- Here's an early look at Gunman Contracts Standalone! A realistic VR FPS coming to Steam in early access next year. In this demo, I show you the Gunman Contracts lobby area along with a stairs contract that looks strikingly similar to the stairs from John Wick 4.

Played this mod a ton, it’s better than most VR developed full games.
Yeah it's crazy what passion vs. greed looks like
mostly cause its built off of some of the best physics in vr, no offense the dev is a great dev but the standalone version of the mod looks a little rough aroudn the edges

@@TNMPlayer one of the only AAA vr games otu there at that, and most of the other AAA vr games don't get the budget or manpower their flat screen games get
It kinda makes you question Valve's decision to make the combat in Half Life Alyx slow paced with enemies that are bullet sponges when Gunman Contracts shows that all you have to do is take HLA's gunplay and give the enemies realistic health values to make it feel so much better.
This looks fantastic! The attention to detail is great, from the stumbling characters to the echo of the gunshots. This is the FPS VR has needed for a while now. I agree with you on manual loading of weapons. I wish more games would at least have it as an optional setting.

Modders are programmers and games are programs so whats your point
Man, I have one arm, I miss VR so much since my accident last year, vr creators just don’t make games for one armed people (alyx aside). They should make it so that you can hold the grip and it instantly makes your gun disappear and turns into a “grab”. So that way people with one arm/controller could run up to someone, press the grip button to grab someone without having to put a gun away and then throw an enemy down, the second they let go of the grip button your gun comes back so you could shoot etc.
As for reloading, make it so that you hold a button to lock the slide and you push the gun forward to cock it instead of pulling the slide back.
So you could do like: shoot, run out of ammo, double press “b” to eject mag, a spare mag floats by the gun, you slam your hand down onto the magazine, hold “b” to lock the slide, push the gun forward then let go of “b” to release the slide.
That way interactions/grip is on one button, reloading is on another button, then you have one spare for other features as well as a stick click button (laser on/off?).
Wish I could get developers to add this, so many one armed people wanting to play vr :(
Basically just give it several levels of "immersion" to accommodate disabilities. Been a huge debate in real life, but in VR it's also an issue
I think its pretty sick that a mod is becoming a standalone game. hopefully it has flatscreen and vr multiplayer

Not the first time a full FPS game came out of a mod for a Half-Life game. Counter Strike started as mod for Half-Life too.

The reloading reminding me of the original Ghost Recon. Bullets has a proper trajectory which added an extra level of skill and enjoyment, you learned how high or low you needed to fire relative to the distance to your target as well as compensate sideways when leaning. I was gutted that they removed that in subsequent games. The more skill required around just pulling the trigger, the better in my opinion, makes you feel much more involved in the game.

When i first heard about this i wrote it off because I assumed a mod developer wouldn't be able to incorporate physics on par with half life without their framework, but this looks absolutely amazing! Definitely going to pick this up on release, the mods were some of the best feeling vr content ever made and this looks like a very natural evolution

as someone who plays alyx on the quest i think not only would it be awesome to see this game on the quest store but also really profitable for the developers would love to see that on the store without needing to use virtual desktop to play it

I can definitely see they took some pointers or ideas from pavlov from the gun range to the little tactical shooting area. Auper neat how they added in customizing the color of your guns as well. I cant wait until this comes out.

I hope he nails the technical part of gun handling in VR, like stabilization and calibration (It looks vey shaky in your footage) because these things can make or break a VR shooter.

Hey Mike, have you ever tried H3VR? It's more of a sandbox (depends on which levels are played) than a game, but there's some real fun stuff to play with in there. Ever struck a match in vr? reloaded shells into a shotgun? all physics based. I glanced through your video's list, and i couldn't find it just now... hence the question. I'm pretty sure you are aware of Anton Hand's lovely Sosigs (that bleed mustard when shot).
I'd really like a VR game that has the realisticness of H3VR with co-op gameplay.

i want to see like hostage-rescue and some stealth elements. make this game a base/engine for tons of other actual games to be built inside of. could be awesome for SWAT style gameplay as well as just all-out insanity john wick style stuff like we're seeing so far.

Looks incredibly fun. I hope there will be full left-handed support this time around. I could use left-handed mode with the alternate gun model in the original contracts, but it also swapped my movement sticks which was infuriating; I just want to hold firearms with my left hand while keeping the same controls, haha.

holy that looks gooood, i wanna say i laughed/splurted out my coffee when you said "this ones fully auto, in which it was actually semi auto. full auto would be you holding the trigger and the gun firing as long as you hold it, semi auto meaning one pull one shot. lil gun fact of the day

The gun wobbles, but I'm sure they'll fix that in the final release, because this game looks awesome in VR and Flatscreen

The mods are so replayable & I’m still playing them till this day. I can’t believe no one else has really tried to do John Wick style game like this. We’ve got so many multiplayer shooters but nothing like this.

Yep. Buying. As soon as it goes up on steam I’m getting this. Don’t care the price, this looks like the exact VR shooter I’ve been waiting for ever since VR started getting popular. This is the exact level of detail I love mixed with the mission style I absolutely adore. The interactivity with the NPCs is also perfect

Rag-dolls are nice and the fact that the enemies have to manually reload is also nice.
On the other hand, there are no facial animations and the enemies have Stormtrooper-level bad aim, I think they should have a better chance of killing the player.

The catacombs from 2 would be a good one. Let me walk through and stage weapons at certain points, complete the objective, and fight back through with my stuff still where I placed it.
