I think the intention for the TSA pocket is to stash your phone, passport, ticket, or pocket things so you can get through security quickly and reorganize later. I have the duffel and like it for weekend trips in a car, but I'd never fly with it. It's too heavy to carry through an airport over one shoulder.
What @jillapalooza said. I thought it was a pocket-reliever too. And also ditto on never carrying a duffel through the airport. Or, using a duffel period. Not my jam. :-)
So glad to hear they’ve updated their material! That TSA pocket is actually a pocket dump to empty what’s in your pockets or on your body so you can cruise thru security and then put those items back in your pockets once you’re thru.
I love my OG 35L Pakt duffle and still rocking it. I never do air travel with it though because it's a pain to shoulder carry it fully stuffed, but great when it goes trunk of my car -> destination. Laptop protection design has come in clutch this one time when it did one too many barrel rolls...
Idk....when I travel at least to Asia, I always have 1 XL empty suitcase, 1 Osprey fairview, and 1 random empty duffel bag. Why? So I can buy lots of snacks and souvenirs and stuff it in the suitcase and if there's any extra then stuff it in the empty duffel bag :D Although seeing this has me convinced I need to upgrade my duffel. (but when traveling to other places other than Asia then I only bring the Osprey XD )
I use a Cotopaxi Allpa 42 as my preferred big bag. It came with a duffle strap. I thought it was silly, but I find myself using it when I don’t expect to walk far. Around the airport or in and out of the car, duffle mode is more convenient.
Have the 28L and love it. Perfect for 3-5 day business trips. Functionality is excellent. Wouldn’t want to try the 35L, as it would be too heavy to lug around. Give me a backpack for that.
It's a great design. But I am not carrying 35L on my shoulder. And both the 35L and 28L are way too long to be personal items on United (17" limit). If they made a shorter version of the 28L, it would be my new personal item!
I'd like to see a truly waterproof lineup review. Im talking like IP Rated bags, kind of niche but I'm looking for one and I need the best bag review channel (you) for my decision making haha
How about using the Firo T22 as your personal ítem bag and this duffel as your carry-on ? That sounds the easiest way to bring more volume without checking a luggage and not having 2 backpacks (Firo T22 and Tomtoc T66 in my case) which is not very practical to manage (I have done one in front and one on my back and that sucks). I already have the Firo T22 and am looking forward using it as my personal item bag. How about this Aaron ?
@@Nomads.Nation I get your point, and may be I wouldn't neither but that means not using the Firo T22 to travel with... In this case the only backpack solution that sums up a carry-on and a personal item is the Pack 45 and the Pakt everyday 15L. I don't see any "dual bags" offer. Do you ?
@@GP-rq4we if you don't want to use a suitcase then the duffel + backpack combo could work very well! You''ll have to carry the duffel in hand-mode most of the time, but it could totally work. The Fyro T22 can compress in a larger bag a bit but its not a super compressible bag, so keep that in mind. Ultimately it was designed to pair with a suitcase or be one-bagged by itself OR use a big sling in the front + all your clothes in the T22 (that's what I do!)
I like the organization and the middle pocket for the laptop. It looks good, but I'm not convinced about the practicality of such a bag. I can't see myself traveling with this bag simply because it would be too heavy: I'm not sure it would be healthy for your back, and carrying it in your hand takes away some freedom of movement and doesn't give you the luxury of somehow forgetting it's there. And if I'm going with luggage, I'd rather have a smaller backpack to go with it. I think I associate a duffel with the gym and that's it.
Aaron! Awesome channel man, super helpful stuff, subbed. Got a question for you: I’ve searched all over the place online and can’t seem to find an answer for my niche problem. I’m a traveling consultant and I’m on the road every other week. I bring my Xbox series X with me to game with my college buddies to keep in touch. Ultimately, I’m looking for a backpack that is extremely protective and durable enough to keep my Xbox series X safe on my long car rides and flights (I use a carry on roller for my clothes and a backpack for my Xbox, laptop, and dopp kit.) I also want this backpack to be versatile enough as an EDC work bag, not just for carrying an Xbox. Preferably 25-30L. So, my question…would you happen to know of the backpack I’m looking for? You’re the expert my man, so I gotta ask you!!! Thank you bro🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I gotta say I’m really intrigued by the Mous extreme commuter, but a bit turned off by the weight. Price is ok, but I don’t wanna go over $300…thoughts?
thanks so much! no idea what to recommend here. Maybe check out photography bags like Peak Design 30L Travel Bag, Carry Cubo LEV24 or maybe even the Mous Extreme Commuter 25L. All are very well padded
Perhaps it's my outmoded brain, but to me, a duffel is a single compartment, top-loading bag. This bag is more like a bulky messenger to me. Anyways, I don't like that TSA pull-out pocket. I think it's meant for your pants pocket contents when going through security. But why wouldn't you just put those contents inside a more opaque pocket? With that see-through pocket with red detail, it screams "important stuff here, steal me!". I think having that laptop section is too prescriptive. For a regular single compartment duffel, for laptop protection I would put clothes on the bottom and top; and place my laptop in a padded sleeve in the middle. In that situation, all of your clothes would be protecting the laptop anyways without the separate compartments. If you aren't traveling with a laptop, just remove the laptop and its sleeve and then you have one big compartment with unrestricted space utilization.
I think the TSA pocket is actually for you to put things from your pockets (phone, wallet, chapstick, coins, etc.) so you don’t lose them and you remember to take them out of your pockets. At least that’s what I remember from their video about the duffel….
@@Nomads.Nation Probably! I wouldn't remember to use it either. When I fly, I use a sling on my chest in combo with my travel pack so I have nothing in my pockets to forget.
I just can’t understand a duffel for one bag travel over a backpack. Duffels are for short haul carries from the gym to the car, not hauling around for travel IMO
@Nomads.Nation Yes. I'm giving you the option to sound better in in your videos. Of, course you can option out of taking my advice. I enjoy your reviews but l wince whenever you say 'color options'. It's not an option for me.
🔥 Check out the bag I made 👉🏼 go.nomadsnation.com/fyro-t22

Got it, but still feels gimmicky to me as I’ll just put that stuff in the tray. But then again maybe I’m just lazy lol

Good to know!
I always liked the laptop in the middle thing.
me too, its so unique and works impressively well

i would definitely secure a vest or a tripod with the side buckles
Ah yes that makes sense
Nice duffel. I wonder if those two “compression” straps across the top are long enough and intended to tie down a jacket or something?
Good looks!

could work great! Again, I wouldn't ever travel with a duffel, too much weight to lug around, but if you like duffels it could be a nice combo

TSA pouch is for the crap you’re always carrying through security :). Phone, wallet, AirPods, passport, etc. not for liquids. - Always Wander
maybe im lazy but I'd just put all that stuff in the tray lol
TSA won’t listen to anyone.
my thoughts exactly
Free advice on not being a duffle bag traveler. Keep living because your body will let you know
true dat
You don't have to say color 'options'. Just say 'colors'
that’s certainly a verbal option
@Nomads.Nation It is but it's more elegant and not redundant like your option.
@@Palanibert so you are saying the elegance option is a good verbal option when discussing color options?
