I love my Renegade rod. Jerry designed a casting machine when he created this rod. Thanks for carrying this awesome line of rods at your shop.

You can’t get more “fishy” than Jerry French. He’s a super great dude and a great guide. One of the original OG’s of Skagit. I was able to cast his rod in the winter Steelie season of 2019. I was fishing a faster action rod and I was definitely working harder with my rod rather than I was with Jerry’s Renegade. I had a mismatched head for the 12.6/8 rod I was using. I had a skagit head for a 13.6/8 on the line. #FAIL. I was working a lot harder to deliver the goods. Jerry’s rod and line was more balanced and less fatiguing. Mine would have been better with a shorter head but I still was working harder to deliver the mail. The more progressive action is your friend in the afternoon. When you’re getting tired and your timing starts to get off on the faster rods. The Renegade doesn’t require as spot on timing as the faster action rod I was using. Again...this was noticeable after lunch when your body and mind are starting to fatigue. I recommend fishing with Jerry and also buying his rods. You’ll be happy you did both.

So can the 8wt handle chinook if I were to target them? Just as an all around steelhead and salmon rod.

I'd say it's a bit light to target chinook. The 9 would be better

This was the 8 weight. I like a 450 scout the best on it

390 or 420. I like the 420, but alot of people prefer the 390

@@swinganything4019 I fish a 325 OPST Commando Grove (intermediate, so they generally suggest going down 25 grains from what you'd use with a floating head) on my 7wt Renegade. I love it.

It's a company called Dryft. Not too familiar with them. I'd do t think I'd like them in the summer though. They only make black
