Chloe's life is so unfair... meant to be a scholar, started out that way... then her dad dies, her friend leaves, falls in love with Rachel who "disappears", and gets shot in the girls bathroom by the same guy who supposedly overdosed and killed the person she loves. There's also David (who's not as bad as he's made sometimes), and sure Max came back but at the time of Chloe's destined death, Chloe would never find out and die in a very lonely way.

So, yeah, she had to die, Max had to lose her powers so she wouldn't try to go back and save her causing a ruckus in time, why should a whole town pay for it though? The fact that the developers confirmed that Rachel is the doe is even more heartbreaking. She was leading the player to her body the whole time, and when they finally find it she looks down sadly and passes on.

I just pretend like LIS 1 didn't happen and after playing Farewell and Before The Storm in that order I just went on to reading The Road Not Taken. Probably the best continuation off of BTS so far. I finished the second episode of Before the Storm. Why on earth am I torturing myself watching this scene? This made the scene more relevant since playing Before the Storm. It's a work of art.

Guys, IT IS indeed a timeline with Rachel alive. Why? In BtS, you can find a photo with some students at Blackwell, and there is MAX. And that picture was made when she left Arcadia Bay. She fucked up time so much, I think she created some universe in which she never left and stays with Chloe. And if that is so, why it can't be one with Rachel alive? It's discutable, but time is something very... mysterious.
Phoenix actually Rachel took drugs way before Nathan was even a thought. She was with frank and had a “thing” or just a hookup which is still fucked up cuz Rachel never told Chloe. Chloe had to find out through max at the rv. But yeah they both use drugs so it was gonna happen sooner or later.
The deer at the end represents Rachel's spirit finally being able to rest knowing that her best friend at least had closure to her murder. And the ghost deer is seen by max a few times throughout the game. When max says " she feels like rachel is guiding them to the truth " she was 100% right. This game is a masterpiece, and before the storm made it even better.
Chloe has a depressing life, really. Once her father died, everything began falling apart. Max left for Seattle, and all her sadness and anger began building up from there. From David just being David, from her mother trying to coverup all traces of her father, to meeting the junkyard meltdown in Before the Storm. Then discovering Rachel's body, her angel. Her love. Then soon...giving up her life in order to save Arcadia Bay - the last piece of happiness other than Max she ever had. Instead of giving up the place where all of her sadness happened, she gives up herself in order to save the innocent lives that'll live on and have better lives instead of her.
At first, i didnt really know rachel it was simply sad, after before the storm i replayed it and i knew whats goint to happen so i was still just sad.But after watching someone playing trough third time, and i realized that the deer was Rachel and he was kinda guiding max, and when they found the grave she just sadly disappeared i dropped a few tears, i still get goosebumps when thinking about it.Fking brilliant dontnod.Brilliant.

After playing BtS I feel *really* bad for what happened to Rachel and for Chloe's feelings after that. I hardly gave a single fuck about Rachel while playing the original game, but not now.
Here's the thing: I don't think Rachel is gonna die during 'Before the Storm'. It's gonna end roughly a year before her disappearance. So the tension of whatever happens within BtS is perfectly intact. Only thing we know for sure is that certain characters (Chloe, Frank, Dana... basically everyone who appeared in Life is Strange) will most probably survive. ... that, or they will pull some "alternate timeline" plottwist, which would actually be GOOD for the tension.
after getting to know rachel's personality, her hopes and dreams, her relationship with chloe and her life, this is just sad...she was messed up but innocent as well. she had no idea what was coming to her and honestly the fact that this relates to people, makes it worse. i gotta say, telltale outdid themselves in all of their games, it just keeps getting better and better. ❤️❤️❤️

Michael Wong she was never a perfect friend to Chloe, she was seeing frank behind her back. And she was also banging Jefferson behind franks back. In the open Rachel may have been an angel. But in reality she was just as human as anyone else.
Before Life is strange: before the storm, I just thought that Chloe was really rude to Max JUST because she left, and cared ONLY for Rachel, However, after Life is strange: before the storm, I actually got to find out how amazing Rachel was, and if I were Chloe, I would've felt the same way.
Now that I'm watching this after episode 2 of Before the Storm, the truck Chloe is driving is the one she said she was going to fix to ditch Arcadia Bay with Rachel. The truck that would've made their dreams come true.
At 3:49 , we can see the pic with Rachel and Nathan on it. Why did Chloe think that it's Nathan's fault ?! this is obviously not him who's taking the photo ! They were both drugged !
I honestly blamed Nathan too. I thought the camera might be automatic and he set it to a timer and posed next to her after drugging her. I never thought there even was another person other than Nathan to blame...
He say he is sorry because he feel guilty for Rachel's death. If you are close or in love for someone and she/he die or has a serious accident in front of you, you are going to think this is your fault because you did nothing for help her/him (like for Kate's suicide). When Max put the Rachel's clothes, Nate looks at her with a really happy face and said "Rachel !". And Jeffershit is a fucking liar. When Max wakes up he said that Nate kills Chloe.
It's Nathan posing with Rachel and he might as well set a timer on his camera to pose with her. Jefferson had not a single photograph with boys, I don't think he would want Nathan in his picture, especially since Natahn besides being male doesn't represent what Jefferson wants to capture; innocence; and the shift from light to dark etc. - Nathan was beyond that already.
Every time something bad happens, it's there. I think its Rachel (sorry, I'm crying rn) Max never got to meet her. What if she already did. Though the doe. And surprising It's her Spirit animal.

After you woke up from passing out, if you walk around a bit, Max will think something, I can't remember exactly what. Follow it, you have the opportunity to take a photo of it but when the photo develops, the doe isn't there. When the doe first appears, you're stood around where Rachel is buried.
And once you discover Rachel's corpse, the camera pans out and you can see the doe in the foreground, fading away as Max and Chloe sob where Rachel's body is.
A year later and this still breaks me. From the music to the cinematography, to Chloe losing her mind when she realizes what’s happening. It’s so so good, I forgot how much I love this game.
Closely everyone has a spirit animal. We can clearly see that the Doe is Rachels Spirit animal! Max animal is the Butterfly and Chloes is the raven! Thats why the Doe is at the End of this Video, Rachel was watching them! The most players thought that the Doe is Max‘s Spirit animal but its Rachel, who is helping max with her Powers! Im sure Rachel had powers too.... Rachel is dead thats why the Doe is transparent all the time. But i might be wrong tho, because sometimes it looked like that the doe is max animal, cause of her Doe T-shirts, the raven rachels, because her Wind power she might have and the butterfly chloes cause it flight on her grave at her funeral... idk ^^" write your ideas under this! I don't really know why so many people believe that Rachel's spirit animal is the doe. We are clearly told by Samuel that Max's spirit animal is the doe. The doe is a spirit animal only seen by Max so it would definitely make sense for it to look transparent. Also the fading at the end of this scene can also be explained. The doe's purpose was to guide Max through this adventure and once the mystery was solved, the doe's job was done, thus fading away because it's no longer needed. There is also plenty of symbolism which supports the fact that Max's spirit animal is the doe. Also, the butterfly doesn't necessarily represent a spirit animal. It just symbolizes the chaos theory and butterfly effect. It firstly appears at the beginning of the game when Max receives her powers because the changes she could do with them would be able to have a devastating effect which in my opinion is clearly a reference to the butterfly effect.
It was confirmed by the creators that Rachel is the doe. The doe (Rachel) guided max and Chloe. When max and Chloe find Rachel’s body the doe disappears meaning that Rachel can finally Rest In Peace and get justice

This game’s universe is honestly one of the most sad I’ve ever encountered. Through and through you grow attached to these characters in LIS and LIS - BTS, and for Chloe and Rachel...they didn’t deserve what happened to them. I think after playing BTS, Rachel became my favorite character in the entire series. So her end is the most difficult to accept. Lying father, abandoned by a drug addicted mother, anger-prone, unsatisfied by anything she experiences in life. Those are not fitting traits/outcomes for a person like her

BTS was supposed to help reveal a different side to Chloe and tell Rachel’s story since she was mentioned so much in LIS. But release-wise, Life is Strange was released in 2015 while Before the Storm didn’t release until this year.

She’s lost her memories but a sinister vision sends her back in time to defend her old friends in her old home from the greatest threat Arcadia Bay and The Last City have ever seen. As she regains her memories her affinity with The Light increases as does her power. This alternate timeline leads into the events of The Witch Queen as well as brings a happy, bittersweet ending to Rachel, Chloe and Max’s tale as a trio. AmberPriceField fans as well as The Drifter fans will love this(hopefully lol) this is based on a Bay and Bae survive timeline. Chloe's life is full of pain and losses. I'm saying "IS" cause technically, in the world where she lives, in the game, she doomed to struggle with pain from her dad, Rachel and Max losses. Every damn time when each of us playing LIS and BTS. But Chloe with Rachel and with Max, they make us all better I believe. They made me better for sure, I felt alive again. And I think in some way they are our angels that sacrifice their happiness to make this world a better place. To be better and kinder, love and help - that what each of us can do to give meaning for what those poor girls go through each time of someone playing the LIS games.

I just pretend like LIS 1 didn't happen and after playing Farewell and Before The Storm in that order I just went on to reading The Road Not Taken. Probably the best continuation off of BTS so far. First the prologue of it (The Talk That Never Happened, then The Road Not Taken. All of these are on Archive You're Own.)
I finished the second episode of Before the Storm. Why on earth am I torturing myself watching this scene? This made the scene more relevant since playing Before the Storm. It's a work of art.

Guys, IT IS indeed a timeline with Rachel alive. Why? In BtS, you can find a photo with some students at Blackwell, and there is MAX. And that picture was made when she left Arcadia Bay. She fucked up time so much, I think she created some universe in which she never left and stays with Chloe. And if that is so, why it can't be one with Rachel alive? It's discutable, but time is something very... mysterious.

Phoenix actually Rachel took drugs way before Nathan was even a thought. She was with frank and had a “thing” or just a hookup which is still fucked up cuz Rachel never told Chloe. Chloe had to find out through max at the rv. But yeah they both use drugs so it was gonna happen sooner or later.

The deer at the end represents Rachel's spirit finally being able to rest knowing that her best friend at least had closure to her murder. And the ghost deer is seen by max a few times throughout the game. When max says " she feels like rachel is guiding them to the truth " she was 100% right. This game is a masterpiece, and before the storm made it even better.
The doe is Max's spirit animal. Samuel flat out states this.

Chloe has a depressing life, really. Once her father died, everything began falling apart. Max left for Seattle, and all her sadness and anger began building up from there. From David just being David, from her mother trying to coverup all traces of her father, to meeting the junkyard meltdown in Before the Storm. Then discovering Rachel's body, her angel. Her love. Then soon...giving up her life in order to save Arcadia Bay - the last piece of happiness other than Max she ever had. Instead of giving up the place where all of her sadness happened, she gives up herself in order to save the innocent lives that'll live on and have better lives instead of her.

Here's the thing: I don't think Rachel is gonna die during 'Before the Storm'. It's gonna end roughly a year before her disappearance. So the tension of whatever happens within BtS is perfectly intact. Only thing we know for sure is that certain characters (Chloe, Frank, Dana... basically everyone who appeared in Life is Strange) will most probably survive.
... that, or they will pull some "alternate timeline" plottwist, which would actually be GOOD for the tension.

after getting to know rachel's personality, her hopes and dreams, her relationship with chloe and her life, this is just sad...she was messed up but innocent as well. she had no idea what was coming to her and honestly the fact that this relates to people, makes it worse. i gotta say, telltale outdid themselves in all of their games, it just keeps getting better and better. ❤️❤️❤️

Before Life is strange: before the storm, I just thought that Chloe was really rude to Max JUST because she left, and cared ONLY for Rachel,
However, after Life is strange: before the storm, I actually got to find out how amazing Rachel was, and if I were Chloe, I would've felt the same way.
Now that I'm watching this after episode 2 of Before the Storm, the truck Chloe is driving is the one she said she was going to fix to ditch Arcadia Bay with Rachel. The truck that would've made their dreams come true.
At 3:49 , we can see the pic with Rachel and Nathan on it. Why did Chloe think that it's Nathan's fault ?! this is obviously not him who's taking the photo ! They were both drugged !
I honestly blamed Nathan too. I thought the camera might be automatic and he set it to a timer and posed next to her after drugging her. I never thought there even was another person other than Nathan to blame...
but it's a fact that Nathan overdosed Rachel and so she died. (i know it because i played the first game)

When Max put the Rachel's clothes, Nate looks at her with a really happy face and said "Rachel !". And Jeffershit is a fucking liar. When Max wakes up he said that Nate kills Chloe.
It's Nathan posing with Rachel and he might as well set a timer on his camera to pose with her. Jefferson had not a single photograph with boys, I don't think he would want Nathan in his picture, especially since Natahn besides being male doesn't represent what Jefferson wants to capture; innocence; and the shift from light to dark etc. - Nathan was beyond that already.

And once you discover Rachel's corpse, the camera pans out and you can see the doe in the foreground, fading away as Max and Chloe sob where Rachel's body is.

Closely everyone has a spirit animal. We can clearly see that the Doe is Rachels Spirit animal! Max animal is the Butterfly and Chloes is the raven! Thats why the Doe is at the End of this Video, Rachel was watching them! The most players thought that the Doe is Max‘s Spirit animal but its Rachel, who is helping max with her Powers! Im sure Rachel had powers too.... Rachel is dead thats why the Doe is transparent all the time. But i might be wrong tho, because sometimes it looked like that the doe is max animal, cause of her Doe T-shirts, the raven rachels, because her Wind power she might have and the butterfly chloes cause it flight on her grave at her funeral... idk ^^" write your ideas under this! I don't really know why so many people believe that Rachel's spirit animal is the doe. We are clearly told by Samuel that Max's spirit animal is the doe. The doe is a spirit animal only seen by Max so it would definitely make sense for it to look transparent. Also the fading at the end of this scene can also be explained. The doe's purpose was to guide Max through this adventure and once the mystery was solved, the doe's job was done, thus fading away because it's no longer needed. There is also plenty of symbolism which supports the fact that Max's spirit animal is the doe.
Also, the butterfly doesn't necessarily represent a spirit animal. It just symbolizes the chaos theory and butterfly effect. It firstly appears at the beginning of the game when Max receives her powers because the changes she could do with them would be able to have a devastating effect which in my opinion is clearly a reference to the butterfly effect.

It was confirmed by the creators that Rachel is the doe. The doe (Rachel) guided max and Chloe. When max and Chloe find Rachel’s body the doe disappears meaning that Rachel can finally Rest In Peace and get justice

This game’s universe is honestly one of the most sad I’ve ever encountered. Through and through you grow attached to these characters in LIS and LIS - BTS, and for Chloe and Rachel...they didn’t deserve what happened to them. I think after playing BTS, Rachel became my favorite character in the entire series. So her end is the most difficult to accept. Lying father, abandoned by a drug addicted mother, anger-prone, unsatisfied by anything she experiences in life. Those are not fitting traits/outcomes for a person like her

BTS was supposed to help reveal a different side to Chloe and tell Rachel’s story since she was mentioned so much in LIS. But release-wise, Life is Strange was released in 2015 while Before the Storm didn’t release until this year.

We plan on multiple story arcs and Characters from LiS and BtS in alternate timelines. A prologue with Rachel Amber(New Light), Jaren Ward and Dredgen Yor precedes as well as an adventure in Arcadia Bay 2013, where Rachel reunites with old friends and meets new ones. She’s lost her memories but a sinister vision sends her back in time to defend her old friends in her old home from the greatest threat Arcadia Bay and The Last City have ever seen. As she regains her memories her affinity with The Light increases as does her power. This alternate timeline leads into the events of The Witch Queen as well as brings a happy, bittersweet ending to Rachel, Chloe and Max’s tale as a trio. AmberPriceField fans as well as The Drifter fans will love this(hopefully lol) this is based on a Bay and Bae survive timeline. Chloe's life is full of pain and losses. I'm saying "IS" cause technically, in the world where she lives, in the game, she doomed to struggle with pain from her dad, Rachel and Max losses. Every damn time when each of us playing LIS and BTS. But Chloe with Rachel and with Max, they make us all better I believe. They made me better for sure, I felt alive again. And I think in some way they are our angels that sacrifice their happiness to make this world a better place. To be better and kinder, love and help - that what each of us can do to give meaning for what those poor girls go through each time of someone playing the LIS games.
When I first played LIS it was hard to watch Chloe suffer like that. Now I've played Before The Storm it makes it 10x fucking worse.

I think bts gives this not just more understanding and depth but a huge look at how regular everyday people just stop being there. Everyone around them suffers and then life keeps moving on for others. Rachel suffered a long and scary death and no one even knew but her and her killers for a long time
