For 10 years I worked on Kawasaki commercials and ad campaigns in the USA. I got to visit the museum two years ago. My friend and I road there on the 2018 Ninja 1000. That week we went over 1600 miles around the country. This museum is a must for enthusiasts! FYI you’d make a fantastic voiceover artist for their streetbike commercials. I would have hired you. It was always tough to get someone right for the job.
Kawasaki history? My wits perked up when I saw this video title. I was a tech and service manager for Kawasaki bikes from 1967 - 1980. I motocrossed an F2-1M in '67, one of the first on the East coast, U.S. A. Like you, I recall the original Z1 as a favorite. A gentleman motorcycle with comfort and great punch from the powerplant when one asked for it. Hope you show more of the older models eventually like the F1 175cc - very solid little bike in it's day, and the A1 and A1R 250cc models.
@@PetervonGommJAPAN For the most part, yes, especially when the four cycle units began to sell. There were some times with the first KZ400s when they came out - oil leaks up the cylinder head studs from some casting and machining in the cases. By 1978, problems were dealt with in order and new models were solid and trustworthy. I'd like to find a '78 to use myself these days. Those were exciting times but a few clunkers mixed in. I personally didn't care for the graphic trim on some of the models from 1970 through '73. The Z1 was a cut above all the others in finish.
I've only been on a bike once in my life. Didn't want the long hike up to Besakih Temple in Bali so hopped on the back of a bike. Held on for dear life--never again ! I can appreciate your need for speed though. Love your 360° vids.
1975 Kawasaki F11 250 was my first bike... in 2009... Still ran like a champ and never left me stranded and i rode the hell out of it. Never had a bike i liked as much as that. I'd love an H3 or any of those old multi cylinder 2 strokes. Still waiting for a new 2 stroke twin from Kawasaki. It would be such a beast with todays 2 stroke tech.
I am still riding my old but pristine Kawasaki Blue 2001 Concours with the ZG 1000 4 cylinder, 4 28 mm carbs, drive shaft, fully adjustable air ride suspension, and no radio, no frills, motor music and lots of care free fun. As long as you give it a little love it will pay you back 100 fold. And the bike still looks like it is not out dated today. I just put new Michelins on it and I would not be scared to go anywhere in the entire country or anywhere north. I think I will stay out of Mexico. And hell I am going to turn 68 y/o soon. It's just a number man.
peter thanks for visiting the kobe kawi musium and for producing the greatest vlog ever! i was in shinjuku last week and saw a harley sportster on cat street. so wierd to hear a harley in tokyo. i still have my 83' gpz1100.

I wish I still owned them , Thanks again.
I had a red Z1300 6 cylinder. Way cool bike, shame it wasn't shown in the vid. I also had a GPZ1100 and a ZZR250 and a ZZR600 and a ZZR1100 - my favourite but traded it in for a GTR1000 sports/tourer - I knew I'd lose my licence one day if I kept the ZZR1100! 😈 Bought all of them brand new and loved every one.
Saving the 901 for last is absolutely right- I raced motocross when this bad boy came out. My friend Reno let me ride his and the absolute power of that thing (in the day) was breathtaking. Literally pulled off the road to think a bit about what just happened. Question: how could you not show a Mach 3? I had a blue and silver '71 in high school. Incredible machine. Great vid!

There was missing the Kawasaki Gpz 750 turbo 1984-85, I don't know if they show it in the museum or not, but I know they were taken out of the market for the deaths it caused. My friend currently has one with 26,000 miles approx. greetings from Bolivia

Around 1970 it must have been nuts at Kawasaki. Beaten to the 750 4-stroke post by Honda, they took a tactical retreat to build the Z900 - that took two and half more years - and in the meantime they had the W1 650 based on the old BSA, that they had to keep going to fill the 4-stroke market, so the W2, and W3 and SS came out. Luckily, British bikes were going nowhere fast at the same time. And then the 2-stroke madness, 500cc and then 750cc. 74 horsepower - that is more than the Honda! Amazing.
Keeping in line with naming the H1 500 'Mach III' for its cylinder count, the H2 was known as Mach III 750 in Japan. In the US they named the H2 'Mach IV' so not to be confused with the 500. The cab driver was probably remembering his 750 as a Mach III correctly. Here's proof of the name th-cam.com/video/kBkx2U2q5gU/w-d-xo.html

By the way, Cycle World had a recent story on their website about the Honda museum. In one of the photos, an original Kawasaki Z-1 is seen in their collection, paying tribute to a fearsome competitor. Imagine that!
Wow I didn't know there is Kawasaki Museum in KOBE! I want go there! I have been in Kobe BUT I didn't know all that it is place of Kawasaki industry. I like how 70's Kawasakis looked. Like that 750 IV. And I have owned Kawasaki. I understand why that Kawasaki 900 is your favorite. IT IS beatiful (and I guess quite powerful for that time). Was that close to Kobe harbor? (well I can Google it :D ) If I ever go back Kobe I want to there. My other dream is to drive motorcycle in Japan along beatifyl coast roads. Thanks for this video!
Love your content! And I have to say, your moto vlogs really lit a fire under my butt and gave me the inspiration I needed to go out and try for my M1 license. Kawasaki Made In Japan 🇯🇵 The Best 👍🙏
ZL series in the museum?
Yes its right on the port!
So close, so far!
Great video, I love older japanese bikes.
Is there a similar museum for Honda ones?
Search for "Honda Collection Hall Motorcycle" but it is in Japanese if you're fine with that.
Love your content! And I have to say, your moto vlogs really lit a fire under my butt and gave me the inspiration I needed to go out and try for my M1 license. Took the MSF course last week and just passed the DMV knowledge test today, so I'm fully licensed! As you say, ride safe and I'll do the same.
AWESOME to hear my friend!! Indeed ride safe! :0) What are you gonna ride?
@@PetervonGommJAPAN Starting out nice and easy with a Honda Rebel (took the MSF course on a 250 and fell in love with it), but after I get some experience, I'd like to move up to a Triumph Bonneville.
Do they still offer Kawasaki Soda? I wish I would have kept a few cans. My first 3 bikes were Kawasaki. 1974 100 cc then a 74 350 cc. I loved that 350 and then my 1999 Vulcan 1500.
I would love to tour the museum.
