That is the first time I see a LED bar integrated with the automatic headlight system, very well done Fredrik..awesome work and the system seems to react faster than a human
This is the sort of technology that I didn't expect to be excited about, but, omg it will make such a difference over here in Australia where you want as much light as possible at night for all the wildlife without blinding the one other poor bugger coming the other way. Awesome stuff Fredrik
Any way you could show or explain where you hook up the Modernum to the onboard Canbus? Is it a plug adaption of do you open a plug and insert the 2 wires?
I think its awesome you just meet people on the way that are very willing and enthusiastic to show their cool car tech. Frederik has obviously spent some time figuring it all out, so if anyone is interested this is a great starting point. Very relevant for the channel and gives a nice community vibe to it. Excellent :)
Wow! Now that's awesome. Amazing how quick they react.. it kinda looked quicker than stock, as if the extra illumination helped the detection.. And, of course, when the road ahead is curved it will take some more time to detect the oncoming car, but it didn't seem bad at all.
You need to mount the ledbar above the numberplate, maybe in the grill. It makes a big difference. Specialy on a hilly road. Mounting it low down makes a big lightfield right in front of the car, not where you want it.
@@sjoroverpirat Doesn't matter how it's designed, you can't bend the light over hills and bumps in the road... That isn't to say that some lights work _better_ than _other_ lights when installed low, but ALL lights, also this, _will_ work even better when installed higher. You get less shadows, more even light pattern, better throw, but much more importantly, you get less illumination right in front of the car that damage your night vision and draw your attention too close to the car. It's not coincidence that pretty much every LED-light manufacturer including LAZER have the light exactly 1 meter above the road when they take beam shots.
Awesome! 👍 For those who drive in countries where this is legal, especially in the dark winters, this worked brilliantly. I wonder when Pixel Led will be available again for new orders... 🤷♂
@@biboKralle Not available at the moment at least - "chip shortage" (I think American orders might still come come with Pixel LED, you'd have to check)
Very nice 👍. The only point I can see is the difference between headlights with led bar switching to low beam, it’s a huge difference and your eyes need to accommodate to a sudden low light? Anyway in france too much traffic to even put high beam most of the time ;-) so no need ;-)
My experience is that the new cars with lowbeam led(or matrix) is now so good that the difference from high to lowbeam isn’t that hard for the eyes. As an older car with yellow halogen lights could be. But I can understand if you living in the central city, the need of ledbar isn’t such big. As in Norway or here in Sweden! The laser linear 18 elite is awesome, I love it!
Nice ! In Denmark Its not legal you will get a fine (pretty sure) and they will Call your car to the synshal (Where they inspect your car before it can be legal)
Edit : it work good after a little adjustment of the headlight : no false positive. You dont have issue on the highway with little white réflective sign ? You dont have false positive ? I've a 2014 V60 with factory bi xenon and adaptive high beam with shadow technology. I swapped D3S xenon to led and H9 to led. The result in high beam is good, but on highway there is too much light réflection from the little white sign so the camera switch off the highbeam because it look like oncoming trafic for the system. It work great on classic road, but on the highway its hawfull. Maybe its dépend of the country, don't know if others have also these white sign at about every 100 meters.
If i use my automatic highbeam assist in combination with the lightbar The system turned off the highbeams By every reflective road sign because the lightbar produces that much light. I’m from Holland so as you know, it’s a roadsign after roadsign after roadsign It’s like a disco 😅😵💫😵💫
The dream setup would be to have Tesla to activate the active matrix on model 3 and integrate it with this setup on the lighter. Do you know if its legal in Denmark? I found a lot of conflicting info on this online. When I call the Danish DMV they are also not sure and revert to the default answer "the car is only legal with the factory approved equipment" Useless... Does the LED bar work similar way in low beam or is it just on and off? I know you can get two different models, the regular Elite and the Elite with Low Beam Assist (I-LBA) Also, when you flash the high beam does the LED bar light also or is it just when using it in auto mode? On another note I havent heard you speak of is the change in color temperature in the middle of the Tesla headlight beam. The blueish middle stripe. No-one is talking about the reason for this.
Nice thing to see. Great light is no match to great light + ledbar. Especially when connected like this one. Does pixel light turn back on when trucks come behind hill and turn off the roof lights? And if so, would it fire the bar too?
Question; Can this adaptive night light be improved on cars via software update from their respective manufacturers? So the sensors read present conditions and reacts just a bit faster.
Of course. Improvements and fixes are frequently made. Many car also supports over the air updates and the car updates itself overnight. No need to take a trip to the dealer usually.
Can you make videos on old S and X lights, can they be upgraded? How to adjust them? High beams should be much higher. Led bars have too much light near the car. Suitable aux lights?
If you can see it lit - then it's too slow. You're already blinded. In 99% of night driving I can recognise when a car is coming and switch to low beam few seconds before I see their lights. An experienced human driver is aways better than a chip or a camera reacting to direct light. It's about time any additional aftermarket headlights are made illegal. We're all getting slowly blind by these overbright LED lights. Also, when you constantly switch between super bright and not so bright - your eyes get tired faster.
Hi Björn, Will you ever make "2nd hand Tesla buying" video for 2022? It's been a while since the last one and yours truly is in the market for one soon ;) Would be interesting to hear your opinions now that more Model 3's and even the Y are on the market. Is the Model S still worth it compared to 3? How are current prices inflating due to price increases from Tesla or increases from the global market? Thanks!
Its great to be able to share that this works. Thanks for having me!

Lazer elite 18 are designed to be mounted low.

It seems when your source light is overpowered the reaction is improved, a bit like the idea of night vision?
Shame all the newer ps2s don’t have matrix leds. I’m hoping we can retrofit later.
Are u going to test maybe the renault electric att some time in the future, , they are already on sale in sweden and norway!!

Neat bracket also for the Lazer, bought where?
Not sure if this complies with UK regulations for car lights.
Freaking awesome
The light shape literally removing light just where the car is, is that the original setup from that brand, or was that part of the LED bar setup?
