My father served as a signaller in the Royal Corp of Signals from 1939 until 1946 attached to the 11th Armoured Division (The Black Bulls). He was always incredibly proud of his military career and I keep his medals and cap badge in a place of honour. Certa Cito ... Swift & Sure!
I was a,Radio Op & Lineman. Still have my belt somewhere 😂 Shame they binned the trade, began with changing it from Combat Lineman to Driver Lineman about 90/91 Wasn't as much Line as say used in Bruin but still needed Lineys. Did basically what we wanted 😂 drove out " checking Line" often
I joined the signals in 1970, Ileft in 1994 and set up my own communication company I have never looked back!!!!😊

You must be very proud of him and his service. Once a signaller always a signaller.
My first posting in 1990 within the Royal Signals was at Minden serving in 11th Armd Bde sadly now disbanded but served 16 years as a Corps man
@@sealandersoundscapes6403 Thank you so much for your comment and for your service. It was wonderful to read your comment. Cheers!
I am sure that wavell was never deployed actively in a combat role best we used it for was to pass time trying to operate the damn thing
Until the mid 90's? Ptarmigan was still being used in 2008! Was never in the back of a Land Rover either. Bedford's or AFV's.
SCRA(T) terminals, and Combat Net Radio Interfaces, both part of Ptarmigan and in Landrovers.
Had a SCRAT in a lanny Defender SWB in early 90s in BAOR.
