Cheers Mark! Yeah, the two places I've lived in for longest (The Black Country as a kid, and the Potteries area as an adult) both have a blend of industrial heritage, rolling hills and nearby countryside. I love that, makes me feel at home. Thanks for watching and commenting sir. 👍 Rich
Dear Lord no! It was 20 miles over the two days mate, sorry, should have made that more clear… but even then I was blowing out me hoop! People do the Pennine Way etc doing over 20 miles of hilly, bivvy terrain day after day for weeks… absolutely nuts!
Cracking camp Rich , I can’t imagine how bad it was stuck in the pub till the rain stopped 😂 I have the stratosphere which is very similar to the elan, used it on a few bike camping trips and does the job. TFS atb Dave
The frustration was tangible Dave - tangible! 🍺 I kind of wish I’d got the Stratosphere myself actually, I gather it’s a tad more roomy. But they do have their place these little bivvies eh? It was pretty perfect for the spot I ended up with. Cheers mate. Rich. 👍
Thanks Tim. That Firepot chilli con carne was tasty enough, but I got a right dose of the two bob bits the next morning - never good on a camp eh?! But it could have been the real ales too...
@@CottonBud Hahaha, oh crikey, Rich. I’ve still not had the pleasure of a camp No.2. Did plenty as a kid in the woods but not as an adult 😊 Still, if I can cope with the HOT tinned Stagg Chili, I reckon I could do the Firepot one 🤣
@@BourneOutside I don’t think it was chilli heat what did it Tim - it was something else, gawd knows what though. But weren’t purdy! I too have avoided ‘evacuations’ when camping for a good 4 years now - even on a three dayer I baked it for when I got home and could ‘settle’. So this was most unusual, and makes me reluctant to risk the Firepots again!
A wet start there Rich but how cool you bumping into your mate. These things are like sliding doors - that was on the cards. A lovely hill to camp on - it just goes to prove a local one is well worthwhile. Hey, I use a 2/3 mat too - they're fine. Well, apart from the motorway a nice walk back. How did you find it? All the best. Mark
Thanks Mark. Yeah the 2/3 self inflating Thermarest has been a bit of a revelation for the warmer months - it's even lighter to carry than their expensive Xlite. I can always put my little foam sit pad under my trotters if need be. It was a nice leisurely walk thanks mate, one I've been wanting to do for a while. And my mate Jack has a sixth sense for knowing when and where I'll be in the pub! Cheers boss. Rich.
@@CottonBud Yeah, been using 2/3 mats for years - just makes sense in warmer months. Good to hear of the walk and your mates intuition - it's like automatic dialup.
Thank you. The stove, stand and fuel bottle are by Speedster, ordered from their website. I also have a soldering mat for safety (from Amazon) and a small windshield by Vargo (quite hard to find but you may find one in stock somewhere on Google). 👍
Ευχαριστώ Maria & Fam! Don't worry yes, the bottle I am using to collect the water has a filter that screws into the top and claims to remove all microorganisms. I haven't been ill yet anyway! It can be a bit disconcerting as it doesn't filter out the colour - in the dark Peak District it still looks like black tea, even after filtering, and tastes a little 'smoky'. Quite nice actually, when you get used to it! You can see me using it a bit more clearly here : th-cam.com/video/llI6Sg1i9CI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kYYO5dI0co1-X3EJ&t=204 Thanks again for watching and commenting, and I hope you are all well! Awesome buddy .. cheers Chris & Sammy
Nice one Rich, looked like a nice camp and bimble. It must have been a nightmare having to take shelter in that pub! All the best 👍
The struggle is real my friend - these things are sent to try us. Cheers Barney! Rich
Google really needs a 😆 button as well as the 👍
Brilliant stuff as always!
Cheers my friend! 👍 Rich
Love seeing industry meeting nature in the first half of your walk. Great content as always, Rich!

As ever, I’m behind schedule so need to get cracking…
Then stops at the pub 🤣
What if the pub IS the schedule? 😅 There is a bit of a pattern emerging though... cheers Chris!
@@CottonBud very good point
What a marvelous trek indeed! Bruce and Otis
Thanks both! 👍 Rich
hey Rich, nice to see you out again. and make the best of it you did. 👍✌🖖
Thank you sir! Always nice to explore some new ground on my local turf (and sup a pint or two in the process...). Cheers!
My kind of walk! Good start and finish point 😂
All the best Mick
haha cheers Mick! Rich
Omg so you walked 40 miles in two walks that’s mental mate

@@CottonBud I was gonna say 20 miles is about 6 hours walking. Still well done buddy

Can’t beat being delayed in a pub, Rich 😂
That was a great viddy mate. Lovely views/scenery too.
I must try the Firepot meals. They look alright.

I now have to try a Firepot meal to see if it makes me go 😮 What a topic to end the evening 🤣

Loved the video Richard! 😍
Question: do you treat the water before you consume it?
