Casey, after watching many of your videos, I've been so inspired that I've purchased an old Ford F150 4x4 truck and started planning my adventures. Just two weeks ago I did my first solo camp; no back country or dispersed camping yet but, for me, that was a milestone moment. Thank you for sharing your experiences here. Lots of love from a Southern California city girl.
That’s so awesome to hear my friend. Glad you made it out for your ice breaker trip. I always encourage people to keep it simple at first. Do shorter trips closer to town or to camping areas the have other people. As you get more comfortable out there you will start venturing further into more remote areas. But it’s always great to get out there, no matter where you go! Cheers. Have fun exploring!
Good for you Suasana. You have more guts than most men. I wish you well. If you ever have any questions Casey is a good person to ask. Regards from Ody Slim
@@OdySlim Thanks!. I don't really have videos of my road trips as I'm more into photography than "videography" but after watching everyone on here, I'm leaning more and more towards videotaping some or all of my trips (or at least making slideshows of my pictures). Hope to put some vids up in the near future. Thanks for the support!
What a great trip! Like you said, getting stuck for a bit, is part of the adventure. Don seems like a great bloke to share the experience with. Thanks for sharing your videos. See you on the next one👍🇭🇲
Casey: I’ve mentioned this to you before in comments on other videos, but I’ll say it again: you have got to get a ground anchor to have with you out on those flat middy treeless stretches. This is especially true when you are exploring alone. They are really cheap insurance for situations where you need to winch and don’t have a winch anchor point. The ground anchor is like a little plow that digs down as you pull on it and it allows you to winch out anywhere, even if no trees. The other essential lightweight inexpensive item to have is a second 100 foot length of Dyneema synthetic winch line you can use as a winch extension. Good luck and be safe out there!
Awesome video and adventure, Thanks to you and ur friend for taking us along. Thanks again for the videos, plz, keep them coming? Eric Sulen, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Thank you my friend. Glad you appreciate them. A lot of work goes into creating the long trip videos. And TH-cam’s system doesn’t really reward you for long videos. But as long as there are those of you that enjoy them, I’ll keep making them!
Nothing against your operator transitions learning how to be an operator but I love more of your camping and overlanding experiences I'm glad to see you back at it
Oh yeah. Shooting is a part of my life that I just decided to throw a little bit of out there on my channel but the overlanding is never going away! I have two more trips filmed that I’m just working on editing. I’ve been doing a bit of traveling the last month but I’ll be back out for another Jeep trip next weekend. It’s finally starting to dry out around here!
@@CoyoteWorks01 awesome buddy I am extremely looking forward to it . I was in Iraq for almost 5 years as an operator and nothing against it but I'd rather watch you over land LOL you're so much better at your camping techniques and it's awesome you're good at your skill to thought I'd throw that in there.
@bubba bug wasn't trying to downplay Casey's attempt to entertain people with his operating skills I'm more interested in his camping and overlanding skills. If it came across as being prudent I apologize but I thoroughly enjoyed his videos.
Casey, I have to say that, at this point, this is my favorite video on your channel. The longer ones draw me further into the experience. Being flexible in changing circumstances, as you are, is such a great model for all of us. Also, was glad to see full meals made in camp. Your windbreak of limbs was something new to me. Appreciate it. Looking forward to your next adventure!
Thank you. Really appreciate hearing that. There is so much work that goes into those long videos that It’s really nice to hear you appreciate and enjoy them. Cheers!
I love watching your stuff. Entertaining and super informative. That Rubicon really handles the backroads great. Traction boards and a Juniper tree saved the day 😊👍
Wow, a Rubicon and a Raptor, about the two most capable factory 4wd's you can buy, both with lockers and good tires, stuck up to their axles and virtually helpless. Just goes to show you how a little bit of deep mud (or snow) can stop you cold. Even in an area that you're very familiar traveling in. Good thing you weren't out there by yourself. Could have been a serious situation. Glad to see you got out though. Great video. Excellent learning experience for me.
For sure! We knew we were pushing the limits as we got deeper into that wetter area. But at a certain point we didn’t have the option to turn around. And actually when we got stuck is when we came to the first place it seemed like we might be able to turn around and we were in the process of turning around when Don got stuck. Then I got my Jeep stuck trying to snatch him out! Lol.
This video brought me back to my days off offroading in the nineties👍So professional, so we'll done, I can't wait for more to come📽️Wish I were there 🌵
Thanks Casey, You have a good Partner there. I sure enjoyed it as it's Fascinating & Fun to watch. Gary McDaniel There was a lot of mud! I spent 45 minutes at the Prineville car wash blasting it off. I did like the color as I always wanted a Camo truck! ;-)

Casey; That was the best off road driving I have ever seen. Thank you for taking me along. Best of luck with the new shooting videos, we have a lot to learn about new skills and gear. Orlando
Good Indicator, it's TIME! Time to equip the Rubi with a Winch.. Nice Job finding such an awesome Camp... BTW, I've been stuck in the Eastern Oregon High Desert before, no Trees, had to bury My Spare as an Anchor.. Great Times! :D

I totally agree with you 100% on packing a weapon whenever venturing on some of the most remote places. Even with a friend along or most especially when venturing alone. Love your videos, I am really glad I ran into your channel. Good luck on your future adventures and please be safe out there. Got your self a new subcriber here.
I used to have a winch on my Suburban till someone stole it along with a lot of other things. I would suggest that you carry a mud/sand anchor for those situations that you had with the raptor getting stuck. the anchor is a wonderful piece of equipment to have with a winch. Enjoy your videos. The wife has gotten to see some of the Oregon outback through your videos. I am hoping that the idiots in the Oregon Legislator get smart enough to not stop the traveling through the desert and other scenic and historic areas of the state.
That turned into a nice little camping trip! As you said, you go out with a plan and then you adapt to the conditions and end up having a great time doing something entirely different and just as much fun. Although I do hate getting stuck in mud! lol
Spring is a great time to explore Central and SE Oregon. We just returned from a weekend at Hart Mt NWR. BLM roads from rocky to muddy. Found one snow drift and spent 1.5 hours digging rig out. Lucky for me there was a huge rock near by to attach strap and used come a long to pull rig out after digging snow out from under rig. No use fighting high centered, stuck until snow removed. Have fun and bee safe.
Amazing film my friend!! I've said it before, but it bears repeating; your videos keep getting better and better. This trip was quite the adventure. Even managed to get your Jeep stuck! Great recovery footage. That landscape is awesome, we dont have anything like that on the east coast. Love your channel man.
Having challenges on the trail definitely helps us grow and gain experience. After a vehicle burning down out in the middle of the desert, a little mud doesn't seem so bad. Glad you guys worked it out though. Good times.
Hey Boet Thanks for sharing your latest adventure. What a fantastic daybreak. Looked amazing and that view. Wow. You definitely would not want to have been out there alone getting bogged down. Could you imagine what it would have been like for those guys with the horse and carts. Looking forward to the next one Mark
Nice adventure. Love American made Lodge Cast Iron, nothing better to cook on. We've been giving it the last year for wedding gifts to keep the tradition going with the next generation. Everyone loves it. Texas and steaks, they know how to do it right. We stopped in Abilene, TX during our recent Epic Adventure (PA to Moab, UT for the Easter Jeep Safari), so we had to have steaks. Cooked over a mesquite wood fire to perfection. May have been the best steak I've ever eaten. Safe Travels Brother and God Bless!
Great trip so far - looking forward to watching the rest. On recovering the Raptor you need to hit a snatch (stretchy style) strap at 5-10 mph when faced with a heavier vehicle. I sized my strap to be able to hit it at 15. That will generate FAR more force than a little bump of course. Also, safety first when something stressful is going on. When both vehicles were stuck, I could tell you were off your game due to the stress as you left your Jeep in reverse at 18:10 and were out walking around while it slowly buried itself. Would have sucked to have the A/C compressor kick on and the engine'd idle speed increase at that moment!! Carry on
Great looking country. Reminds me of the area north and west of Taos and around the Jicarilla Reservation. Lots of deer around the latter; some really big ones too. The area you were in looks like great mule deer habitat. Do you ever see many mulies there? I also love camping in PJ/sage brush country as there is something that adds to the adventure. I think it’s the isolation and lonely expanses. Take care and keep the great videos coming!
Another great video, thanks for the inspiration. I would love to see a video on what is allowed and prohibited on federal lands. Your archeological finds that you "leave in place" is a good testament to you stewardship of the land. I think it would be most instructive to your subscribers if you could speak to this aspect of your adventures. Looking forward to your next video!
Thanks for another excellent video. I recognize the roads you are traveling and I believe the camp gear you stumbled upon belong to a group that helps troubled youths. They setup throughout that area.
Mike Buddrius Exactly! I spoke to the kids as we saw them hiking by. They were awesome! So glad to see young people working things out and get right with themselves. Thank you!
Thanks my friend. Yeah we were definitely pushing it a bit on this trip. I usually take a bit of a break in the spring for those few weeks after the ground thaws and its muddy. But this year we just had such a long period of wet, muddy conditions that I couldn’t wait any longer to get back out there!
@@CoyoteWorks01 I know the feeling. But living here in Arizona, I can hit the sonoran desert in the winter, and mogollon rim in the pine trees during the summer. Love your vids!!! Thanks...
Another great adventure! Thanks for taking us along. Being from so. Utah and now living in western washington I truly miss the wide open desert! Thanks again!
Great video as usual, maybe one of the better ones. It's good to see my trips aren't the only ones that go a little 'south' sometimes, and you're right you just have to roll with it. I drove log truck for 40+ years here in the great NW, you ain't stuck until you get 40 tons stuck in the mud. Lol Get that winch. Look'n forward to the next adventure.
I happened to drive an off highway truck in an open pit mine and slid off the road, empty. (Sticker in truck said gross weight 590,000 lbs). A D 9 dozer was what pulled me out.
I don't think most people understand what the soil does out there when it's wet. We were making our way to camp on a ridge overlooking priest hole this weekend and with all the rain the road was like a skating rink. One day of sun later and when we left it was like concrete. It was actually very impressive that you guys got those rigs out of that situation. Also, I have been using an adjust-a-grill for about 8 years and I can't imagine anything better for an over-the-fire grill, but I use mine upside down from the way that was shown in this video because the ridge is taller around the edges and I figured stuff is less likely to roll off. Not sure which way is recommended. Another awesome video as usual. I'm planning on heading out to that same country on the next trip but I think I'll wait for it to dry out just a bit ;)
Having a Yamaha TW 200 along with you might be useful. Those things can go places you wouldn't imagine. They're light and can be strapped to almost any vehicle.
The envy I feel, as a Brit, where every piece of land, literally every square foot of my country is owned by someone or some organisation - there is literally nowhere to do overland, car camping and backcountry......but I love watching you guys! Please keep this coming and if you have any info on what is possible in Europe?

Ha! Yeah I bet that can be a challenge getting a logging truck unstuck!
I happened to drive an off highway truck in an open pit mine and slid off the road, empty. (Sticker in truck said gross weight 590,000 lbs). A D 9 dozer was what pulled me out.
This is what I want to do! Thanks for the inspiration.
35 people disliked the video, only because they wished you put out more videos.
I hope you’re right my friend! Cheers!
Thank you! Great Video!!! I am also a owner of an Jeep Rubicon Recon. Diesel, 200 PS. I am living in Austria !!!
Oh man you are a lucky one. I can’t tell you how much I wish we had the diesel versions over here.
Great Video and Thanks!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed!
Casey, your channel is way past A W E S O M E 🤠👍🏼
Great video you guys...
Don your hysterical. Great coffee....👍👍👏👏
Ha! For sure. Don is a lot of fun out there!
John Doe I put an entire 2nd battery system in my truck just to run that coffee maker! Lol
@@Oregun A man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do!!
So what if you get stuck, just put on another pot of coffee!!
Drew Toner 👍👍😂😂
Jeremy Tomaras I’ll try the adjust-a-grill like that next time, thanks! Have fun out there!
Having a Yamaha TW 200 along with you might be useful. Those things can go places you wouldn't imagine. They're light and can be strapped to almost any vehicle.
That wouldn’t be a bad idea!
Really Enjoyed this
Awesome Video. Please keep them coming. Greetings from Fred from Germany Europe. 👍
Another great video adventure. Hoping to see you at Overland West next month.
Thanks Don. I don’t think I’ll make Overland West but I will be at Northwest Overland.
Another great trip, from the kiwi down under.
The envy I feel, as a Brit, where every piece of land, literally every square foot of my country is owned by someone or some organisation - there is literally nowhere to do overland, car camping and backcountry......but I love watching you guys! Please keep this coming and if you have any info on what is possible in Europe?
My two favorite vehicles. I have a Recon and would love a Raptor.
I agree. After this trip I’m considering getting a raptor as a second vehicle!
I like this trip keep up the good work I really enjoy watching your videos :)
Thanks my friend. Appreciate hearing that!

Trail blazing Coyote style. Love it!
Super video Casey. I love the high desert. I spent the day hiking amidst the junipers of southern Utah. I carried my SGL21-61 and a day pack.
