I just came back from a year long exchange in the us a few weeks ago, and watching your video makes me feel so nostalgic because I can still remember the excitement and apprehension I had before I left, and I can see you feel like that too, that's really nice. I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time over there! And be prepared for this experience to pretty much change your life :)
If you feel uncomfortable vlogging in public, Zoe, then you can always film lots of small, casual clips of just the places you see and/or the people you're doing a trip or activity w or whatever and then add a little post commentary afterwards when you're back in your room. ALSO KEEP A JOURNAL SERIOUSLY! Or at least some sort of travel blog. It's the best advice I got before going abroad. Even though it can take a chunk of time to write everything down (writing during bus/train/plane journies worked best for me, though that is also the best time for pleasure reading as you mentioned) it's so, so worth it in the end! Also my roommate who studied in Canterbury last semester says a trench coat and rainboots and a good umbrella are a must.
I give you props Zoe for going away for a whole year. I'm going to be a junior in college this year and I don't know if I'd be able to do what you're doing. Have fun!!!!

I studied abroad in London, in an intensive program that sounds similar to yours (through Boston University). It was by far the best experience of my life, and I wish I had been able to stay for two semesters! Have fun and make memories!!
Study abroad is wonderful! I did a trip to Mexico last semester, it was so much fun and so cool to see how other people live! You're right, your world view changes so much! HAVE SO MUCH FUN!!! :)
Wow, our study abroad programs are really similar! Well, except in length. I'm only staying in London until December. But yay studying abroad! I'm getting on my plane tomorrow morning and I CAN'T WAIT. I hope we both have good experiences.

Have a great time! I just did a similar program as you. It was an American University rather than an exchange (but it was with the university I go to, so I already knew a lot of people), but it was in Austria instead of England (so there was a bit of a language barrier when I traveled outside of the school). I had such a great experience, and I learned so much about myself and the culture of Europe. I definitely didn't get to read as much, and although I was a little worried about that initially, I had such a great time exploring that it didn't even matter!

I studied abroad in London Spring 2014. It was absolutely incredible. One of my top tips would be to travel outside of London. Train tickets are fairly cheap in the UK especially for students. My second tip would be to take advantage of student tickets for west end and smaller theatre shows. You have to queue up a few hours before the box office opens but I was able to get front row 10 pound tickets to west end shows. Its also a great way to meet Londoners. It was awesome and London has so many great shows and theatres big and small. i think I saw about 25 shows throughout my entire semester. Also make sure you check out the book market under Waterloo Bridge in Southbank!

ooooh how exciting! other things that you should totally do whilst in england - on the subject of food: try a sunday lunch at a pub (yorkshire puddings are a must, they are the best!) also nandos, just try a nandos. i assume you'll be going here anyway but would also definitely fit in a trip to the harry potter studio tour, it's only about a 20 minute train ride from london and it is AMAZING. you can literally stand in the great hall *____* other things i would strongly recommend - go to a west end show (wicked and matilda are especially great) and pay a visit to st paul's cathedral on a sunny day - sit on the steps and watch all the people, it's so great! (this is a bit rambley sorry! but yeah, have a great time!)

Oh wow, it's basically a product which is made up of pork blood and some other things and usually comes in a sausage type shape. If you search it on google you can see some really nasty pictures of just how disgusting it looks. Maybe I'm missing out and it tastes delicious, but I just can't bring myself to try it. You can have it on an English Breakfast, or it also goes quite well with Pork I believe.
Faithfully Moonstruck it is the grossest thing ever...i used to eat it as a kid but then all of a sudden I really went off it...but i know whats in it now...and I would never eat it again. (its basically curdled blood and fat....)

Hopefully you are! & it´s so cool that you got to fulfil one of your dreams- i want to do a master´s degree in film studies or creative industries in either edinburgh or australia. But it is also really cool that you are so into english lit! if i could´ve done that i would have gone to oxford!
I hope you have good humour to stand the tube.....good luck. On the good side, you can easily jump to Europe (mainland). I highly recomend Florence, San Sebastian, Porto, Budapest and Seville. Best wishes!!
