This might be the best planner video I’ve ever seen. It’s not a glorified scrapbook, but an actual planner that’s functional and easy to follow. I got so many ideas just from this one video. I’m looking forward to watching your other videos. Thank you for taking the time to post this.
I agree. Fantastic video. Very descriptive and thorough. The only thing I would say might be missing is to point out what comes in a yearly pack, and what is an extra purchase. I used Day-Timers since the mid 80's and I can't find on their website where I can order a printed catalog to see actual size images of what each style of planner included. I also liked the 2 pages per day spreads but I used to use a smaller one I think they called pocket size and each month was a spiral bound booklet I'm older now and my eyesight isn't what it once was so I might find this size better. I used to carry with me 2 or 3 months in my cover depending on the time of month. In my function there was no need to carry the entire year around I tracked work, personal, financial, and food. I chose one that had times written in that covered as much of the day as possible. Some only have 9-5 but there are 24 hours in a day Those bullet journals only have a tiny box for each day. How can you track anything. A lot happens in a day
Tonya, I just found your video as a recommendation from TH-cam. I found your video very thorough and helpful. Your video library looks like it has many more helpful videos to watch as I look to get into a structured planner system. Subscribed.
Tonya, Thank you for sharing your methods. I, too, am a Franklin gal. I've slacked off on using my planner and would like to go back to it. I've been very digital lately but there isn't much room for organization that I can put my hands on. The paper worked better for me. I will continue to watch yours videos. I've gotten my planner out today. It's been about 2 months since I planned or journaled anything. Today is. my day. Thank you!
I have used F.P.s since 1992 but love how neat and detailed your system is. I got a lot of ideas from this video. I use the compact size. I'm 71 & hoping I don't have to replace my binder.
Great application!! Very inspirational! Just getting back into my old Franklin planner routine that I gave up for the iPhone calendars and appointment notifications back when that first became available. It was just never the same. Looking forward to being more productive back on the Franklin planner system! Thank you for the wonderful video series, Tonya! 👍
I used to have a Franklin Planner back in the day--and I loved it. I even took the Franklin Time Planning course. But then I moved to using electronic apps and calendar--and I don't think I've been nearly as productive. So I recently ordered a new Franklin Planner and I'm anticipating its arrival!
Thank you! Congratulations on all your success. I’m excited to but my 2021 planner and think I’m going to switch from Hobonichi to Franklin based on your videos.
Tonya thanks for this video. I’ve just retired, and I am working on a strategy to be sure I am using my time in a meaningful way. The Franklin Planner system has seemed a bit overwhelming and your video was very helpful.
OMG! I just checked out your channel and I am HONORED you took a moment to comment on my video. THANK YOU!!!! I'm going to look at some of your videos now!
Lady! We are cut from the same cloth. I love "a time for everything" Ecclesiastes 3 and Ben Franklin's 13 Virtues. I loved your video. I do not comment often on anything. Thank you very much. I will most likely buy the same setup from Franklin Covey. Thanks again. God bless you.
Tanya, thank you for another great video! What I appreciate about your videos is how peacefully you lead us through your planning process. Without a process, a planner is not a tool; it is merely a book. I have been a paper planner for 40 years and still find so many great ideas on how to improve my process through your examples. Keep the videos coming!!!!!!!!
I have been out of the Franklin planner for some time and starting to use the digital planner version. However, I watched your video to acclimate myself with the system. I am now subscribed and a fan! Thank you ☺️
I’m very analytical, and enjoy your detailed information you provide. Simply love listening to you!! I always learn from all your videos. Thank you for presenting it in such a professional way.
I enjoyed this detailed walk through, as I’m new to exploring FC. Thanks for sharing about your system and for the close-up views of the pages! Very helpful.
Tonya I love how you keep your planner so simple, clean and neat. After watching your video I realized I have way too many tabs that i never use! I can’t wait to revamp my planner tabs. I love the way you added the clear dividers with beautiful writing. Thank you for sharing 💕
Thank you so much for this. I just found your site. I have been half heartedly using a franklin for years. With this video you have brought to life so many of the things they talk about but I never really caught on to. I got so many ideas that I will be implementing.
I like how you've separated work and personal in your tasks list. I had a lump list and separated by highlighter, but you're is so much less visually straining!
Tonya. This is so detail oriented and laser focused for success. I appreciate the time you spent teaching your system (a great compilation of the Franklin Covey system) Thank you.
I am late to this party, but: THANK YOU for this video! I've been thru a dozen planners in the last few years, and this is my second go-round with Franklin. Aside from the *actual* Franklin training video, this is the FIRST "planner walkthru" where I see an ACTUAL PLANNER and not some kiddie sticker book with NO space to PLAN!! Now, if I can only move past planning, and start DOing, I'd be golden!!
I have watched several of your videos. I’ve owned FP for several years but am a terrible planner! I love your videos because they are teaching me how to use it and giving me ideas how I can customize my planner around my day and not only use my planner but also be more productive because of it. I must compliment you on you videos! They are so detailed and you explain everything perfectly. Although, obviously, my daily life is so different from yours, I can see how this system works for me. I like the structure of FP rather than the other planners on the market. I use the Compact Seasons pack and love the colorful pages. I try and keep it small as to not overwhelm myself. Thank you SO very much for you professional guidance with this planner! God bless you and your family. ❤️
Hi Tonya, Thank you for this video! I haven’t used a FP in like 15 years and I just ordered a whole set-up as I do think it’s a great tool. I’m excited to get back into it!
Hi Tonya! Thanks for another great functional planning video! I have the Compact planner that I also use as a wallet - I love it! I've tried to go to the weekly planner format, but always come back to the day on two pages in the Original planner. I like having the daily notes page. I've thought about going to the Classic size so there would be more room to write, but the Compact is so portable, I don't really want to change it. I pray that you and your family will find much joy in the New Year!
You’re my favorite planner TH-camr. You convinced me to try the Franklin Planner this past quarter and I gave it a trial. Your videos help me to see more ways I can use and personalize my Franklin Planner. I couldn’t decide which style planner to go with for 2021 but after watching your video I think I’m going to try the Carrara. I appreciate your soothing voice and high quality videos. Thank you for the ideas and helping me see how the Franklin Planner can work for me. God bless!
Aww Beth. I think you made my day. Believe it or not, I have some haters out there and when people say kind things, I appreciate it so much. I love the Franklin Planner system! Happy holidays to you and your family.
Wow! Very thorough video. Great refresher for me. Thanks, Tonya! You’ve inspired me to go through & update some sections of my planner & to weed out the sections I don’t use.
Great content, Tonya! Thank you for taking the time to making such detailed videos. I’ve learned a lot from you. May 2021 be a blessed year for you and your family!
Oh, Tonya, I loved this and learned so much. After my nails dry, I am going to redo my Franklin Covey set up. I will probably watch this again though to make sure it is done correctly. Thank you so very much and, Happy New Year! Love, Jeanie
Ooo...clear page lifters! For almost two years I was enamored of 6-ring Filofax in the A5 size. It never felt right to me, though. I'm back for good in 7-ring Franklin and Day-timer binders and got rid of the 6-ring. And since you can also find both as open binder 3-ring in the A5 size--I use as companion notebooks--the "planner feels" are happy for life!
Great video! Thanks, Tonya! I like how organized you were in your presentation and very thorough too. Your speaking pace was also great. So helpful to me deciding on using the Covey Planner for 2022.
Thorough video Tonya...tfs. While I do have separate work & catch-all planners, I also color code, using black ink for work & blue for most personal things. Sometimes I have to note a personal appt in my work planner or vice versa, so the colors help to draw my eye to that. I also use specific colors for my various civic organizations. Looking forward to seeing your 2021 flipthru & 2022 set-up video.
Tonya you are the best! You are easy to listen too. Calming and pleasant. I love FP also! My first one purchased in 1996! My question/request is that you explain better why you have all month tabs together. I use one month on 2 pages and then go right into that month. Thoughts?
Hey! Hi! Nothing wrong with spreading your monthly tabs in between the planner inserts! I have just grown accustomed to having all of my monthly pages in the front. There’s no right or wrong way. 🙂 Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for this great video. I always learn something new from you! I will write on my planner to go back and watch this again, especially the daily pages section. There is so much to think about in this video!
One area I struggle with is tracking repetitive daily tasks. For example, I walk daily. I go to the gym twice a week. I journal three times per week. I use the weekly format so my task list area is small and these seem too repetitive to write there. But I like to check them off each day. I’ve drawn my own grid which I’m currently using, but it’s time consuming to draw. I looked at the FC Progressive tasks insert but couldn’t figure out how to use it for this. Would love a video on this topic. Or any thoughts you have. Thanks for the great videos.
Hello Tonya! I had a question about something from this video. You briefly mention at about 34:20 in the Video, having “Printed Out” Bible Quotes & “Ben Franklin’s” 13 Virtues. My question is in reguards to “Printing” for “Franklin Covey” sized pages, I know about shrinking down font sizes to a certain percentage in order to fit text onto pages, Would you happen to know the best Margin Size to adjust to, to properly fit “Franklin Covey” “Classic” Pages? Thanks & great video, sorry I’m only getting to it now!
I love the functionality of your planner! I also put some postage stamps in my planner too. They have saved my life as well as my coworkers' lives several times a year!! I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas, and very happy New Year!!!
My first ever Franklin planner is arriving tomorrow. I got the hunter green classic size Libby. Years ago I considered getting a Franklin planner but couldn't justify the price since I was new into planning.
@@TonyaPlans thank you! Also thank you for your videos, they have been very helpful so far during my Franklin planner journey. All of your binders are so beautiful. 💕
thanks for the walkthrough! I just ordered a franklin classic and what they had available on their website for inserts. I'd like some color (ordered the seasons that has some color) and other stuff for the inside but etsy is very overwhelming and SOO many printouts and I want stuff ready to go!
I love how you split your monthly and dailies...and, how you use your index in that way. I was only using it for important events of the month but i like the way to create a tickler for important notes! I really appreciate your videos. Just when I think I have my system functional and efficient, you teach me something new! Thank you so much! Question: I have the TC Black Life binder and the Ebony in Rylan, but I am looking at the Tyler...is it heavy?
Hello there! Thank you for watching. I did a video on the Tyler and I actually weigh the Tyler binder in the video. The Teresa Collins binder is definitely lighter than the Tyler binder. th-cam.com/video/KQpUo2_dcqY/w-d-xo.html
I ordered the Carrara in Compact & I was so disappointed - the way the holes are punched it warps the page so they don't flip smoothly. But oh well =0). I really like your videos. Thank you for sharing! Happy New Year!
I did not know Franklin Planner had a Receipt Envelope. I Like to put the Monthly Calander pages in front of each monthly Daily planner pages & use the monthly tabs to section out each month. I also use the clear plastic zipper pouch to store mailing stamps. I guess I'm setting up my planner wrong. This video is helpful, although 2023 is abought to start. LOL
Dear Tanya, I appreciate this video . I have two binders , compact and a classic . Classic peeled off . Grouping in prioritizing is brilliant . I would like to know again where I could get customized where I can put my name and my favorite word . I also like clear pages sectioning
Hi Olivia! 1.) Here's my video on how to make clear dividers with whatever you like on them: th-cam.com/video/Bcsc3JJUYB8/w-d-xo.html 2.). You can use this link to buy custom dashboard (use discount code TONYAPLANS or mention my name in "Note to Seller"): www.etsy.com/listing/649409770/clear-planner-dashboard-whand-lettered?ref=hp_rv-1&pro=1?coupon=TONYAPLANS
I have an old Planner from the late 1990's that I want to use again. I am interested in inserts, and it has 7 permanent round coils that I think look very similar to the one in this video. Please help!
Thank you for another wonderful video. Love your thoroughness and clarity in helping me to understand more even for this seasoned 'old-time' Franklin fan. I moved over to digital when the Palm Pilots came out and was relieved that I didn't have to carry my binder (though I like the new slim profile(A5) better) No tasks apps I can get on Google Play comes anywhere close. :( . My fountain pens are calling for paper 🤣. Anything you can contribute I'd appreciate. As it stands I believe I need to decide which way to go. PS I am so sorry to hear about your Dad - lost both my Dad and Stepdad recently. 🫂
Hi. I just checked the website and you are correct. I don’t see the Cararra planner listed. You can chat with them live during working hours. They have items for sale that is not on their website sometimes. Also you can give them the discount promo code TONYAPLANS to save over the phone. 🙂. Have a great day.
Awesome video! I'm trying to decide if I want to use a paper or a digital version. I want somewhere I can put my planning and my notes from classes in the same place. I don't like carrying a lot around on campus. But a lot of things are online--books and syllabi--so do I go all in to digital or leave room for my paper...?!
That’s the question a lot of people have…paper or digital? I’ve tried digital but felt scattered with it and had to come back to paper planning. If you’re curious about digital, try it. You can always switch back to paper planning later if it doesn’t work for you. ☺️
I have a question for you Ms. Tonya since you're my Franklin Planner inspiration:) I bought Her Point of View to use as my monthly and as I'm beginning to set up January,I notice that they put the 30/31 on the top of the page in the boxes preceding the start of the month. I don't like this at all :( Are all the Franklin monthlies like this? This is my first time with classic size, but I never noticed this in compact. Please advise :)
Hey girl hey! I just checked my Carrara Daily monthly planner inserts and yes, they put the 31st for January at the top of the page. I'm okay with that because if they would have put it on it's own separate row, all of the boxes would have been smaller and harder to write in.
@@TonyaPlans ahhh that makes sense. I am likely going to use the decorative right corner box as my “31”. It’s not a dealbreaker. I am using my Ebony Life binder for my financial planning so it’s going well. I really enjoy it🥰 maybe by spring I’ll add some other inserts it switch to carrera at mid-year if they have a July start. Thanks for your reply! I hope your new year is off to a wonderful start!♥️
How often do you change planners? I'd never considered changing up planners more often than maybe once a year. If you've addressed this changeover process in another dedicated video I'll search for it. Thanks!
Hey. I never intend to change planners before the year is up but it sometimes happens. I will see a planner that I think will better fit my needs and sometimes switch.
Hello Tonya. Do you put in your binder one month at a time of your two page daily planner or all 12 months of your daily two page planner? Hope this makes sense.
Hi. If you have a binder with 1.25 inch rings, you can fit 3 to 4 months of 2 page per day planner inserts, but not much else. If you have a 2 pages per day planner, I recommend using binders with 1.5 inch rings or switching your current ring size to 1.5 inch rings. To buy 1.5 inch rings only, call FP customer service number (you can give them discount promo code TONYAPLANS over the phone).
Hi Lynn. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like! I use the PILOT FriXion Light Pastel Erasable Highlighters. But for yellow, I use a sharpee yellow highlighter. They do not bleed through the planner paper probably because they are on the pastel side.
@@TonyaPlans if you are careful with watching your schedule, you should be unfamiliar with Animal Crossing because it will suck you in...just to go fishing while you listen to happy music. lol

Fabulous video as always Tonya, detailed and informative. I wish you a healthy and happy New Year and hope 2021 is much kinder to you ❤️
Hi Jeanette! I thought I responded to this earlier but don't see it so...happy holidays to you my friend.
Thank you! I appreciate your showing me how to set up my planner!
Thank you 🙏🏽 for watching!
You explain the FC system so well. Great video! Sorry for your loss, my condolences 💐
Hello Agentfelicia! My sister's name is Felicia. Thank you and I hope you have a great holiday.
This video is excellent. Thanks. Will watch the rest!
Hi Brian! Thank you for watching! 🤗
Thank you so much for this great video. I always learn something new from you! I will write on my planner to go back and watch this again, especially the daily pages section. There is so much to think about in this video!
Hi Kathy! Thank you so much for watching. 🤗🙂☺️
That's a great topic idea! I will add to my list to do a video on this.
Yes I would like ideas for tracking routine tasks too
@@esmorris40383 Gotcha!
Oh me too. Love this idea.
Hello Tonya!
I had a question about something from this video.
You briefly mention at about 34:20 in the Video, having “Printed Out” Bible Quotes & “Ben Franklin’s” 13 Virtues.
My question is in reguards to “Printing” for “Franklin Covey” sized pages, I know about shrinking down font sizes to a certain percentage in order to fit text onto pages,
Would you happen to know the best Margin Size to adjust to, to properly fit “Franklin Covey” “Classic” Pages?
Thanks & great video, sorry I’m only getting to it now!
I love the functionality of your planner! I also put some postage stamps in my planner too. They have saved my life as well as my coworkers' lives several times a year!! I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas, and very happy New Year!!!
Hey! Hi! Yes, someone is always borrowing a postage stamp from me too! I hope you have a great holiday!

이봐! 감사합니다!
My first ever Franklin planner is arriving tomorrow. I got the hunter green classic size Libby. Years ago I considered getting a Franklin planner but couldn't justify the price since I was new into planning.
The Libby binder is absolutely beautiful! I hope you love it. I never owned one but I’m sure you will be happy with the quality.
@@TonyaPlans thank you! Also thank you for your videos, they have been very helpful so far during my Franklin planner journey. All of your binders are so beautiful. 💕
This was so helpful! Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
Loved it! Very inspiring!
Hi Adrina! Thank you for watching!
Hi Tonya Thank you for your uploads
Hi Christine! Thanks for watching.
as always great video you have gotten me back to FC for 2021
Thank You Erik. 😘😘😘
thanks for the walkthrough! I just ordered a franklin classic and what they had available on their website for inserts. I'd like some color (ordered the seasons that has some color) and other stuff for the inside but etsy is very overwhelming and SOO many printouts and I want stuff ready to go!
Hi Susanna! I hope you love the Seasons inserts and other planner goodies! Thanks for watching.
Oh no! You should call them to get that rectified.
Great video. Thank you for sharing.
Hey hi! Thank you for watching. 🤗
LOL
Yay! New video!
🙂😊😌
Dear Tanya, I appreciate this video . I have two binders , compact and a classic . Classic peeled off .
Grouping in prioritizing is brilliant . I would like to know again where I could get customized where I can put my name and my favorite word . I also like clear pages sectioning
Hi Olivia!
1.) Here's my video on how to make clear dividers with whatever you like on them: th-cam.com/video/Bcsc3JJUYB8/w-d-xo.html
2.). You can use this link to buy custom dashboard (use discount code TONYAPLANS or mention my name in "Note to Seller"): www.etsy.com/listing/649409770/clear-planner-dashboard-whand-lettered?ref=hp_rv-1&pro=1?coupon=TONYAPLANS
new subbie! thanks for making this movie!
Thank you so much for watching!
Tonya, do you prefer the snap or magnetic closer over the zipper ones? Do you think the snap or magnetic closers hold more?
Hi. I prefer snap binders but unfortunately, they rarely come in 1.5 inch rings. I think the ring size dictates how much a binder can hold.
I have an old Planner from the late 1990's that I want to use again. I am interested in inserts, and it has 7 permanent round coils that I think look very similar to the one in this video. Please help!
Love all the floral accessories--where did you purchase them--do they come in your set
@@chrissigrigsby871 Hey. Hi. I don’t remember, this video was recorded 3 years ago. 🙂
Thank you for another wonderful video. Love your thoroughness and clarity in helping me to understand more even for this seasoned 'old-time' Franklin fan. I moved over to digital when the Palm Pilots came out and was relieved that I didn't have to carry my binder (though I like the new slim profile(A5) better)
No tasks apps I can get on Google Play comes anywhere close. :( . My fountain pens are calling for paper 🤣. Anything you can contribute I'd appreciate. As it stands I believe I need to decide which way to go.
PS I am so sorry to hear about your Dad - lost both my Dad and Stepdad recently. 🫂
Love your set up. I couldn't find the Carrera daily planner in classic size. Didn't see it on FC website. Its the on!y one I really like.
Hi. I just checked the website and you are correct. I don’t see the Cararra planner listed. You can chat with them live during working hours. They have items for sale that is not on their website sometimes. Also you can give them the discount promo code TONYAPLANS to save over the phone. 🙂. Have a great day.
@@TonyaPlans Thanks a lot for checking and responding. I’ll call today. Fingers crossed😊
I kinda took a quick look lol. Heading into a meeting 😜
Thank you my friend. It’s hard to make planner flip through videos short! 🙂
What do you call the green where you draw the straight line I love that too. Thank you for teaching me use compass.
🙂 The link for the green stencil is here: ebay.us/OkekbZ
What do you think of the expanse envelope? Can you do a video on this?
Hi Lynn. I love the expense envelopes. Here’s a video on them: th-cam.com/video/Vq3DVsqGFrI/w-d-xo.html
Great video 💞
Thanks Linda!
Your pens are beautiful ❤️ Where do you get them from?
Hi. It’s a Cross pen from Franklin Planner.
What kind of highlighter do you use and does it bleed to the back page?
So I’m so full of questions today.
Hi Lynn. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like! I use the PILOT FriXion Light Pastel Erasable Highlighters. But for yellow, I use a sharpee yellow highlighter. They do not bleed through the planner paper probably because they are on the pastel side.
Background music is VERY close to Animal Crossing. It's happy music :)
I’m not familiar with Animal Crossing. 🤔Thanks for watching!
@@TonyaPlans if you are careful with watching your schedule, you should be unfamiliar with Animal Crossing because it will suck you in...just to go fishing while you listen to happy music. lol
Can you please tell me what size you indicated for classic panner dashboard on Etsy website. Thank you!
Hey. I selected “FC Classic.”
@@TonyaPlans Thank you for your response! I appreciate it.
I did my inkjet clear page divider however was not successful in cutting for my compact size . I even took it to staples printing
Oh no! What happened?
Where did you get the automobile reference sheet? Is it available thru Franklin Covey?
Hi Michele. The automobile insert is in the Starter Pack and Financial Supplement on the Franklin Planner website. Thanks for watching.
I felt the binder was heavy
What is Tdap?
Hey. TDAP is a vaccine recommended for everyone according to my doctor. It protects against Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis and whooping cough.
I also want a divider with my name please
