Your videos are awesome, love these little hives, definitely going to make a bunch as it’s winter here in Australia so it’s perfect timing, the cost of hives here is very expensive , I,m a big believer in diy and saving money when there is no need to spend when you can make simple thing like these little hives, thank you for sharing, just what I needed, cheers. 👍
Hopefully you will get a good Queen out of your split, they are off to a good start on there comb building I still have not started my comfort hive. I have different hives building comb, and the boxes done. But I am remodeling our bathroom and I work nights. Not enough time right now. God bless!
Hey Brady, great videos! I'm in the process of making a Comfort hive and I have one question about the bamboo skewers: I've always used Langstroth hives, how do you get the bees to start building comb on the skewers without foundation or a starter strips?

Charles, there never seems to be enough time. And the window for building up colonies is just too short lol.

Thanks for the up-date
So when you started this, the shim was supposed to coax the existing colony to build comb and move up into it. Did that ever actually happen?
