This is a really good recording, but in my opinion there could have been a lot more contrast in the first mvt., especially with dynamics and overall phrasing.
In my opinion: they were able to bring out the harmonies, and the articulation of each individual note was good. I'm only being this critical because I played this, not nearly as well, mind you, which is partly why I believe it to be a good recording. I just wish there was more musical direction.
This is first quartet I listen to. Best firm of classical music.

So, if there could have been so many changes in your opinion, what does it make it a "really good recording"?

I think we could all learn a lot from the string quartets of Mahler, Wagner, Offenbach, Leoncavallo and Quilter.
Mahler did compose a piano quartet mind you.
A young quartet that I feel plays this very well. th-cam.com/video/qexFgJtUUb8/w-d-xo.html
This is nice, though my taste is generally for the period instrument style.
