    We now have two of this exact item, the Instant Pot Vortex 6 Qt. Air Fryer th-cam.com/users/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB . The friend just had a second one delivered a few days ago so we could take it to our lake house. We have even given a couple as gifts. And we use ours regularly. It is a killer for warming up leftovers. It is killer for warming up fries when you bring them home from the fast food place. It is killer for cooking a lot of things. It does its job fast and it does it well. This is simply one of the best items that you will ever spend money on for preparing food. And, its hard to imagine someone making one that's better than the Instant Pot Vortex.

    Halogen oven vs Air Fryer but the Halogen oven is pretty much the original air fryer 😂

  • @SkyBlueNeil
    @SkyBlueNeil ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Halogen is best because you can see the food cook without opening it so you can stop cooking early if needed. They both produce heat and blow it with a fan so do the same job, Halogen is a lot cheaper, I've had mine 2 years and it's still got the original bulb in, it can be replaced if needed, I got a spare one with it, if the Air fryer element goes is that replaceable??

      If you look closely, most of air fryer elements are re-purposed spiral stove top elements. So yes they can be replaced very cheaply, and unlikely to burn out.

      And glass is much healthier than plastic even if it’s BPA free it still may contain polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and phthalates from the non stick coating and plastic.

    I figured out if you give one of the halogen units which has a burned out bulb to someone who burns their food a lot they are set. It still heats but slower and without the drying effect of the halogen bulb.

    I'm on my 3rd halogen oven. The first two lasted between 3-4 years before they died. I've been waiting for my current oven to die, but it keeps working. I think it's been 12-13 years now. I bought a backup when it was on sale, but it's been sitting on the shelf. I might consider an air fryer when my backup oven dies.

    Halogen element is prone to burnout or the glass bulb cracking when handling/cleaning; happened to me on two air oven designs…the glass oven/ bucket is also completely unwieldy and can be dangerous when handling, especially around kids, also difficult to clean and will easily crack if it slips while scrubbing…happened to me as well…the air fryer is the needed design improvement, although smaller and bit more expensive…however the ease of use and handling makes it convenient to use every day…while I use to dread using the glass halogen air oven; just not easy, safe,convenient to use nor clean; unless you’re a very careful person

      I had an air fryer like the one here and hated it. Couldn't see your food, everything so compact with difficult access when putting the food in and out. I think the color being all black made it worse. It bothered my mental health to be honest. I felt so restricted. The halogen can be dangerous when handling but the pros far outweigh the cons. I can cook a whole chicken, Any kind of steak (Perfection) all while cooking the veggies at the same time. I can see the food cooking. It also allows you to be creative with how you cook in cooking multiple foods all at the same time.

      I love my halogen oven. Andrew James. Just replaced old with new after I don't know how many years. Has an attached lid which can be raised to cook turkey so no finding a place to put a take off hot lid. Done cakes, duck, salmon , pizza, own chunky chips, chicken, sausage,roast vegetables and more. Just wipe the inside of the bowl and underside the top with a soapy cloth then with just a damp cloth. I wash the glass bowl in a plastic washing up bowl if I cook something really messy. The added bonus is being able to watch what's cooking. It's ideal for a small family. As with everything new it's needs a bit of practice with different ingredients. The customer service was great when we needed them once in the past. Treat it with care and the bulb-element lasts years. The part is replaceable anyway.

      After some practice, I have been able to roast a whole chicken in my old halogen counter top oven. However, I learned a small chicken is best and I started with the back side up for half the time before turning it breast side up. Also, stuffing it is a mistake (unlike in a conventional oven) as the stuffing will not cook properly, so I only season the inside and stick a few pieces of rosemary and half a lemon in it. But to be honest, I too use mine mostly for warming plates (when the oven is used for baking/roasting) or keeping things warm. Fish sticks etc, I spray well with oil and cook then in the halogen oven...works well.

      From a wattage point of view, most halogen ovens use just 1200-1400W of power, whereas standard ovens are around 2500W, so straightaway you can see why the halogen is going to save you money.
      Air fryers use between 800 Watts and 2000 Watts depending on brand. Halogen ovens are around £45 and a ninja air is over £300
