    I just picked up a Max-9 for my new EDC. I took it home, cleaned and oiled it, and took it to the range. Compared it with my SR40C and although I love my SR40C, I wanted a smaller, lighter gun that runs 9mm. I love this little Max 9. The sights are great, the size, firepower and overall feel is great. I have always been a fan of Ruger and they have yet to disappoint. Never had an issue with any of my Ruger rifles or handguns.
    The Max 9 is a GREAT option for conceal carry. The sights being one of my favorite stock sights on any of my pistols. It also has a nice grip and the high-end barrel? Chef's kiss. It's well worth the money.

      I have a LCP II I carry when I cant conceal something bigger and when I am riding my motorcycle since its small and out of the way. I was hit by a truck at 70 mph while carrying it about 6 months ago. Spent a week in the ICU. Mostly recovered now minus pain from the knee surgery. Anyway, the gun was chambered, in my pocket and did not go off. My pelvis was broken in 3 places so its safe to assume the gun took a good bit of impact. So if anyone is worrying about its drop/impact safety I would say its pretty drop safe. I took it to the range a few weeks ago and put 100 rounds through it. They are great little guns.

    A very old and very good friend did me a great favor, and gifted me a Sig Sauer 365. I immediately bought 2 additional 12 round mags, and a Sneaky Pete OTW holster.
    What I have learned is, Glock got it right with the 26. Which I also carry in a Sneaky Pete OTW holster. And have, for years, occasionally.
    Weight difference between the two is noticeable. The 365 is much lighter, no question. As someone who works in dense foliage, get hung up on vines and briars a bit less, with the Sig. Not a lot, but old farts notice these things.
    The biggest difference I notice is, the extra weight with the 26 really does matter. I'm just more accurate with it. Is that because I've been shooting it for 8 years? And the 365 for 1?
    Probably. The triggers are identical to me, both break at 5,5.5, takes a better shooter than me to tell the difference.
    I love we have these options these days, may get a Ruger as it has a manual safety, for my sons or grandsons, as they are learning and both my sons carry their Glocks on an empty chamber at my recommendation. They aren't gun guys, might make it to the range 3 times a year.

      12 is the new 10. They're still trying to shake off the Specter of Big Bill, and trying to make guns that are nominally available in all US States without having to go to any extra expense. Ergo, in a few, 10-rounders are all that's legal, so Ruger only makes 10 rounders for theri small guns, even if they can technically fit 12.
      Interestingly, apparently, the body geometry of these later series of Ruger Semi-Auto's, starting with the SR series, use the same magazine body as the S&W M&P. I know it was a thing for a little bit to take M&P 12-round compact mags and cut a slot in them to match the SR9C's mag release, to give it 12 rounds.

    • @elche1976
      @elche1976 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      12 rounds kinda defeats the purpose of it being a pocket gun. Sure, you can slap a longer magazine in there but at that point you are best served buying another model that already does that. LCP2 isn't concealable when you try and go larger.

  • @loumencken9644
    @loumencken9644 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's interesting how the manufacturers have chopped the handgun market into finer and finer segments. For example, in addition to the Max-9, Ruger also sells the Security-9 Compact. They have the same capacity (10 in a flush mag); the only difference between them is the Security-9 has a two-tenths longer barrel, is a few ounces heavier, and costs $100 less. S&W has the same thing with the Shield Plus and the M&P 2.0 Subcompact, although the size differences are slightly more than the ones on the Rugers. It's nice to have options I guess.

    a Max380. Seemed nice. But after 30 rounds or so front sight fell off after couple dozen rounds. Jammed mech also. Slide frozen. Have had several Ruger long guns and pistols starting with the orig .22 target 60 years ago. Then model 2 then 3 plus long barrel versions. Their fine .45 for open carry with a sherrif dept vol.. Then .22 lcp2 and two lc9's. All worked superbly. The lc9 at 75 ft indoor range gave me 3 inch group. Am former Bullseye bronze medalist EIC military matches. Sadly the max380 has 10 inch group bench rest at 25 yards. Front sight fell off. Hold on bull but center of group is 4 inches high and 4 " left. This is after factory visit for repair. Cust service is excellent. But this pistol does not measure up, short barrel notwithstanding. Bit that is the only Ruger that has been a poor performer. My lcp2 is twice as accurate. Lc9 4 times. I had a S&W .22 with a 1.4 " barrel a 2214 that never missed a soda can at 50 ft. Just don't understand it. Only Ruger that was less than superb. For ccw recommend this video's featured pistol , max 9 or lc9. Or a fine Ruger revolver. Or one of each.❤
