So, St Patrick was a Christian when he was captured in 'around 100 BC'. Does anyone know who that guy was that the Romans crucified in Jerusalem in AD 33?
I still find it absolutely astonishing that Japan celebrates St Patricks day lol. I just found out a few years ago, but I have seen some of the parades and they are amazing. I hope this years one was good.
Nice video but you need to get your facts right. St Patrick was not brought to Ireland in 102 BC. According to Patrick's autobiographical Confessio, when he was about sixteen, he was captured by Irish raiders from his home in Britain and taken as a slave to Ireland. He writes that he lived there for six years as an animal herder before escaping and returning to his family. After becoming a cleric, he returned to spread Christianity in Ireland. This happened in the 5th century AD.
Glen i like your video can you share tips like where in dublin locals go to celebrate st patrick's? i want to dive in Irish culture as much as i can 🥳💃since i'm going this year to st patrick's please and thank you.
Hi everyone, I am jobless for a long time, I need some money, I have a request from all of you, if anyone can help me financially, it will be very kind.
NOT 1 FROM DUBLIN ALL STRANGERS I REMEMBER YOU GO PARADE ? U WOULD MEET ALL YOUR NEABOURS , FREINDS , AND SOMEONE DRUNK ? ( I KNOW ) ( YOU ) IT WAS THE BEST DAY ALL YEAR ? GONE .................... 😪
I learned something, never knew St.Pats Day was invented in America! ❤ Ireland. I've been there many times and on St. Patrick's Day. Will be in Dublin in 3 weeks to visit the Christmas Markets there and in Galway. Love from California!
Hi!! So where Irish celebrate st patrick's if you don't mind me asking? I'm going this year to dublin for st patrick's and I don't want to see so many Americans 😅
Christianity wasn't popular in Ireland in 100 BC, maybe because it didn't exist yet. Small clue BC stands for before Christ, AD for Anno Domini. Words fail. Sorry, one last word on this, St Patrick didn't drink Guinness he preferred Murphys.
Dublin is a filthy, smelly city.... ashamed of my capital city. I avoid going near it and i live 11km away. I have visited many capital cities and ours is the dirtiest. Temple bar is a tourist trap. 10.50e for a pint ffs
Not as bad as you say, have seen better, worse and the same globally. I have worked in the city for 40 years and loved working there, better any day than some soulless business park off the M50 . Had the experience and dumped it quickly. I agree as a Dubliner Temple Bar is a Kip, but it serves a purpose for who ever, I’m too old and can’t be arsed. All cities have their pluses and minuses and I have been in many, don’t be too hard on Dublin😀😀
By the way I was in nyc last year on hols, have been there many times although last 2 times previously for work in 2018 and 2019. If you have a problem with a 10 euro pint don’t go there. In Manhattan the cheapest normal beer I had was 12 dollars and the cheapest glass of wine was 16, before tip… if you think rent is expensive here, have a look at there..
0:36 Seriously Glen how the f**k could St Patrick have brought Christianity to Ireland if he was captured around 100BC? How could he be Christian in 100BC? Think Glen, f**king think!
@susanmoriarty to be honest its more the dublin parade, its just loud and gaudy. This is no more about celebrating st patrick or irishness than it is just to get pissed and what i would call plastic paddyery. I may sound like an old grouch but it really does my head in
@@fiachraswaz I will never HATE the fact st.patrick is celebrated as our patron saint but do agree it’s gone in to commercial overdrive ,personally we celebrate as a small family group no silly hats etc💚However I do find the negativity around st.Patricks day annoying and there seems to be a bit of jealousy as we’re probably the only country in the world who actually celebrate there saint I might be wrong in that comment but it seems that way💚
this is what i mean, st patrick isnt being celebrated at all, just being used as an excuse to throw a party. If you were to ask the majority there who st patrick was or what he did, they wouldnt have a clue. Im proud of being irish but what happens in these big parades does nothing to quell the stereotypes about us and certainly doesnt celebrate anything on the history of patrick
OMG, as a Brazilian, I was shocked by the number of Brazilians there. Every corner you went to had someone speaking Portuguese. Great video btw
Oh Dublin is the second brazil 😂😂 hope you enjoyed this random episode of saint Patrick’s day!
That's who we buy of drugs from 👍
Yea all drug dealing great to see

Totally agree, this bloke hasn't a clue.
As the leader of the Parade here in Yokohama, Japan, your video made me miss home!
I still find it absolutely astonishing that Japan celebrates St Patricks day lol. I just found out a few years ago, but I have seen some of the parades and they are amazing. I hope this years one was good.
Its amazing how mainstream media picks and chooses what to transmit. Friendly crowds
Its what we in irelland call going to the pubs for a drink wetting or drowning the shamrock 😂😂💚 dont know where the saying came from though 🤔😍
Words fail me!
St.Patrik came to Ireland in 432 A.D.
Definitely meant that! 😂 not BC!

Alcoholic ginger People. My people.
hahaha very small amount of ginger people though!
Where are they? I didn't spot one. I've looked at a lot of parades, too. I think they have to hide out to avoid harassment or something.
St Patrick was a christian 100 years before christ was born ???? 432 AD
So sad that the Brazilian couldn’t respond a simple question in English.
Can you speak Portuguese? Not everybody speaks two languages
Nobody could answer his question except the American lad near the end .
@@KyleSterling32well if you moved to brazil youd know a little bit of portugese
Ireland is supposed to contain the most redheads in the world, but I could hardly spot one. Many of the people appear to be quite swarthy in fact.
As he said most people there were tourists or "new Irish " .Anyway only around 15% of Irish people have red hair .

St Patrick was a Briton who civilised the pagan irish.
The weather's not the best of course. The weather is never the best in Ireland 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hope you enjoyed Rebecca! And you’ll have a blast in Ireland the people are amazing 😀
St Patrick was captured about 100 BC 'before Christ ' but was already a Christian? How does that happen?
St Patrick was around about 347AD
Laughed when he said that 😂
This is cosmopolitan multi cultural Dublin. I love it. Some of the right wing sentiment lately is sickening and totally unjustified
Hey glenn can u speak gaelic?
Kerala
nice to have you back my friend
Not true irish do celebrate st patricks day its only in dublin where the irish are outnumbered by tourists.
feels that way definitely!
Hi!! So where Irish celebrate st patrick's if you don't mind me asking? I'm going this year to dublin for st patrick's and I don't want to see so many Americans 😅
It is wonderful to see all these people celebrating St Patrick's day they are all welcome.God bless them all.
@@ivonnecamargo8116 There were not that many Americans .
Wait St Patrick was christian 100BC?
he was converting people to Christianity during 400s AD
@@GlenAndMado Thanks!
How could it be 100 BC.!Converting to Christianity is AD.
Sooo he came to Ireland 100 years before christ and was a Christian! Too funny ;)
Hahahaha must of read it wrong of Google 😂
