Moe's original script called for The Washington Post March to trigger Curly. Fortunately it was changed to Pop Goes the Weasel, it was a lot funnier!! 🤣

I loved when they cut to the little boy and the guy ringing the bell. They had their own little battle goin on.

This was filmed in black & white. It was colorized by computer many years later. It’s funny that you observed that Moe has good aim. Moe was very good at throwing pies. Whenever you see somebody other than Moe getting hit by a pie, it was Moe offscreen throwing the pie. Yes, Larry really played the violin. Curly could play several instruments like the string bass but his favorite thing was to play the spoons.

Larry played violin, Curly played String Bass and Saxaphone and Mo played accordian and mandelin, Shemp also played accordian....all very talented musically.☝😆

Larry fine was in fact a violinist, by accident really. Story goes that when he was a young boy he almost drank a glass of acid thinking it was water or soda or whatever and had burned his arm and disfigured it when his father was stopping him from drinking the corrosive liquid.
He then was put into physical therapy and told that he could strengthen his badly burnt arm by practicing the violin. From that point on to his stooge days he would get used to playing the violin until he started having strokes and confined to a wheelchair

Larry was legitimately playing the fiddle. He was an accomplished violinist.

He was also a pretty fair boxer and could probably whup Moe's butt with one hand tied behind his back.

Not only did I enjoy it but thanks for the facts especially preserved in the National Film Registry. Since I grew up watching them in b&w I enjoy the color. There's a similar short about wrestling. Grips, Grunts, And Groans. Perfume "Wild Hyacinth" like "Pop Goes the Weasel".

Larry was actually a boxer before his comedy days.
Fun fact- At one point during the fight, a member of the audience flips the middle finger.

How about that perfume, "Wild Hyacinth"...It drove him crazy, and the only way to calm Curly down was to tickle his feet. They got tangled up with the wrestler, Bustoff who took a liking to The Stooges, but had trouble with alcohol and passed out before a big wrassling match. Curly sat in for him...

The very first Stooges shorts are great fun because the act was still so rough around the edges; here, Dorothy Granger is cast as an obvious draw and kept onscreen in her own little sub-feature long after she ceases being relevant to the Stooges' antics. And that's great, because her scenes plus the battle of wills between the gumball kid and the childish timekeeper provide a little pleasant contrast to the endless slapping and smacking. The Oscar-nominated _Men in Black_ (the short that followed this) is probably my all-time favorite with its slew of inexplicably bizarre walk-on characters, while _Woman Haters_ (which preceded) is hilarious _and_ fascinatingly weird because all the dialog is delivered in song or rhyme.

Not sure if you knew this but Marion Byron was also in the silent film Steamboat Bill Jr. with Buster Keaton, and it was this silent film that Walt Disney got the idea for Steamboat Willie from. Very good silent film, Buster performed all his own stunts. 0:35

As someone said before, Larry played violin due to an injury he suffered when he was a kid. His dad owned a watch repair and jewelry shop. One of Larry’s forearms was accidentally burned by acid that his father used to test jewelry for gold content. Larry thought the acid was a drink. Larry raised the bottle of acid to his lips and his father knocked the acid bottle out of his hand before he could drink it, the acid splashed Larry’s arm and caused extensive damage to it. His parents gave Larry violin lessons to help strengthen the arm that got burned by acid.

I thought you'd like that one. 😁 That was awesome to see it in color, but I agree and prefer B&W too. Larry was definitely a violin player, and got a real workout in this one. In his youth he had an injury to his arm and a doctor advised therapy, like learning to play a violin. The guys got hurt fairly often doing the stunts and slap-stick. There's one episode where Moe actually breaks a rib or two falling, but like the awesome professional he was he acted like it didn't hurt and finished the scene, and the episode with busted ribs! It's called, "Pardon My Scotch" (1935). Don't want to spoil it and tell you when it happens, but it'll be obvious I think! Oh BTW, I love that NASA shirt! I've got a couple too. ✌️😎

    @
INIKA HOLIDAY CHUNG...I enjoy your reactions to the 3 Stooges especially as most females do not seem to like the Stooges. You also have a wonderful smile and a very honest natural quality in your reaction videos. I have a suggestion which I think you would do very well with...I have not seen anyone yet reacting to to 50's and 60's novelty songs which you should find amusing and which can be found on TH-cam. Some of my faves include Monster Mash, Short Shorts, Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, The Haunted House, Martian Hop (by the Ran-Dells), The Purple People Eater, Witch Doctor, Say Man (by Bo Diddley), Rip Van Winkle (by the Devotions) and Kookie, Kookie (Lend Me Your Comb). I hope you can react to some or all of these soon...I am sure you will smile!

Enjoying your reactions, but have to suggest that you not read a synopsis of the flicks you’re going to watch, prior to watching. (I bet you’ll enjoy them much better, being “surprised” by what’s to come.😉) 😁

The 3 Stooges were a risque comedy team back then. Some of the stuff they wanted to do was banned even back then. A lot of the stuff included scantily clad women, lots of sexy women oriented stuff mixed with the slapstick comedy. Also in real life Curly was a womanizer, he was married a few times but cheated a lot. Check out the 3S documentary. The 3S is indeed my favorite comedy team because they pushed the envelope and always played the down and out scammers trying to get by in life.

This must be an earlier episode. The slaps and other sound effects are lacking. The comedy is there, but it's way off from what i'm used to. Still funny af though. Thought I already did, but now SUBBED to you Canada. Hi from below your border 🙂

@INIKA HOLIDAY CHUNG...Further to my earlier comment about novelty songs, I recently discovered another one which I have linked below and which I also invite you to react to. It is by Katie Sweet called I Love to Rock and the novelty is that the singer is just 3 years old!! She went on to appear in a couple of movies and several TV shows as a young girl and a teenager and then retired and I think became a real estate agent. This song is IMHO the definition of CUTE and I hope once again it makes you smile. It kind of sounds rockabilly.
