Rolex band to one of my watches but the leg holes on one side of the case didn't line up so there was a slight gap

    My issue was that my turtle has one a slightly mishapen side and the solid end link will not seat properly to get the spring bar to snap into place. Really sucked that I had to return two bracelets to discover it was the watch and not the bracelet.

      @islandwatch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That can sometimes be the issue.

    Hey Mark! I just got a super jubilee bracelet for my padi turtle and had a really hard time with getting it on the watch.. I ended up taking it to my local jeweler and even he had a hard time with it, but eventually got the bracelet on. Have you had any problems with strapcode bracelets for the srp turtles?

      My strapcode bracelet is for the Alpinist has very tight tolerances. It takes a lot of effort to align the spring bar.

      They are very tight fits. And it needs to go perfect or it won't fly.

    Hi Mark, do you know of a person who can regulate my Powermatic80 Khaki king.
    It runs fast and can gain a minute a day.
    Because the movement is relatively new I don’t know someone who is qualified.
    Any help is appreciated.

      Well maybe I should check the watch for being magnetized first.
      It is heavily magnetized so hopefully that is the issue.

    Are their any aftermarket bracelets for the Samurai at all ? Would the ones that fit the skx and turtle fit it since they are all 22 mm ? I would like to purchase one of the Samurai's that only come on a rubber strap, and put a nice bracelet on it, bc I cant do the rubber strap thing. I think it kills the look of the watch. Anybody know anything about this ?

    I've heard that SKX bracelets will fit the Casio duro - some online have said only the originals with Hollow end links will fit, however even strapcode have a product image of their SEL bandoleer bracelet on the duro: www.strapcode.com/products/metal-ss-bcl20-b102?_pos=21&_sid=974045a85&_ss=r
