The camelot wheel does not always work correctly, you need to try to mix by ear, make transitions to your taste, listen to the result, it all depends on your personal taste!
thats what ive been doing learning to mix by ear as you dont always need to use the camelot wheel same with virtual dj 2021 i use numark party mix with mine
I just stumbled accross this video and learned so much at one time i have to thank you and leave a comment. this really helped my transitions so muchhhhhh
Hi Phil! Thank you so much for explaining this, this made total sense after watching another video about music theory for 30 minutes and was a little lost. I recently ordered the DDJ-FLX4 (backordered) and just learning basic DJing before I get my hands on it. You've gained a subscriber, thanks for making it so easy again!
may I also say that the tones and lyrical messages of the 2nd set example I felt better about as well... I am quite sensitive to that I don't know how others feel? I think the beat is mismatched on the 1st one? I just feel good hearing positive messages and in a chord. You looking lovely. There are too many destructive messages in club music today
Yeah just the comment I was looking for lol it actually sounded pretty good to me too. It just proves to trust your ear and that you don't ALWAYS have to be in key to mix.. just use it as a helpful tool.
Ive just bought it as its on offer for about 30 odd quid. Main thing I wanted it for is that Serato has analysed the BPM completely wrong on a lot of tracks and Im gonna use mik to feed the info back into Serato
About 6% of pitch change will result the music to be one semitone higher/lower. About 3% will result in detuning by half a semitone which should not be compatible with any standard key (in theory).
Direct neighbors should usually work fine. If they are really in the key detected by the software there is only one note that's in one scale but not the other. In the end you should just use your ears and try it out. There are other concepts that do allow more combinations than the ones shown in this video. If two tracks don't sound well together you always have the option to pitch the next song up or down one semitone and they will most likely sound fine together...

Read your crowd...meet the people you're going to play for find out what music they like...is the best advice for DJing I've had. ✌
The epic beard is coming along nicely.

Exactly correct. Mixed in key and virtual dj conflict on keys more often than not. U must listen by ear to know which is right and go with it.

Is a good resource but then u should make it more yours than any
Be blessed you helping me in my Dj journey
I love it! DJ Harris is one of the best!!!

Best explanation and demo I’ve seen! Thanks Phil.

Proper tut there. Many thanks.
What model of your dj mixer machine ? Please tell me
Aw what I love music theory
first one broo 🔥🔥
Is it me or did the first example sound alright, was tryna hear if they were harmonically compatible.... Unpopular opinion
Yeah just the comment I was looking for lol it actually sounded pretty good to me too. It just proves to trust your ear and that you don't ALWAYS have to be in key to mix.. just use it as a helpful tool.
OK, you make me laugh and you actually know some things, you can have +1 on this occasion.
Good video very helpful 👏
Can you configure rekordbox to show the keys like this?
Martin Garrix appreciates your Video😂😂😂😂
Thanks Phil
Is Mixed in Key Worth it?
Ive just bought it as its on offer for about 30 odd quid. Main thing I wanted it for is that Serato has analysed the BPM completely wrong on a lot of tracks and Im gonna use mik to feed the info back into Serato
It was on sale last weekend, better to buy that than subscribe to rekordbox lol
Will bpm matter if i can transition to another song?😊
Thanks for the video Phil. Any chance you could explain how the key changes with bpm?
It doesn’t if you use key lock
About 6% of pitch change will result the music to be one semitone higher/lower. About 3% will result in detuning by half a semitone which should not be compatible with any standard key (in theory).
What site/app do you use to download music onto serato/rekorordbox?
Can you move from a 3b in the example to a 4b and have the tracks sounding fairly similar?
Direct neighbors should usually work fine. If they are really in the key detected by the software there is only one note that's in one scale but not the other.
In the end you should just use your ears and try it out. There are other concepts that do allow more combinations than the ones shown in this video. What’s up man?
