I'm a US voter for New York state living in England, this video is really useful and helped me print and complete the ballot with the return envelopes. I didn't know how to fold the ballot paper until seeing the video to fit in in the envelope.
Thank you. This is very useful indeed. I wish you had included a few more instructions. On the ballot, there is circle inside each candidate's box. Do you fill the circle with Black/Blue ink or make a tick mark or an X inside the circle? My ballot had a second page which was mostly blank with an entry saying OFFICIAL FEDERAL BALLOT for the General Election, etc. and the names of the Election Commissioners. Should that page be returned with the ballot or is it the back page of the ballot paper?
Thanks for your comment and question. That page should be returned with the ballot or printed on the back of the ballot if you've printed on both sides of the paper.
Thanks very much, this video turned what would have undoubtedly been a frustrating 2 hours into a quick origami project. The trick at 2:05 is super. :D Great video.
Thanks for this! The trick/problem is that the forms are designed for US 8½"x11" paper, whereas many folks overseas will only have access to the slightly narrower A4 size. For most things, the difference is negligible, but for the outer postal envelope for the US ballot, the top and bottom flaps don't quite meet if you try to follow the dotted lines exactly. Using the inner envelope as a guide for the last two folds is just enough to get everything to seal up. Returning the ballot was easier when the NY voting boards sent voting materials out by snail mail, but I don't suppose they'll ever go back to that.
Hi. I’m trying to vote from the UK. The ballot I printed is a very odd size. The envelopes seem fine. I’ve trying many different ways and none look right
Don't worry about the ballot being an odd size -- unless it is printing too small for you to fill in your choices. As long as it is readable it doesn't matter that it may not fill up an A4 page. Thank you so much for this! I am also a US voter for New York state living in Germany, and this video was exactly what I needed to figure this out!
Glad it was helpful!

Yes, the different paper sizes can be a challenge, but thanks for your tip on using the inner envelope as a guide. That's useful.
