Hello Lori! You are definitely a wealth of knowledge! I really enjoy watching your videos and I've gained a lot of knowledge regarding having an business of Art and art making. Thanks so much for this tutorial. With uline you have to shop in bulk and it gets really pricy if you're only shipping once in a while -plus you need storage for all these supplies. I think you can purchase mirror and picture boxes through U-Haul one at a time but I have no idea where to find those edge protectors in fewer amounts. If you hear of anywhere I'd love to know. Thanks again so much! I'm shipping a painting to the U.S. for the first time and am grateful for the tips!
You did sound a little bit like a robot, but! I have the understanding that you were making sure to “deliver “ the info simply and accurately. Good job👍
Great Video! Can you please tell me who you use for the post card and business cards with your artwork on it? They are such nice touch. I am just getting started and trying to get all my ducks in a row.
That's the risk I take...I wouldn't want the unnecessary cost and use of plastic to ship a painting. Rarely does a painting get damage and if it does I cover the cost.
Hi Lori, what a generous wealth of information. I am curious about your large canvas's and whether you build them or have them made? Thank you for your inspiration. After watching a couple of your video's, "have no fear" popped into my head. lol.
Wow this is awesome! Thanks so much for sharing 😊 but I must ask.... the edge protectors only seem to cover one side of the painting. Is it not important to cover the back side edges?
Hi grate informative vid Lori. Loving all you work and working my way through your content. So much helpful stuff to absorb. One question arose when I watched you protecting the painted surface before packaging is do you varnish your artwork. If so, do you have a vid on this. I assume its a must to aid longevity of painting and aid in cleaning it of dust etc over time. Great work. Julian
If your canvas is shallower than the one you boxed, are the edge protectors still a good idea? I'm thinking I'll have excess of the edge protector hanging over and not fitting as nice as yours
Lori, Thanx once again for helping me work out how to go from my spare room studio, to feeling confident to putting my work "out there"... one question, when u take ur work off the frame to ship it off to client, doesn't the paint crack or the texture paste 'ruin' if ur rolling it to send ????? Blessed Be U n ME !!!
You are so welcome! if you are using the flexible modeling paste Liquitex, no it won't crack if you roll it. Don't roll it really tight though. Golden brand does not have a specific type that says flexible and that's because their paste (in my opinion) is superior, so it won't crack and can be used on canvas.
Hi Lori, thank you so much for all of this valuable information. I'm wondering if you'd mind sharing the shipping broker you use? No worries if you're not comfortable sharing, Its just so intimidating when googling, so many options and not really sure where to start. I'm shipping from the Toronto area as well. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your expertise. 👍 Normally, if you were to ship your artwork without a frame, what sort of percentage discount do you offer your clients? [now that it costs less to ship]

Very interested to see how my paintings will come packed! Also to hear what you say about sending canvas unstreched. I was curiously going to ask u about that. I had a picture off Betty Krause/Franks. And it saved a load of money doing it like that. I have a local guy who finds restretching rather a novel break from his conventional framing! In due course if the money appears {!!} i will email you and ask about commissions. I was very struck by that last commission { hot colours and grafitti}. Best R
Hi Robert, I nearly panicked that your paintings haven't arrived yet, but I looked up the tracking number and see that they were detained in customs for a bit. They should be arriving shortly. Yes haha you got a sneak peek into how I wrap them. Oh, that's great you own a Betty Frank. She is such a lovely person, a great artist, and business woman. Yes of course whenever are ready for a commissioned piece you let me know. Yes, the Grafitti was a hit!! It was delivered to the clients today, hopefully, they will send a photo once they have had a chance to hang it. Best, Lori
Ah, packaging. The bane to my artist’s existence. Lori...how do you ship your BIG stretched paintings? I’ve never used a crate. Have you? Thoughts? I bought some telescoping boxes from U-line...packaged my 40” x40” paintings flat...put them in a box....and then was like...OMG these are heavy and awkward to carry. How’s a courier going to manage? Otherwise, yes i ship my large paintings in a U-line tube. My clients have no issue stretching at their destination. I love painting on panel too. So... wondering about crates. If i have to go that route... dear gawd...i’d rather just hand over my work to a professional shipping packager. Packaging takes forever for me. Thanks for your TH-cams. Just found you. I live in Cambridge, ON.
haha packaging is the absolutely worst more so for the bigs one. I pretty much do what I do in this video only like you say box heavy boxes from Uline and a larger size. Yep they weigh about 17-25 pounds once they are packaged but the carriers seem to be fine with it. If I can unstretch and roll for shipping I'm a happy artist. .
Thank you for sharing and your work is amazing . So do you already factor in shipping on the cost you list for sale price?? Never sure how to do this part .

How do you package your large (48"x60") un-stretched canvases?
Rolled in a tube or a long square box. If it's just one painting then I make sure to add one of corner protectors so that the box doesn't get bent.
@@lorimirabelliabstractartist thank you so much!
Yes you are correct.....Bulk. but for me I require bulk.
You did sound a little bit like a robot, but! I have the understanding that you were making sure to “deliver “ the info simply and accurately. Good job👍
haha always a learning curve. Thank you !
Great Video! Can you please tell me who you use for the post card and business cards with your artwork on it? They are such nice touch. I am just getting started and trying to get all my ducks in a row.
Vista print!! They are amazing!
Wonderful. What type of saw are you using. Thanks.
Jigsaw :)
What about the center you should put plexiglass on it to cover the center of the painting from being punctured in the middle by another object
That's the risk I take...I wouldn't want the unnecessary cost and use of plastic to ship a painting. Rarely does a painting get damage and if it does I cover the cost.
Saturday night and here I am watching you pack a painting - somehow it was more engrossing than anything on Netlfix! 😂 enjoyable to watch !
Haha that's Priceless😊 Thank you so much Gaya.
@@lorimirabelliabstractartist :) :) :)
Hi Lori, what a generous wealth of information. I am curious about your large canvas's and whether you build them or have them made? Thank you for your inspiration. After watching a couple of your video's, "have no fear" popped into my head. lol.
haha fear no lol
I had those large ones specially made for this project.
Wow this is awesome! Thanks so much for sharing 😊 but I must ask.... the edge protectors only seem to cover one side of the painting. Is it not important to cover the back side edges?
It’s about protecting the frame so that it doesn’t snap in shipping. The heavy duty cardboard is protective for the canvases.
@@lorimirabelliabstractartist ohhhh I see, thank you! 😊
😊
Hi grate informative vid Lori. Loving all you work and working my way through your content. So much helpful stuff to absorb. One question arose when I watched you protecting the painted surface before packaging is do you varnish your artwork. If so, do you have a vid on this. I assume its a must to aid longevity of painting and aid in cleaning it of dust etc over time. Great work. Julian
You are so welcome Julian. Yes I varnish my paintings but I haven't yet completed a video on this. At some point I will 😊
If your canvas is shallower than the one you boxed, are the edge protectors still a good idea? I'm thinking I'll have excess of the edge protector hanging over and not fitting as nice as yours
I appreciate you so much❤️
thank you so much 😊
Thank you so much for this video! Do you know if Glassine would work on oil paintings?
it's for all artwork...😊
Thank you so much! This info is really helpful?
Glad it was helpful! :)
Thanks for sharing your experience with us...very helpful! I'm curious, do you use a special tape that sticks to the glassine?
My pleasure ! And nope just regular packing taping works perfectly
Thanks!
No problem I shared that info in my other shipping video. I use Journey Freight
Thanks so much for your reply. I will check out the other video too!
No problem 😊
Thanks for sharing your expertise. 👍 Normally, if you were to ship your artwork without a frame, what sort of percentage discount do you offer your clients? [now that it costs less to ship]
I don't give a percentage discount I just reduce as to what I think it would cost to have it restretched. That's usually discussed with the client.
@@lorimirabelliabstractartist Sounds reasonable. Ok thanks.
No problem 😊
@@lorimirabelliabstractartist I do have one more question: is timing of your uploading on social media important? Is that something you also consider? Thanks,
Yep 100%.
Hi Lori, what size boxes are you using here? Which ones do you recommend? Are they 3" thickness or 4"? Thanks so much!
I just updated my shipping video and posted it today to answer this question for you .❤️
@@lorimirabelliabstractartist Thanks for getting back to me! Appreciate it so much! Thank you for sharing such wonderful information on your channel. Helps me so much as a fellow Canadian!
@@TCee93 my pleasure I hope the new video I posted on shipping helped. Also my apologies for the sound quality I attached my mic in the wrong area and it was making noticed when I moved about.
Best, Lori
@@lorimirabelliabstractartist Thx. Best R
One more question! Do you put a "certificate of authenticity" card when you ship?
I don't ....I know some artists do.
Where did you get your box from? Im having a hard tome finding boxes that are reasonably prices for shipping my 24X14 frame.
I make my own boxes to fit my paintings
If I can unstretch and roll for shipping I'm a happy artist. .
@@lorimirabelliabstractartist thank you!
Thank you for sharing and your work is amazing . So do you already factor in shipping on the cost you list for sale price?? Never sure how to do this part .
Yes and no.....I'm trying to grow my business still and tap into the USA when I say free shipping it really is free shipping.
