    What a beautiful result, it was nice to see that you kept some of the little problems which cropped up and how you remedied them, that was useful to learn from.

      Tim Peterson Same here. Coming out of the movie after hearing those cars in a theatre and then the first thing you hear is some kid in a Honda Civic with a muffler was honestly such a jarring experience XD

      Saw this video months ago, but after seeing the film, I'm doing the same thing. Probably going for the 1/12 scale Trumpeter release coming out in December 2019 + KA detail up kit.

    Wonderful job! One of my favorite cars. I used to build models of all types when I was young, but not nearly as good as this of course. I have too many things going on in life now with family and responsibility to be able to do this. So I enjoy watching you work. Thanks.

    Outstanding! I really enjoy your channel. I love the fact you do much of the assembly work before painting (cockpits and interiors) too often I spend far too much time detailing and painting every single part seperately before gluing it all together. Your approach is one I'll adopt in future builds. I think it'll be many more years and hundreds of models down the line before i ever manage to finish a model as well though.
    Carry on! You're a master at what you do :)

    Fujimi kits are very nice indeed. I use the bodies of such kits and put a slotcar chassis under them for racing. Wish I had the skill David has in making them up. But then again, I wouldn't want to race them.

    If you did this model over again, would you follow the same sequence? I noticed you decided to sand and polish after everything was fitted... and no clear as a final post-decal step. I've watched some of your other videos where you do things a bit differently. Is it trial and error or dependent on the model? Great videos - very relaxing.

    Very nice. I wish I had your skills. I have been trying to combine 2 kits to duplicate may fathers GT40 (#1029) The kit you show here, (the Mark II which has the correct wheels) and the gt40 MK 1. I have all the decals, but this is where I screw it up overtime. That and your paint is much better. I might have to take another crack at it

    hi David. great job, again. keep up. have one question: you used xf1 instead of x1. since the x1 is the glossy one, why didnt tou use it? is because is more dificult to use clear gloss on a already glossy paint? thanks in advance this would help me a lot.

    • @idaemonplasmo
      @idaemonplasmo  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ou. I forget to write in comments. I used both colours. The base colour is XF1 because dry faster and then I sprayed model with X-1.

      +PLASMO - plastic models really? At 4:17 it really looks that you're spraying the super clear over a flat xf1?! Can you please confirm? Dont boter you any more. Thanks again

    • @idaemonplasmo
      @idaemonplasmo  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @idaemonplasmo

      I use original Mr.color leveling thinner. Ratio depends on airbrush nozzle size but 1:4 for thinner is universal ration.

    What is the putty you stick small parts to for painting?

  • @FranklyNorman
    @FranklyNorman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I actually liked it after you scuffed it up, but before you polished it. I’ve seen a lot of older track cars in person, and the paint is always somewhat dull like that. It’s lost it’s luster from thousands of miles of dirt and debris hitting it at high speed. Even when the car is clean, it looks drab. And they never re-paint certain cars, because the paint adds weight (and decreases value). So what you usually see is an original coat of thin, faded paint.

  • @harryhathaway1086

    Did I miss something aren't you supposed to put a clear coat over the decals ?

    • @cesarignjas
      @cesarignjas 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He did, 5:07, problem is that this clear coat does shrink a lot and does not build up good thicknes as 2k clears, so it demands more layers and it is harder to cover the step between the base coat and the decals, on the good side is that small details like panel lines, rivets, grills and wipers remains sharper than the ones covered with a thick glossy 2k clearcoat, you always sacrifice something.

    @capucinebuddy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Two quick questions, if I thin down black acrylic tamyia will that be like tamyia panel line wash as it is very hard to find near me for some reason. Second question is my airbrush will not shoot a stream, it is dual action but when I pull back it will shoot a puff of water then stop. Any ideas?

    • @idaemonplasmo
      @idaemonplasmo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Acrylic definitely not. Panel line wash is enamel, so you can try to mix enamel colour for example transparent x-19 and thinner x-20. I hope it will be very similar or you can use Humbrol, Mig, Vallejo, AK and many other washes. Tamiya is just one of many.
      Second question. I don't know but you can try to clean it again. Check seals and nozzle.
