Call me weird if you want, but I consider Toys among my all-time favourites. It’s a brilliant, surreal film that was just beyond the ken of most viewers.
I honestly think when it came out they didn't understand the TRUE meaning behind it but what baffles me is how could u ignore that soundrack?!amazing:)
"Toys" was one hell of an original piece. It was strange and it strayed away from the norm but where it landed is what people loved, including me. "Toys" is a memorable film and should be entered into a vault that contains original films of historic importance because of it's originality. I also can't forget the soundtrack of this film at all because that is one aspect about it that keeps me coming back. Especially Robin William's and Joan Cusack's perfomance of "The Mirror Song."
Adrian Stokes Furthermore, the pertinent song should go down as an American national Christmas song. I want to hear this song on the radio. There is no reason why it should not. Listen to it. LISTEN! What's NOT Christmas about this song?
Toys is a movie for adults, reminding them that there is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping your childhood with you. It is the time when we dream of what we want to be. We should never stop dreaming.
Now that Robin Williams has passed, I dunno if I can ever watch this movie again. It's one of my alltime favorites, and already makes me cry. Y_Y Blessed journeys, Robin. You gave the world so much... *crying again*
Roseluck Serendipity Your particular choice of racial slur is disturbing. It's disgusting and disrespectful to human beings who went through hell at the hands of white people. Not cool. As for describing Williams as a bastard, shame on you, have some respect.
Ah you should watch it! Seriously, I just watched it myself, hence my reason for trying to find this song. I haven't actually watched that film for probably a couple of years maybe but it was really great to watch it again and see him being a good old silly fool! You'll cry no doubt, but I guarantee you'll laugh more.
spidess111 You make a good point. There's so much joy, innocents, tenderness and heart in this (as in the rest of the movie, which is *exactly* why I love it so much). ^_^ So.. maybe when the holidays come, me and my friends will get together w/silly hats, stuffed animals, maybe have a drink or two, and watch this movie. :):) ♥
When I heard of Robin Williams' passing, I thought of a beautiful song from a movie I watched as a child. I couldn't remember the name, but after a bit of research, I found it. Beautiful song, and it had to go in my Robin Williams tribute on my channel.
+kirin-rex, same with me. I can't believe how badly it flopped at the box office when it came out in '92 because the imagery throughout the film and Robin Williams' trademark genius were a winning combo. Plus, it's underlying message is even more relevant today, just like John Lennon's post-Beatles work!!
This song is a favorite in my house around Christmas time. My entire family knows this is the song that speaks of the Christmas season for me; great movie too!
Wendy & Lisa, genius and pure sentiment. Merry Christmas to all watching this video, enjoying this touching song and to all music lovers around the world. Times have been difficult lately but we will overcome.
This movie brings back so many memories. The puns, the songs, the performances from Sir Micheal Gambon, Joan Cuzak The late Donald O'Connor, LL Cool J and of course the incredible and lovable Robin Williams. This movie stands as one of Robin Williams masterpieces next to HOOK, ALADDIN, JUMANJI, MRS DOUBTFIRE, ROBOTS and DEAD POETS SOCIETY. He kept me laughing from start to finish in the movie TOYS and on MORK AND MINDY. We all miss you Robin and at this time of the year when we remember our loved ones, you will be remembered.....all our love and dreams to you and May your smile shine brightly in the stars at the Closing of the Year....we will NEVER forget you. Rest in Peace...my friend
Best Christmas song ever produced. I've never forgotten this movie and never will. one of Robin Williems best proforminces. Very funny and sad all at the same time, Funny movie and sad that it's been over looked and forgotten by everyone. should be on TV every year just like Rudolph, Frosty and Polar Express. Capures the heart of Christmas perfictly. Everyone is a kid at heart, It also shows family ties and too do whatever it takes for the pasion in which you and your heart believes in.
I didn't even know they made a video for this song. lol such an underrated classic. as much slack as the movie took when it was released, I'm amazed this still didn't become a holiday staple on the radio.
Totally ahead of its time. Thats why it got bad reviews. They just didn't get it. If it came out today it would kill at the box office. And the soundtrack is really amazing. They need to re release this in theaters. It would smoke (get it) at the box office.
I watched Toys just last night on Netflix and I instantly had to find this song. It was only rated at 2 stars on Netflix but I really love this film. When I ask most people if they have seen this they have no idea what I'm talking about.
this movie is a masterclass the end always brings me to tears those damn ninjas with their onions. this song always gives me chills its better that most ppl dont know we can watch it over and over. lol
Strange things this touching, neo-classic tune brings more to the soul than the mind...which it puts at peace... Drones are toys... The movie was prophetic.
If the sirens and muses of legend were flesh and blood and living in present day, they would sound like Wendy and Lisa. Lisa's dark melancholy piano and lilting vocals are the perfect complement to Wendy's textured lyrics, angelic voice and singular guitar. Remember the story of Ulysses and the Sirens? It's Wendy and Lisa's 'Always in My Dreams' I hear when I imagine that tale. I'm glad to know so many people love these gifted muses as much as I do.
I can remember when this movie came out. I was 16, and when it was released, I decided to go see it, after i did, every weekend i would go see it twice. Seen it about 10 or 12 times before it left the theatre there. Loved all the songs on the soundtrack, played through them all so much. Great times i remember.
It ain’t the the holidays until I’ve heard this beautiful song. PS Toys with Robin Williams is one of the most underrated movies ever made, and deserved more of a chance than what it got, Barry Levinson put his heart and soul into the movie, and delievered a message that I think is still relevant in today’s age.
+shunae86 The problem with 'Toys,' is its production design is really impressive, but the story enfolded around it is a mess - it just doesn't know what it wants to be.
2018 still listening. Most beautiful. Robin's memory lives on bright. Cherished forever. Love this song each year. Thank you *so* much for posting. Peace!
i Like the kids choir bit "Up on the knees of a sergeant major Ride through the woods with the wind in your hair Silver bells on a stolen reindeer As we race to the castle over there"
I think Wendy, Lisa & Seal make a very beautiful team on this song! So magical, hopeful & uplifting! Nobody could ever sing & play "The Closing Of The Year" like they do. I'd be worse off without this song if it were never composed & ofcourse if I never grew up with the movie "Toys" itself. & nowadays it gives me hope for a better Christmas, New Year & Future & that we can see all those we LOVE again once COVID-19, Delta & Omicron have totally disappeared for good! & we'll have no Plague to keep us isolated & separated from our loved ones & bands for those of us who are Singer-Musicians. 😇😀😉😌💖❤💘
Absolutely an example of the best written, best musicianship, best produced music ever. If you don't know Wendy & Lisa they are of Prince fame, under their name. Absolutely some of the best rock to be published, they are Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman. I simply cannot say enough about the immense song writing and musicianship of this duo. They went into music for film and television and have won an Emmy Award, I think because they were never properly promoted by their label. If you want to hear some of the most simply beautiful music ever to be recorded.
I loved this song and I loved this movie. This song never fails to make me smile. I work at a Hot Topic and while we were closing one night I just barely caught sound of it... when I realized what it was I turned the player off until the it was done. Thank you for posting this awesome video.
This song is a beautiful brilliant masterpiece ~~ and I wish that Wendy and Lisa could have composed and recorded more songs like this ~~ they absolutely have the Divine gift for such orchestrations, since they have been composing soundtrack and television themes, ever since this song! May God bless them!
One of the most amazing motion pictures of all time! Just beautiful. This song brings back many memories and is just amazingly well done. I totally want a bed like the sister has at 1:50 !!
One of the most underrated movie soundtracks of all time
One of the top ten underrated movies of all time. Awesome cast, completely original story, and an awesome soundtrack.
The soundtrack was and remains a total work of art.
Defo mate
I want to go live there!
Adrian Stokes So true. And after the movie came and went the soundtrack went out of print in a flash.
"Toys" was one hell of an original piece. It was strange and it strayed away from the norm but where it landed is what people loved, including me. "Toys" is a memorable film and should be entered into a vault that contains original films of historic importance because of it's originality. 5 stars dude!couldn't have said it better myself!
Adrian Stokes Furthermore, the pertinent song should go down as an American national Christmas song. I want to hear this song on the radio. There is no reason why it should not. Listen to it. LISTEN! What's NOT Christmas about this song?
Best Christmas song of the postwar era. Should be a standard.
Also, Seal should have gotten some sort of special Grammy just for that hat ;P
What you said is how I feel.
I miss Robin Williams too. Great actor, thanks for helping the Charities.
This movie is extremely underrated. This is one of those movies which serves to inspire billions of ideas.
For So many reasons, I choke up when I hear this.
Toys is a movie for adults, reminding them that there is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping your childhood with you. It is the time when we dream of what we want to be. We should never stop dreaming.
I love that they use this as a song in the Tribute To Robin Williams.
where is the tribute ? robin loved this movie
What a beautiful song! ❤️❤️
Thanks for the Good Memories. Merry Christmas. May Joy and Innocence Prevail.
Song still gives me chills.
It also makes me emotional cause of how beautiful this song is especially at Christmas 🎄
All I want for Christmas is a 4k restoration of this great film!
I LOVE this song and let my tell you just how much I want that duck bed!
Tears of joy! Thanks to Robin, Joan, LL, Wendy & Lisa! I won't stay ao long before I visit again! Happy Holidays all!
I never heard this song til I saw "Toys". Now it's my favorite Christmas song. Beautiful!!!!
Now that Robin Williams has passed, I dunno if I can ever watch this movie again. It's one of my alltime favorites, and already makes me cry. Y_Y Blessed journeys, Robin. You gave the world so much... *crying again*
I know what you mean :(

Miss you Robin. This has been my favorite 'xmas' song for decades and will probably be so for decades more.
When I heard of Robin Williams' passing, I thought of a beautiful song from a movie I watched as a child. I couldn't remember the name, but after a bit of research, I found it. Beautiful song, and it had to go in my Robin Williams tribute on my channel.

One of the prettiest Christmas songs EVER - almost made me cry the first time I heard it
When music pulled out pulling the old pull out the Seal bit!
Such a wonderful song. A highly underrated Zimmer gem.
I remember watching Toys when I was little. This song and the movie have always stuck with me. Still hard to believe Robin Williams is gone. 😢
Loved the movie then (1992) and forever will, and this song is amazing!
Requiescat in pace, Robin.
Omg the two women who collaborated with Prince god bless this song it's so beautiful.

I LOVE this song. As a kid, I watched TOYS so any times. This brings back many memories.
Beautiful. :)
The ending of Toys gets me crying every time.
I didn't even know they made a video for this song. lol such an underrated classic. as much slack as the movie took when it was released, I'm amazed this still didn't become a holiday staple on the radio.
LOVE Robin Williams, Love Toys, Love this song. Winning all the way around, here!!!
Totally ahead of its time. Thats why it got bad reviews. They just didn't get it. If it came out today it would kill at the box office. And the soundtrack is really amazing. They need to re release this in theaters. It would smoke (get it) at the box office.
I love this song and I love "Toys" (the film is a masterpiece)
Same here
I watched Toys just last night on Netflix and I instantly had to find this song. It was only rated at 2 stars on Netflix but I really love this film. When I ask most people if they have seen this they have no idea what I'm talking about.

An amazing song , fit for one of the most awesome movies ever .
Strange things this touching, neo-classic tune brings more to the soul than the mind...which it puts at peace...
Drones are toys... The movie was prophetic.
This song always puts a tear in my eyes. I wish my brother and his troops were home from this war.
This is really one of the prettiest modern Christmas songs. Too bad it is impossible to find for purchase (Amazon wants $42 for the CD).
I have it on my home computer, if you're still looking for it, DM me.
This is actually musical perfection.
My favorite Christmas song EVER! Merry Christmas everyone! :)
A Robin in a cage puts all heaven in a rage. Goodnight, Robin and Merry Christmas.
One of my favorite holiday songs!

one of the best songs iv ever herd
the best thing about this movie was this soundtrack. I love this song and wish it got more radio play during the holidays.
I can remember when this movie came out. I was 16, and when it was released, I decided to go see it, after i did, every weekend i would go see it twice. Seen it about 10 or 12 times before it left the theatre there. Loved all the songs on the soundtrack, played through them all so much. Great times i remember.
I believe Toys is underrated as s film. It is a unique storyline, and has a gifted cast.
So pretty!
Count the blessings that are real
I just watched this movie again and LOVE this song! The movie "Toys" is one of my faves!
It ain’t the the holidays until I’ve heard this beautiful song.

Best Christmas song, ever!

bonita canción voz hermosa
Fenomenal cancion, buenisima peli.
Requiescat in pace, Robin.
Those critics who gave bad reviews for this movie, i think they inserted the tape but forgot to press play.
Totally!
+shunae86
The problem with 'Toys,' is its production design is really impressive, but the story enfolded around it is a mess - it just doesn't know what it wants to be.
Great song! Liked the movie, too. It should be an annual offering on, at least, one of the eleventy jillion channels out there.
yes this song does bring back memories
2018 still listening. Most beautiful. Robin's memory lives on bright. Cherished forever. Love this song each year. Thank you *so* much for posting. Peace!
i Like the kids choir bit
"Up on the knees of a sergeant major
Ride through the woods with the wind in your hair
Silver bells on a stolen reindeer
As we race to the castle over there"
i was freakishly obsessed with this film when i was younger.
I can't believe i've never seen this music video/promo before.
...WOW......
hehehe.

I wish that the whole world could just put to practice what this song is conveying. It really speeks to my heat.
The closing of the year I'm going home. What a way to bring in the New Year 2019
This Song was a huge attraction for the movie..but I really think it was outstanding.. Loved it since it first came out years ago..
