Discovery of a Lost Town Isolated by the Ocean | So Much Left Behind | Destination Adventure.

- There are few places in this world that man has not set foot, but everywhere he goes, something is left behind. When I left for my trip up north, I knew I would visit Kincolith and the Nass Valley, but not with the intention of discovering a town. This part of the country holds a special place in my heart. Having travelled all around the world, this is a true gem that we have here in BC. All of this land belongs to the indigenous, and they have welcomed me in with open arms for two years in a row now. aside from the beauty, this land is plentiful. The crabbing is amazing, the fishing is amazing and the foraging is amazing, you just have to be careful for bears because they are everywhere.
People have lived along the coast of BC for thousands of years, and I feel thankful to be able to see it in all of its glory today.
It is still unknown what the history was of this find, but I am guessing it was the site of a small town and cannery. Our coastline was littered with canneries decades ago, but I don't have enough evidence to say for sure.
If it wasn't obvious in the video, let me tell you how excited I am for the Northern adventures. Growing up in BC, it seems I took advantage of the beauty around me for so many years. Working as a Video Producer on cruise ships taught me how to capture that beauty well, but I still didn't take time to truly appreciate it. After traveling for months in Mexico with the motorhome, I began to crave the north like it was a drug. This season, I am getting you all hooked on the north drug too.

That's an old Imperial Oil sign. Great piece of history. They normally would say "products" or "dealer" below the imperial on the front. They were used to either designate a licensed seller of imperial oil products or a piece of machinery using said products. Fun fact, they were acquired by Standard Oil in the 1890s, JD Rockefeller's burgeoning petroleum monopoly. They retained the Imperial Oil labelling throughout Canada though. They still operate oil sands in northern Alberta today.
That seems a little early. That sign was in a condition that would indicate a much more recent abondonment. I'm thinking it was from Imperial Metals. They're a mining and metals company in British Columbia.

just goggled the Imperial sign, it is Canadian, double sided porcelain and if in exellent shape it would be worth $2100......love seeing you back in our back yard...hope sunshine comes to the area...travel safely...
The label on the cup is actually Medalta. The factory is in Medecine Hat Alberta. They made all sorts of clay and pottery items.

Salmon berries! Awesome. Took me back to my childhood umpteen years ago as a young girl tramping through the forest exploring with my younger sisters. It was always a treat to find salmon berries! Thank you!
As a young girl in the 60s white jars often held cold cream or moisturizing cream. I remember vicks coming in glass jars as well. Cool discoveries...and I'm glad to see BC welcome you back with a crab feast💚🥳

That teacup is from Medalta Pottery, it was a large pottery manufacturer and brick yard in Medicine Hat, Alberta. They made everything from bricks to sewer pipes to large crocks to ashtrays and obviously tea cups. There is a museum at the old Medalta site, if you are ever in southern Alberta it is worth the cost of admission to tour around. On a side note, one of my wife's uncles used to work there and my wife told me a lot of stories about her time in Medicine Hat. Cool find and great video.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw that. I was born in a little town between the Hat and Lethbridge. my mom talked about the place in Medicine Hat that made hand-blown glass items.

12:59 Looks like an Imperial Oil sign. I believe it was bought by ESSO oil and gas company. I recognize the shape of the oval from my childhood in 1960s.

Looks like you found an abandoned WW2 logging camp. When troops were ordered out, they literally left EVERYTHING. There are logging camp remnants just like these all along the BC coast. I visited one in 2015 on Haida Gwaii just off Louise island.

@@InFamousProductions There were 100's of japanese-canadians on the coast before the war, when the government rounded them all up and sent them to concentration camps in the interior. There's been Nikkei (Japanese-Canadians) working as the backbone of fishing and logging in this province since the mid-1800's.
@@theuglytruckling ah ha! didn't know. Us yanks down south of you don't get much schooling on our northern neighbors about this kind of stuff. Good to know and makes sense. As a note, not to defend the situation that happened during the war, the town I'm from in CA was and is one of the largest oil reserves in the world, and at the beginning of the war, before they put them in the prison camps, the police/military found a Japanese loyalist with a secret short wave radio and was in contact with the imperial Japanese government telling them all about our oil productions and locations etc. (we had many oil refineries) . so it was not entirely unfounded of the paranoia of the day. The west coast of California people were terrified after Pearl Harbor , and was even attacked a few times by submarine. any way, love your channel!

Imperial sign with 3 stars was introduced in 1931 and inspired the naming of 3 stars on Hockey Night in Canada.
Thank you for the happy adventure this morning! The cup with the broken handle was made by Medalta Pottery in the Medicine Hat area of Alberta. They made housewares for decades that were used throughout Canada and beyond. The J&J on the jar is Johnson & Johnson.
They still make pots in part of the Medalta factory in Medicine Hat. The rest has been preserved just as it was when workers walked away from the machines - its an incredible museum, and also houses an artist in residence ceramics facility. I came here to correct the Medalta reference, but you beat me to it.

We went by Williams Lake on our way to our new home in Alaska Oct 2021. That drive through BC, the Yukon and Alaska was one of the most beautiful drives I have ever driven. It isn't for the "faint of heart" depending on what time of year you drive it. We were cutting it close going through Haines Junction into Tok, then through Anchorage. There was already snow on the roads. I really enjoyed your videos, and loved reliving some of our drive with you. I highly recommend driving the Al/Can highway to every single adventurous driver and road trippers out there. It will absolutely make you stop and take a deep breath, as you marvel at the incredible planet, and the most beautiful areas in the world, in my humble opinion. Definitely needs to be on everyone's bucket list. Thanks for sharing this! 😊

Not just about the crab, (although I am definitely jealous about that), but all of it - the traveling in such beautiful country, the boat ride in free, flowing water, the jumping out and exploring when you see something that catches your fancy, and all the untold stories you evoke with every little trinket you uncover and dust the dirt off of! As a kid I remember us driving up to 'Willy's Puddle' from Duncan almost every year for the rodeo. I had an aunt and a few cousins who lived there and it was always an awesome summer adventure. Took my kids on a vacation a number of years back and we drove that same old highway stopping in Williams Lake and visiting Barkerville, just like we had done when we were kids. Not much had changed the last time I was thru there either..........
Also heard the nickname "Bill's ditch"

Living in Ocean Falls were considered the happiest years of our friends lives. They were married there in the 1950’s when John worked in the paper mill. They were a generation older than my husband and myself and related stories of life there quite often. It broke their hearts when the town shut down.

Later this summer, one of our local Williams Lake timber framers will put up a beautiful picnic shelter in the village. I saw you leaving town, heading north with all your gear loaded so I assumed you're heading to your next destination.

Dude. I just discovered your channel. I bought a vintage GMC Motorhome 2.5 years ago. I've been watching van and RV channels ever since. Finding US or global content is easy. Finding quality Canadian content is not so easy. If all your videos are like this one - fantastic! Liked, subscribed, and notified! Looking fwd to watching your northern adventure. I'm from Ontario and camped every year growing up in the last Carolinian forest in North America. So much US content is dessert and I find it hard to enjoy. I was watching this one - which is obviously the transition between north and south. And there was something subtle that I noticed. While on these adventures you were honing your craft of videography and hosting for us - you seem to have a confidence and ease that I can see. Like you have grown into your own skin in your profession. So I just wanna say I am happy for you. You make the trials and tribulations of adventure look easy. I live in Calgary and love collecting old Medalta crocks. The glass jar with J&J would be Johnson and Johnson. There is sooo much history on the shores of BC slowly being absorbed by the rain forest. Rock on!

Medalta was a porcelain/pottery maker out of Medicine Hat AB. They still have a museum at the site. Medalta crocks are pretty highly desired by antique collectors.

I went out West 8 years ago solo on my old Ninja when I was 20 from Ontario.. Went through many towns and cities. Met hundreds of people and saw extremely beautiful things. the Rocky Mountains, Canyons, Glaciers, avalanches, the Northern Lights, the Prairies, Pacific Ocean.
It's always cool when I can tell people I went to Williams Lake before. I got stranded in Dease Lake, BC for 9 days when I had some mechanical failures. It was a gorgeous lake to be stuck at for over a week. My favorite stretch of road will always be Roger's Pass.

I am from Washington State and a similar climate on the coast. Nature in this area will reclaim very quickly, similar to a jungle environment.
I am obsessed with this kind of exploration. It's almost a battle against time...finding relics before nature can reclaim them into obscurity.
