He’s done an interview where he says that if 1D didn’t stop that it would’ve killed him. I definitely think he really felt the “now I’m free” lyric. He’s even mentioned before that he was always having to be the sensible one to the point that it would cause issues bc when the others were acting crazy, people were telling him to ring them in and that’s not ideal for any teen or friendship.
When he says " I'm not changing, the way, that I (Used to be) I just wanna have fun and (Get rowdy)" It was about him wanting to finally be a teenager. He never got to be the teen he should have been while growing up and had to grow up fast. He also mentioned even during 1D that he had to play the role where he had to be the "mature and boring" one. Though he was the most responsible he was still given the weight of the group especially when simon used to call him up to handle the problems whenever the other boys did someting or anything happened regarding the band. He felt hurt whenever he would get the least screams during performances because his role didn't appeal to the majority of the teenagers.
They went through some stuff while the were in 1D. Liam opened up about his suicidal thoughts & drinking before every show to get his mind of the problems in an interview. There's to videos called "the dark side of one direction" & "One direction mistreated?Liam Payne exposes..." that explained it better. The first one is better to check out.
I think Liam’s voice suits just about any genre. As for this song... I had to hear it a couple of times before I liked it. I love Liam’s soothing soft vocals the most and tbh Quavo didn’t do it for me. That said I love the song now whenever I hear it and I think this song is the one song of any of the 1D lads I’ve heard get the most radio play in my country, along with Liam’s other song Midnight that is. A collaboration song with Alesso, a Swedish DJ/producer.
"Pop leaning to R&B or Dream boat crooner and good at both things" - that's the best description of Liam's current discography tbh, he literally does both of those things :) I don't love this song but I don't mind it. Ed Sheeran can do no wrong in my eyes, even if the lyrics don't speak to me, plus Liam made a great show every time he performed it, so it's a great entertainment radio ready dance song, way better than a lot of others in this lane imo. And this is one of his most successful singles so it's definitely worth starting with it. Thank you for this reaction!
He's not shading 1D..he's just saying he usedto be in 1D.. This is his 1st ever solo song so it makes sense.. I love this song sm..it's such a catchy vibe 😍
Liam is the biggest 1D fan and has proven it several times in recent years. He gives us fans the most 1D content of all the guys and still sings some 1D songs at concerts to please us. Just like the other boys. He may not be the most successful in the eyes of many people, but he definitely has a beautiful voice, he loves his fans and we love him not only for his kind heart. He will always be my favorite even it´s almost impossible to choose just one of them.
I love that you wanted to react to his first song at first but you'll like some of his other songs better like for example midnight and omg his live performances are sooo good !! I love you reactions btw!
I think it's interesting you got so many emails about Liam. None of his songs are bad, they're all catchy and have a groove but I think people were hoping for something more personal. The things is the other boys all released very personal albums bot really chasing radio or trends. you could tell they really wanted to stretch their creative wings and express what they couldn't while in the band. So everyone kind of expected the same from Liam especially considering that a lot happened to him in between the band ending and his solo music. He really had a wealth of experience to draw from but I don't think he wrote any of the songs on his album and there wasn't really a Liam stamp on anything. I think Liam is a very practical person and I think the approach he went for was to kind of establish himself commercially first. He's not really a risk taker and I think he was just going after what's tried and true. Unfortunately it alienated some fans, it probably would have worked much better in another era but nowadays there's a lot of expectation for singers to write what they sing and to get personal with their music. Anyways I still feel the songs are pretty good. I'm a dissapointed that he didn't lean into the jazzy Michael Bublé thing cause his voice sound really good in that genre. I'm still looking forward to more from him and I'm curious about his next move
All of that makes a lot of sense. I was surprised too. About the messages. As soon as I said I was going to do all their first singles I started getting messages about these first songs. I got a few giving me a heads up about Louis' first single not being in a genre that he stuck with but the majority were about this song. Like it was a sensitive subject and a lot just wanted me to skip it. I don't know why. It's not like it's a horrible song. I get that it's not breaking any new ground but not every song can be like that. Some songs just make you want to shake your booty and that's valid too. lol They shouldn't have been so worried.
He has jumped into many genres espeically with his covers since before 1D, 😂 but his favourites were hiphop and rnb as of 2020. The Weekend is his son's favourite singer!! It's so cutee!!
Hey! I love your reactions. Could you maybe check out some Hindi or Bollywood songs? The music we have in India is great and I think you would like it. Especially Arijit Singh. He is one of the best Indian singers.
@@80sladyreactions33 Yeah. Maybe you could start with "Arijit Singh Gima Live performance of 2017" it's a medley of many of his songs. Otherwise, It's up to you really. Thanks for taking my request into consideration.
I was honestly surprised and kinda disappointed when I first heard this one. I thought the song was too empty lyrically, even if it has a good beat. I was used to him and Louis co-writing great songs with deep lyrics for the band, which raised my expectations. And I’m someone who focuses more on the lyrics than the beat, so that’s the first thing I noticed once I listened to it. Though after this song came out he did an interview and said that back in the band, he was the melody man while Louis took care of the lyrics, which made sense. I think he’s getting more involved in writing his songs nowadays, thankfully, so I can’t wait to see what comes out of him. I’m not the biggest Liam fan since his music isn’t my cup of tea, but I give him a chance and listen to whatever he releases. Can’t wait for more reactions from you!!

Oh also listen to bedroom floor the highlights his high vocal
You should do Sunshine. It’s his most recent single and it was for the movie Rob Gone Wrong.

I really like this song it's very catchy.
12:53 you smiled when Liam smiled.. That's cute 😍

Thank you!! I will always love a good live.
i see liam’s voice as really versatile. i think he could do some rock or punk too after hearing his voice in some of the later song he did w 1d
I think so too but I don't see him actually doing it. It doesn't seem like his thing.
@@80sladyreactions33 You should react to his cover of Bodies ❤❤
listen to midnight by Liam Payne, it's different from this song and it's a really good song
For sure the live version of this is so much better
Especially when Liam dances, he has very sexy moves.:-)

Can you react to before it ends by Liam as well? His vocals are heavenly in that and its sooo underrated!

React to one direction singing Zayn solo's
One direction friendship moments
I didn’t like Quavos part though like when he does it live it’s better
I got that a lot in comments when I said I was going to watch all their first videos. I'm looking forward to watching a live of this.
