Actually, Steve Shives is off by a week. Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977. Hulk Hogan (he wasn't called Hulk Hogan at the time) had his debut pro wrestling match on August 9, 1977. So Hogan only wrestled 1-3 times before Elvis died, and I highly doubt that Elvis even saw him wrestle one time.
Good catch! Yes, Hogan did technically wrestle his first match a few days before Elvis died. But, as you point out, Elvis certainly never saw any of Hogan's matches because it was at least a few months if not even longer before he ever wrestled outside of Florida, and Elvis was long dead by the time Hogan wrestled his first match in Memphis.
It's also worth mentioning that Hulk Hogan is a scab. He actively sabotaged other wrestlers from forming a union because he got paid more than everyone else combined.
"Hulk Hogan" is a fictional character not unlike Batman, Harry Potter, Donald Duck, Bozo the Clown, Deadpool, or Spongebob Squarepants. It's ok for children to like a character, but they need to be taught about the difference between fiction and reality. Terry Bollea, stage name Hulk Hogan, is probably best used as a teaching tool.

It didn't matter to him, that Ventura's proposal would've improved and even SAVED the lives of many wrestlers, what mattered to him was that this proposal could lead to less money going his way. @@Pangloss6413What's wrong with Richard Dawkins? He's one of the great minds of our generation. Perhaps you should have said you either die as Christopher Hitchens or you live long enough to become Peter Hitchens.
I have a friend who was a massive Hulk Hogan fan in his youth. We got talking and suggested he look up Hogan's lies online. As he read, you could see his childhood being ripped away. Dude was shattered.
I wasn't the biggest fan of his, but I respected him until the NWO days when he was clearly writing his own script. So when the stories started coming out early in the youtube days I wasn't too surprised, but still disappointed.
I remember a few years ago when it came out about Hulk Hogan's racist tirade regarding his daughter's partners. A friend of mine felt that people should cut him some slack--that Hogan's career shouldn't be ruined for a mistake. I told him that what he didn't understand is that people like me cheered for Hulk Hogan when we were kids. We believed that it was okay to be a Hogan fan; that he would like us to be Hulk Hogan fans. All the while he hated us.
It’s true. Terry (Hulk) sounds so much like the many older, ignorant, racist white men in my own family (with whom I avoid associating). They say the N word with a hard R. Since birth, I have been the “black sheep” or the “odd one” in my huge family. While they were listening to country and rock, I was absolutely obsessed with Michael, New Edition, Whitney, Janet, Prince, and later, Jodeci, R. Kelly, Dru Hill, After 7, Babyface, Toni Braxton, Aaliyah, Timbaland & Magoo, Missy Elliot, 2Pac, Biggie, Ludacris, 8Ball & MJG, SWV, Exscape, Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, Musiq Soulchild, Joe, Maxwell, and so many more R&B and Hip-Hop artists. I could not count how many times I have been told that if I ever dated a black man, no white man would ever want me. To which I would think, and later reply, “That’s fine, as I would not want any man who would not date me for having dated a black man. I don’t date or befriend racists assholes.” When I moved away at 20 and I happened to fall madly in love with a black man, I could not and would not bring him around my family and I could not even share how happily in love we were. We were together for years. His family, friends, and his all-black church- all of them embraced me and made me feel so loved and accepted as I am. The contrast between his family and our joy and not even feeling safe to tell anyone in my family about this amazing man and our years of love- it was heartbreaking and infuriating. I just never wanted to experience the drama and bullshit that would come from introducing my then boyfriend to my family. Moreover, I did not want to subject the man I loved to what would have been hatred, ugliness, and total blatant racist behavior from the racist assholes in my family. It’s mostly the white men. Men like this feel inferior to black men. They feel insecure. That’s a fact. Men like that should feel less than if that’s how ugly they are in their spirit. Hearing Hogan say that shit about his daughter dating a black man sounded like most of my uncles, male cousins, and others. It’s gross and so ugly. Sorry to write so much. I just felt compelled to respond to you and share my empathy and understanding of how it surely his true nature has hurt and offended so many black and brown fans from childhood days. Racism is still very much alive and well here in America. I’ll never understand. 💔
While I think what Hogan said was disgusting he said it on a leaked sex tape. Something that wasn't for the public. Now I'm not saying give him a pass but those were different circumstances than the crazy stuff he's saying now.
1987 in Pittsburgh I waited as a six year old kid for all the wrestlers to get off the plane and maybe get an autograph. Every wrestler stopped for us and signed our merch except for Hogan. Legit pushed my arm out of the way. Long story short I'm 43 now and I've hated that clown ever since and for the majority of my life
The had already started pre production on that. Had Chris Hemsworth cast to play him and everything. Then it got cancelled just after this latest episode.
There are many, many of us who were Hulkamaniacs as children who remember "take your vitamins, say your prayers and eat your vegetables" to this day and have been deeply disappointed with his heel turn
I never understood why my childhood best friend was so into Hulk Hogan, or into pro wrestling in general. Even back then it all looked fake and boring to me. It's funny, because I've been to a few lucha libre matches since then, which are every bit as fake, and it's been a blast! Maybe it's the genuine joy in it, lacking the kind of capitalised malice in big time, big money wrestling...
@@koraanjamar I don't even think Hollywood Hogan the character would say some of the shit that has come out of Hogan/Terry's mouth in the last 20 years or so.
Did you see the story about John Cena and the Ukranian family? The family had to flee Ukraine, and their teenage son, who has Down Syndrome, had trouble with the whole ordeal. His mom told him they were going to Sweden to meet John Cena. John Cena heard about this and went. To Sweden. Like a Boss.
Say what you want, but John Cena’s dedication to make a Wish children, is a huge reason he never turned heel (I am sure playing peacemaker was a real fun experience for him since peacemaker is an antihero at best)
so about 12 or 13 years ago i had a girlfriend who actually grew up in the same town as Cena, and apparently his mom was a bus driver, and my gf loved to tell me about what pieces of shit John and his whole family were. i initially took it at face value and just decided i hated Cena. but over the years, it became abundantly clear that the person she described was nothing like the man i saw being exceptionally charitable with his time and money. i have a lot of respect for him, more so than just about every other pro wrestler i've ever known about.
I just love that it completely fell flat. Like the audience was too young to get it or they weren't down with that particular flavor of racism anymore...
Don’t forget, he spent his career telling kids they could be like him if they just said their prayers and ate their vitamins… while abusing steroids the whole time.
Elvis used to watch the matches at the Mid-South Coliseum from the catacombs where no one else could see him. When he was younger he used to come to the Ellis Auditorium.
Exactly. People must be color blind too. Last I checked Trump ain’t white he’s…well I shouldn’t have to finish the joke. For those who get what I’m getting at. Not to mention we are all just different shades of brown. Look at the actual color white. NOBODY is that color! 🤣🤣🤣 Caucasian is the correct term. Let’s get it right racist people. 😊
... then quietly welcomed back once things blew over. Then inducted a second time, as a member of the nWo. It took them two decades to kick out Jimmy Snuka, and he "allegedly" murdered someone. Turns out ethics aren't a big thing in the McMahon household.
Not gunna lie we knew about Hulk. There have been backstage stories, rumors about a covere up in regards to his son accidentally causing his friend’s passing, the recording of him, and so on. 😂😂😂
He also ratted on Jesse Ventura when Ventura was trying to unionize. Hogan made all the money and wanted to keep it that way, screwing over all those fellow wrestlers he claimed to love so much.
It's sad to watch Hogan destroy his last shred of credibility knowing how much his old fan base really LOVES him. What's even sadder? All the superstars who are not here that didn't get a chance to shine as brightly as Hogan: Macho Man, Ultimate Warrior, Sid Vicious, Superfly Snuka, Roddy Piper, Rocky Johnson, Eddie Guerrero, Andre the Giant, Dusty Rhodes, Junkyard Dog, King Kong Bundy, Terry Funk, etc. These were my childhood champions!!! They either paved the way for Hogan or made him look good by 'losing' to him and shown the exit.
Warrior was just as bigoted. Snuka killed his own girlfriend. Rocky Johnson was up for rape. I'm a part of that fanbase-it's incredibly disappointing. Hogan chipped away at his own legacy, but killed it and Hulkamania. It's incredibly sad to see such a happy part of my childhood ruined.
In the filming of Rocky, Hogan didn’t hold back. The wrestler put three men in the hospital while filming his fight scene, and even left Stallone battered and bruised. “Truthfully, the hardest I was ever hit was actually by you, Hulk Hogan,” the actor admitted during a 2006 conversation with the wrestling icon. “We didn't put it in the movie because I was so traumatized.” I was an extra because I was a student at ELAC's theater department and they gave us all an invite to be the fight audience. What was supposed to be a couple of hours filming turned into an all day event because Hulk didn't know how to "act" and was just beating the crap out of everyone and it looked like he was just showing off trying to steal every scene. It was a total disaster and everyone left saying exactly the same thing, "That guy was a piece of shit!".
The worst part is, he actually does known how to work soft, he was stiffing those actors because he was trying to maintain kayfabe, the public deception that wresting is 'real', so rather than work safe he deliberately stiffarmed a bunch of actors and Stallone as well because he wasn't smart enough to seperate kayfabe from 'acting' because he was still settled into the idea of selling, to actors, that he was a legit tough guy. He hurt people deliberately despite the fact he knew how to work soft, because he wanted to keep pretending the world didn't know that pro-wrestling had scripted endings to matches.
@@josephpotter5766 ...worst part was that he was thrown out of the wrestling federation because McMahon (sp) didn't allow wrestlers into acting. He was also trying to convince the world they were real.
Hulk Hogan came to my high school and walked around the quad doing signatures and stuff in 1988. (El Modena HS, Orange, CA) He was serving community service time for not paying his child support. :P
🤨Child support, WTF?! Macho Man voice: "Oooooh Yeeeaaahhhh, the Judge came down from the top of the clouds and sentenced Hogan with the all-powerful Hammer of Justice. The little children are our future, case closed!"
When I was in high school I learned how horrible and sneaky Hulk Hogan was behind the scenes so I made it clear I did not want his name mentioned to me but they did anyway. 25 years later I feel vindicated. Especially since the majority of those who said his name to me didn’t even watch wrestling.
Some years back, my (now-departed) court reporter sister was hired for Hulk's deposition, an all-day event. She then spent most of her evening to me on the phone about how vile, creepy, uncouth and disgusting he was and how awful it was to have to be near him for a whole day.
In a recent interview, former contemporary wrestler and former Governor of Minnesota, Jesse Ventura, said he extremely disliked Hogan as a backstabber, a liar and a snitch. Apparently, the rest of the wrestling community didn't like that dude either. Hogan is as phony as they come.
I will confess that I used to be a fan of Hulk Hogan for many years and about 20 years ago in Florida where I live, I was with my ex-girlfriend shopping at Publix and as we made our way to the checkout section, we see Hulk Hogan with his wife. When our eyes locked, we smiled at him and he smiled back at us. Then someone approached him for an autograph and he signed it. At that moment, there was this black teenager in front of us who was about to pay the cashier for his stuff but he got so star stricken that he left it by the cashier, pulled out his camera and rushed over to meet him. With that, we took advantage of the situation and began to give the cashier the products for her to charge us and left. Based on that encounter, I found him to be very pleasant, quiet, and humble, quite the opposite of his public persona. A few years later I learned of the truth of him as a person and felt very disappointed. Then again, this is not the first time I've experienced meeting someone I used to admire, only to be let down. Just goes to show you, never meet your heroes, it's healthier that way! 😉

As a white woman, I'm sorry. For what it's worth, Hogan is being held accountable through all this exposure. I doubt he'll be paraded again in front of a WWE audience anytime soon. Wrestling fans are now considered among the most left-leaning sports fans. There's no way they'd be stupid enough to risk the backlash.
Having to tell people Hogan was always garbage is like having to tell people Rudy Giuliani was always garbage. You’re always going to find someone who has absolutely never even considered the possibility before and suddenly it hits them that the only way it makes sense for them to be such trash now is that it’s not new.
Yup. In Rudy's case, it's opportunism. He simply would go where the political wind blew (if the wind blew Progressive, he would be Progressive. If it was Centrist, he would be Centrist. Right-Wing and he would go Right). He also knew how to hide his evil better, back in the day and didn't look like a goblin. Just before 9/11 happened, there was a big "Cops killing an unarmed black man" case brewing and it was connected to Giuliani's "Stop & Frisk" antics and promotion of racist policing. We could have had "Black Lives Matter" and pushes for police reform earlier had it not been for Bin Laden and kooky band of terrorist nuts.
The cops do it all the time. In fact I recall hearing an officer saying 'I body slammed her' speaking to his seargeant about the innocent 17 year old that resisted because she was scared.
According to Jesse Ventura, Hogan is also a union buster. When Jesse Ventura told Hogan about trying to unionize the WWF, Hogan went behind Jesse Ventura's back and ratted him out to Vince McMahon. I love that closing statement! It's couldn't be more fitting!
It's not according to Jessie Ventura, it's a matter of public record because he tried to say Jessie was the hookup for steroids in the WWF so he was one of the interested parties whose lawyer was involved in the Deposition of Vince McMahon, who was asked by Ventura's Lawyer "Who told you about my client's unionization efforts?" To which Vince replied *under oath* "It was Terry Bollea."
I'm so glad Terry and Vince are gone. Both make my skin crawl. I may have liked Hulk the character and young early Vince The Announcer Guy character (but 'Mr. McMahon' the evil character is basically real-life Vince and is barf) but the guys behind them are garbage.
Notice how the crow where all into it, and then he started with all the stuff about Kamala and you could hear the 'what?' in the crowd, every response was far less enthusiastic.

I bet most of that audience were mad about Imane Khelif bing in a boxing ring with another woman based on the false claim that she was partially male. And here they are screaming approval for the concept of a professional male wrestler using violence against a female politician.
No one is “screaming approval” for the concept of Hulk ACTUALLY body-slamming Harris. It was a poor attempt at humour. But that’s what it was, a joke. Do you really believe Hogan was insinuating he would actually go body-slam her? Like come on use your brain

Music about a sinking ship. Yeah, it fits the event well. And someone did notice, and she is very upset that they played her music. Very upset. And the fact they played music by a Canadian artist at an "All American" rally doesn't surprise me one bit, since they all showed up wearing their Chinese MAGA hats.
As a wrestling fan myself I’ve found that a lot of us lean left. Especially the IWC. Cornette, Foley, Bryan Danielson, etc are very outspoken about their left leaning views
I heard a story about Hulk vs Andre the Giant. Hulk missed his mark and actually forearm smashed Andre across the face. Andre whispered to Hulk "that hurt, don't do that" Andre than picks up Hulk and was supposed to strech him. Well Andre actually pulled enough to put tension on Hulk and whispered again something don't make me angry and just tugged enough to show Hulk he could be a chicken wing
I can imagine that, Ventura has gone on record saying that until the day he was told/got to know who ratted him out and his attempts to form a Union, he considered Hogan one of his friends. The only one who was more hilarious to hear spew poison at Hogan then Ventura was the Iron Sheik, one of my favorite tweets of Shikie's was "HULK HOGAN I LOVE YOU BUBBA. It was great recently seeing Ventura lay into Vance's attacks on Walz and just *absolutely go off on one* about the Iraq war, as well as getting into the RNC stunt and going into shit Hogan pulled when some of them tried to unionise back in the day, this is the kind of storyline for a grudge match that's right at home in that scene.

This also happened to a cousin of mine. Unfortunately, that was the same reaction to a lot of older fans. Very sad.
Hogan is the guy who ratted his fellow wrestlers out when they wanted to unionize. Hogan did this because wanted to get paid more than all of them.
Jesse Ventura tells that story, he found out in a deposition years later.
@samgonzalez1687 Hogan has done nothing but screw people over for his own selfish reasons.
Thanks to him saying that, the biopic he was doing with Chris Hemsworth, just got cancelled...
I hope he has lost a fortune because of what he said Kamala, that's the only thing he will understand
I don’t date or befriend racists assholes.”
When I moved away at 20 and I happened to fall madly in love with a black man, I could not and would not bring him around my family and I could not even share how happily in love we were.

Crazy story! Dude sounds like Steven Seagal. What a dick.

@@jaysuschristmas4909 in wrestling their was something called receipts a wrestler would stiff you in the ring as payback these are tough guys I'm sure fights happened but outside of wrestling Andre was a good guy
@mikemadsen7926 since when is diarrhea a receipt??
@mikemadsen7926 also, since you are such an expert on wrestling, I'm sure you know that Andre was famous for "checking the oil" on other wrestlers. Is this the trait of a nice guy?
-Partied with John Beluchshi after Mania 2 in 86. John passed in 82. That one, wow, just wow.
Well if he actually did when he said he did, then it’s no wonder he partied John under the table since John was a four year old corpse lol
And if he thought it was with Ozzie, no way he could do that with Ozzie lol
Thank you for your honesty and sanity.
Never ever drank the Hulk Hogan Kool-Aid.
I was never a huge fan of his but even as a small child in the late 80s, I knew he was an icon. I just never realized until 2023 that he’s a tool and a total FRAUD and bald face liar who lies about asinine things.
I've listened to a few interviews with Jesse Ventura where he's praised Tim Walz, addressing aTim's National Guard service and governor ship (Tim met Jesse to ask for advice, and made sure to have Jesse in his office as the signed the bill legalizing MJ), and in one interview Jesse absolutely rips into Bolea, having absolute disdain for the man. It was beautiful.
It’s sad but that’s why they say don’t worship celebrities. They just regular people like us,but with money and fame.
Trump can't get an endorsement from a wrestler who's worked in the last twenty years.
Cuz they've all met him 😂
does Vince count as a wrestler
they have money...theyll be fine when prices rise yet again
Yep…. So his best choices are raciest wrestlers
Technically hulk hogan has "wrestled" in the last 20 years. He shouldn't've... But he did.
I’ve been a Hulkamaniac since 1987. As much as I love the performer he was, it’s heartbreaking to see what the need to be relevant and ‘fame’ will do to people.
It appears he was always a bit of a twat. These days he doesn't have the PR clout to hide it.
I don't know what you're talking about. Hulk Hogan has been using the "What?" callback since 1934.
He’s a narcissist. No wonder he loves Trump.
But has Hogan ever snapped into a Slim Jim?
😢No😂
Brother!!
No
He had no respect for macho man
that reminds me the Macho Man diss track on hogan exists. Thanks, might pause this and listen then come back and finish this vid
Undertaker and Randy Savage are my favorites.
Didn't Peter Thiel bankroll hulk Hogan to sue an online media news site in order to put it out of business?
Gawker
I was a teacher back in the late 1980's. I became very fluent in WWF.
It breaks my heart that all those little Hulk-a-maniacs that absolutely idolized Hulk Hogan had to hear that The Hulk only cares about his very white fans. 😞
What's worse is guys like Mr t zues junkyard dog and Dennis Rodman played a major part in hogan's success
he doesn't even care about them, only the green dollar bills in their wallets.
That "All-American" rally was playing music by a Canadian artist, and somehow I have no doubt that NO ONE NOTICED.
They probably don't even know Rush is a band.
As long as it's 80's music. Cause that's the time period they're all stuck in.
"F the Hulk Hogan and F the Tuesday."
-The Iron Sheik (R.I.P)
My favorite Hogan moment is him getting humiliated by Shawn Michaels.
Yes LAMO that was Comedy GOLD
Kevin Nash and Jesse Ventura have endorsed Harris.
Jesse did not speak very fondly of his relationship with Hulk.
YOU ARE THE REAL NOT A JABRONI. " and then Twitter (back before it got sank) has added "ⓘ 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴" to the tweet :)
I’m a 42-year-old black man that has been a fan of wrestling since 1988 and we’ve all always known this has been Hogan. As conservative as I am, I could never be a Republican or labeled conservative because for every cool white person I will meet I know there’s gonna be an Hulk Hogan in the group. I now have a 13-year-old son and we watch wrestling every Friday because you can’t let one Butthead ruin it for everybody.
The Hulk visited me in the hospital when I was a kid. Met him later, as an adult and I was shocked lol he's mental
Ted Nugent, Rosamne Barr, Kid Rock, Hulk Hogan, Katlyn Jenner, Scott Baio, Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil...., 😂😅😆🤣 need I say more?
All of them are disappointments, but Dr. Phil was quite surprising.
Linda McMahon.
You forgot James Woods, Randy Quaid and Kevin Sorbo.
And Eric Carmen. That one actually made me sad😢
"No shit" was my immediate reaction to the video title 😂.
Someone like steve, who is in the know on this subject, educating us all on the underlying facts, is pure gold. Hulk is, in the end, just another capitalist grifter, mining the loyalty of those who admire him, for personal gain. I AM NOW SUBSCRIBED! And thank you for the clarity on Gus Walz! I'm digging your content and digging your truth! Rock on!
Back in the late 80's my step sister and a bunch of her friends were at Clearwater Beach and Hogan invited them to his house to party, they were all 14-15 years old. They went and he refused to let them leave! They scaled the pool area walls and finally got out but he was pissed! He's a PDF file for real; so is bubba the love sponge.
It's wild that Rockstars etc having 15 yr old groupies was considered normal back then elvis got away with it for years. You hold information about hulk I don't think anyone knows this about him
@@mikemadsen7926 me and my sister always just figured this was probably lost in a sea of other incidents like this about him lol
The event in Ohio was just down the road from my work (I didn't go) and hundreds were denied meeting him because it wasn't announced you had to pre register for the meet and greet
I was a little Hulkamaniac too. The Hulkster disappointed all of us in so many ways. Once upon a time he was Captain America. Now he's Homelander.
Great way of thinking about it!!
So true 👍
