Think before marine talking to korone, korone has already talked to lamy and botan quite a bit. Marine pushed korone to talk more to nene and polka which they are the 2 in gen 5 korone doesnt interact as much.

To Okayu, the one who knows Korone better than anyone else besides her own parents, there's absolutely no substitute for the real deal. They're around each other so much that ANY deviation from Korone's voice will be picked up by the cat's ears.

I don't think saying that someone is down-to-Earth rather than a snob is back-handed.
She has an interesting way with words.
Good effort from Lamy, but I am kinda with Okayu on this. Korone's, "OKAYU~~~" sounds much like a puppy who's howling for joy after she saw her owner come home. It just radiates pure, happy energy.
"Not even close" well, yeah. If someone immatates your wife, they aren't gonna have all of the subtle speech tics down
I like the idea that in a room full of Hololive Members, Okayu is in the center of all of them telling them to THINK as they all listen to Lamy's impression.

Really? I thought the opposite. The accent was there, but the voice was way off.
I guess the more you listen to someone's voice the better you know it, sometimes I see people in the comments saying that X's imitation of Okayu was quite good but it usually just sounds like a deep voice to me

I watched far too many clips (and repeated watching those same clips again cuz Okakoro clips are diabetes) of Korone going "Okayu~ Okayu~" that I kinda understand what Okayu means.
Korone's "Okayu" have this child-like joy and deep affection quality to it. Even when Korone's not shouting it, she always radiates this aura of love and affection when mentioning Okayu's name.
While Lamy may have got down the voice (imo at least), she couldn't capture the child-like joy and affection that Korone have. In fact, she sounded almost annoyed when saying "Okayu". Like she don't want to say it but for whatever reason have to.
And, if you're trying to impersonate Korone, you can't sound as if you're annoyed by the one thing she loves the most.

Korone, even when someone fails at an impression of you it’s still cute.
The only thing left for Okayu and Korone to do (probably) is live together. I'm pretty sure Okayu has listened to Korone's voice for years there's no way she'd mistake Korone's voice even if someone else tries to imitate it. I think it's obvious she wasn't gonna think it was a good imitation xD (though it's quite good, anyway)

Hearing someone else imitate the way Korone talks (and surprisingly well) is what I needed to finally understand what Korone's weird "accent" actually is compared to normal Japanese.
