I would check out Kevin Costner Directing Debut in 1990 Dances With Wolves. If you haven’t already. It’s a masterpiece. 7 academy awards including best picture beating out Scorsese and goodfellas. It is credited as a leading influence for the revitalization of the Western genre of filmmaking in Hollywood. In 2007, Dances with Wolves was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Worth the 3 hour watch or even better the 4 hour extended. This horizon series will be a big hit if all 4 come out to finish the story
@@NeekoWatchesMovies it’s incredible to think that movie cost $22 million in total to make and $3 million of it was Costner own money again. Incredible it was his first job directing as well. It’s a history lesson. I would be comfortable this shown in late grade schools in the United States
Apparently, Netflix is in talks to acquire the two Horizon movies and then fund chapters 3 & 4 with the possibility of a miniseries. Costner has sunk a lot of his own money into Chapters 1 & 2. Chapter 2 will not be released in theaters yet if ever.
Its a real shame that this movie has failed. I love Kevin Costners Westerns. This was clearly the FIRST CHAPTER of a four part saga. The first chapter sets up the rest of the story. I was looking forward to this whole saga
$11 million first weekend and second weekend almost doubled.. so He needs 80 million to break even for Part One. It's close. He won't lose the farm. And give it another month, for Part Two and I think he will make it.
I dont care what people think but i loved chapter one and i cant wait for chapter two, chapter three and chapter four i cant wait. This is a 11 hour epic masterpiece released in 4 chapters. Its one movie told over 4 chapters. I cant wait....i hate the tv show view cuz why do we have movies at all then but i really loved it. Its more a John Ford movie than a Sergio Leone movie.
I’ve seen a lot of mixed reactions to this movie. It sounds like the other parts are gonna make it or break it. I’m hoping for the best cuz I see the potential
One of the worst films that I've ever seen. So many characters. At one point I said to myself "If they introduce another character, I'm walking out!" None of the characters I cared anything about. I couldn't tell who the bad guys were, who the good guys were. Costner doesn't show up until 2 hours into the movie, it seems, and his character was boring and unlikable. I didn't know what the goals of the characters were, what the point of the story was. All of the actors had brand new clothes on that looked like they pulled them straight out of the dressing room closet. The women all had perfectly sculpted eyebrows. The Chief hsd manicured nails and one of the cowboys had veneers! It was such a lousy film. Really disappointing.
