Kacang Pool come from Arab word of Al-Foul means broad beans. In Korea it is called 넓은 콩. The smokey comes from the wok use to fry the lontong not "salai"

Salai means grilled with fire. For example like beef jerky. As far as I know there's no malay word for smoky or wok hey taste. Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong.

@kepala kentang to be honest I never heard of rasa Salai or rasa asap in Malay cooking. Thinking back I think I heard of bau arang or rasa arang. Now thinking deeper I think I heard of perisa daging salai. Hahaha anyway I will take note of rasa Salai and rasa asap. Thanks.

    # Kacang foul.. aka kidney/fava beans, in most Arabic countries is a staple dish for breakfast/dinner, each country have thier own twist to it and eaten with different verities of breads, the toast bread is a Malaysian simpler inovative version in exchange for the more complicated by territorial varieties/styles of the Arabian breads to duplicate.

Kacang pool is Malay translation of foul medammas bean. Phool or pool is Foul or sometimes it's Ful. The mispronouncing of Foul has become an accepted name for the dish. Foul medammas is Egyptian origin dish brought in by Arabs to this region centuries ago.

Kacang Pool or Kacang Phool is the Malay interpretation of Foul Mudammas, a Middle Eastern dish of stewed broad or fava beans. Foul Mudammas is most commonly served as breakfast with some pitas, think hummus, but with fava beans. Kacang Pool however is served as more of a lunch/dinner dish.
‘Kacang Pool’ refers to the fava beans. For reference, Kacang = Nuts and Pool = Foul or Ful.

"Sup kacang pool" is actually a dish from Arabia. First introduced in Johor Bahru around the late 90s and early 2000s. It was quite viral at that time even though social media was not yet widespread. Viral only through the stories of acquaintances who have tried, and some promote it in the "Kampong" chat room on MSN chat. 😁

Kacang Pool is basically Foul Beans (Broad Beans). Malays pronounced it as "pool" which was actual "foul". This dish is actually a Middle Eastern dish. And it is not from Malaysia or Johor Bahru.

Chu Bro, I think Kachang Pool means Satay Kachang Sauce (Peanuts not Beans) Mixed with other ingredients such as what the lady menioned Chopped Peanuts, Beef, Onion, Egg & Lime in a Bowl & Mixed it like a Pool. Kachang in Malay word means (Peanut) & Pool as in English word means small puddle or pond just like the Peanut sauce in a Bowl. This food is very rich & fattening. lol However, each time I see your videos enjoying the food, it makes my day & full of Hunger! Bon A Petite!
