You could have confederated if you just hit the peace treaty then scrolled down to the confederation. It's a bit deceiving when you don't see the peace treaty go green. I would have never figured it out if it wasn't for Lionheart.
heir if you go and propose both a peace treaty and a confederation at the same time it will go through but it will look like you can't do a peace treaty I saw lionheart do it.

Peace is red because they do not want peace, but if you select peace then add more conditions you will find "join confederation" in green thus allowing you to confederate. (Its a forceful confederation not a happy peaceful "let's join forces because we like each other" confederation, that is why peace is still red because you are not making peace with them, you are taking advantage of the fact that their leader has been defeated and are using their confusion and shame, as well as your honor, to force them into joining you). Since you ended the turn I'm not sure if it will still let you, I have only seen Lionheartx10 do the confederation so far and am not sure how exactly it works.

Defeating their lord makes them 100% for confederation request, but not peace. You pretty much have to offer peace and confederate in the same request and they will go for it (you can also take all their money ;)).
I think you schould've checked if confederation was possible: sometimes peace treaty is low, but if you click peace treaty you get all other options and they probably would've accepted peace and confederation. Kind of like a faction that doesn't want military acces but does want to trade and therefore accepts trade and military acces if you offer them together.
Just a heads up Heir, but I saw on the TW youtube channel that Norscan armies can always switch to a raiding stance, even when out of movement points. Thought about it while watching your army movements in the video and wondered if you had forgotten, since Norsca relies on raiding for income. So if your confident you won't be attacked that turn switch to raiding stance for extra loot.

I wonder if the reason there was a lot of auto-resolving battles in the beginning of this is because now I've discovered myself that auto-resolves are much more likely of bringing victory than actually fighting it! :) I'm struggling to hold together a squishy force that's difficult as hell to micromanage. First impressions for me! Seems like a lot of re-skinning on CA's part here too but the DLC is fun though!

Throgg on the other hand survived having to try to work with Sigvald and then took advantage of Sigvald the inbred and spoiled (by daddy-uncle) having a meltdown by not only getting the drop on him and killing him - but also making sure that he properly defiled the corpse

Not multiplayer. But definitely campaign. All old 4 factions (Vc, Emps, GSK, Dwarfs) will be hard-pressed. But the Bretonnians could take center stage now. But Norsca seems to excel against unarmored enemies so maybe you could be right.

Heir, you need to request peace, then request a confederation alongside it. Of course they wouldn't want to make a peace treaty with you you killed their leader, the idea is that they are simply absorbed into your tribe
you need to actually try the confedration even thou it says its a low chance they will do it I watch lionhearts video it had the same thing on his low chance of peace till he threw in the confederation with it then it when high he even got 2000 gold from them

Confederation: I think you have to first select the peace treaty, then on the same screen you will have access to the confederation option.

It's possible your mods are interfering because it's early access. that might be why you're experiencing bugs.
