Thanks for the great videos. My wife and i are heading to japan in late January, staying until mid-February, and will be heading to Sapporo for the snow festival for a couple of days. We absolutely can't wait.
At 1:00 this is actually a really cool scientific effect. Because of the lower temperatures, less sea water evaporates into the air. Because of that lower humidity, a lot less clouds are formed meaning much sunnier days overall and an epic view of Mount Fuji! 😁
Wow, I have been checking your videos because I’m going to Japan next November, and in one of your videos saw a Gibraltar postcard, I’m from La Linea. Thank you so much for your videos, they helped a lot, if I see you around I will stop you to ask you a few things! Muchas gracias!
Yes, Heat wave for this Canadian Prairie boy. I'm not as tough as @dyinggaul, so I won't be packing a kilt. I'll be in Tokyo in January so I'll be experiencing the winter. I will say that it snowed in Tokyo last February I didn't find the snow beautiful, but was a slushy mess. I do want to do an outdoor onsen with a gentile snow falling as those times are just the best. Good in the day and even better in the dark of night.
@@jimross7648 it is always interesting, as a Canadian Prairie boy and outdoor worker, to see what other countries consider harsh winter weather. We are leaving to Tokyo in a couple days and I’m packing a couple pairs of shorts. Enjoy your trip homie!! Great channel btw, lots of excellent info.
Would February 1st be a good time to visit Japan? I know it will be cold, but my family wants to avoid the summers, and avoid all the large crowds that happen during Christmas and New Years Eve, so we were thinking of skipping the holidays and go Feburary 1st, when (hopefully) the crowds are small and its more quieter.
Anytime when you can go is a good time, in terms of Feb it's a less crowded time but don't be fooled into thinking there will be no crowds! it's also a great time to experience lots of winter things and foods plus the fact that its one of the best periods to se Fuji
I wanted to ask which things specifically are closed and not worth visiting during the 28th-3rd January. Shrines: crowed but like is everything else closed? Is it everywhere or is it in smaller towns?
Shrines and Temples remain Open but very crowded for New Year’s visits. Museums and Historic Sites: Often closed from December 29 or 30 through January 3, especially in smaller towns. You'll find that some stores close on December 31 and January 1, but big city malls reopen for sales on January 2. Many family-run places close for a few days, while larger city spots and chains mostly stay open. but expect more widespread closures and limited services in small or rural towns
Hi nathan, could you please make an osaka winter guide video?like what to pack, the weather, the attraction, the transport, etc.i plan to go there in january..thank you ❤
when it comes to an Osaka guide most of it is the same or very similar to Tokyo (which is why i mention in this video that this one is interchangeable between the three main cities) maybe an attractions video could happen in the future
hmmm,... Winter weather comes from Siberia. The snow drops on the central mountains so in Tokyo it is just cold, dry wind. Haramaki are good to wear and kerosene heaters are good but will kill you if you don't open windows a bit (tourists in hotels will never see this though ... ). For Christmas it is extremely traditional to attend Beethoven 9th Symphony 「第九」performance. The most important and beautiful illumination is Kobe Luminarie I think.
I was in Tokyo 5th of febuary 2024, and before i left, i asked my buddy AfroInJapan, would i be fine with sneakers or should i bring my boots... Nah sneakers are fine, it never snows in Tokyo -_- god was he wrong, ended up in the most snow in Tokyo in years... typical my luck. Totally fell even though im a fairly routined in snow, just not with sneakers...
@@NinjaMonkeyguy i guess so ^^ it certainly was a new experience seeing snow in Tokyo, though falling wasnt the funnest. I was all good, just hurt my pride a little bit hehe
wrap up very cold, be ready for the snow and icy conditions but don't forget that the famous snow festival only takes place in Feb! .. eat the local food!
agreed, would have loved to have had a kilt when i was there during febuary, besides when i fell, but with a kilt i would probably brought my boots anyways

Uniqlo has big sales on winter clothes during winter, not after which is great.
Uniqulo is great for thermals too!
@@NinjaMonkeyguy Those are the ones I was talking about!
Uniqlo is nice but Winter clothing at Mitsukoshi will be the best quality ...
It's not feeling winter yet Nathan. 26oC with 91% humidity here in Kyoto.
Yea here at home its still warm too! .. but I know people start looking at winter planning videos now! :)
