The Fight of the Black Grouse

- Join me to do bird and wildlife photography. This time I photograph the elusive black grouse and it is easy to join me as a wildlife photographer. The lek of the black grouse is one of the most facinating mating games and nature rituals of the North, if not even in the world and is a brilliant opportunity for bird photography.
🐺 ABOUT THIS VIDEO
When spring starts to hit the marshes of Norway, a tens of thousands years old tradition takes place again. The lek of the black grouse. Closely related to the Capercaillie, also this grouse bird fights for its right to mate in front of the eyes of everyone that dares to observe. Black grouse show a distinctive sexual dimorphism, the females with greyish-brown feathers while the male displays black and deep blue feathers and the characterising red bare skin above their eyes. Even females from time to time display on leks, like you will see in this series if you look closely.

How lucky was you, that hard work payed off Gunnar, can’t beat a Tragopan Hide
To finally have sunlight was a treat, yes. Makes photography easier :P It is nice that you can sleep in that hide, though it could be 5-10cm longer in length for my body size :D

Sehr tolles Video😍💪 mein Puls geht immer hoch wenn ich dieses gegurgel und das gezische von den Birkhähnen höre. Einfach etwas vom geilsten zum fotografieren, wenn auch nicht gerade das einfachste!
Ich weiss auf jeden Fall so einiges was ich næchstes Jahr anders machen werde fuer ein wenig bessere Resultate. Es ist schon eins der verruecktesten Schauspiele dem man hier begegnen kann :) Schøn das es dir gefællt!
@@GunnarDresler Die Gedanke was man nächstes mal anderst oder auch besser machen kann/könnte hab ich auch immer. Birkwild erfolgreich zu fotografieren ist für mich persönlich ein anderes "Level". Die Vorbereitungen für die Balz im Frühjahr laufen auch schon🙂
