@@thomasboushier2972 I am aware of what I’m watching. It was my understanding that in college, you are down when you initiate the slide. I’ve seen it called many times this year in college ball.
@@beantown4life If you as you so eloquently put it "F the rule" then you will have QBs learning the Kenny Pickett fake slide left right and center knowing that DBs cannot hit them without risking a targetting call and they won't get called down.....pretty sure every defender would hate that.
The ACC shouldn’t exist either lol. Sec and big 10 are college football and then there’s everyone else who thinks they’re even close to competing with the SEC 😂. The big 10 isn’t even close to the sec. Sec is the powerhouse, always has been, always will be, and you all can love it or love it
My jaw dropped at the end of the video. What a terrible decision by the refs. Even if you are giving yourself up, you have to maintain control of the ball to the ground to end the play.. Well I guess not anymore. By that ruling, a quarterback that takes a snap in victory formation is down the moment he starts to bend his knee, not when it hits the grass/turf. I simply disagree with that. What a sad ending. Not saying West Virginia would've won, they literally threw a game ending interception. That could've happened again. All I'm saying is they should've been given the chance.
That's a pretty nice high-school stadium. I wondered why WVA didn't want to hang onto the ball, or tackle? They must have learned that this season. With seven losses, they had their chances, too.
I watched the replay of that interception/fumble. He wasn't down when the ball came out. I graduated from Memphis, but I hate to see a game end on a BS call like that.
Watching it at regular speed, the first time, I was thinking to myself, 'I don't know.. that looked pretty close. He might have been down.' Then I went back and watched it at 25% speed and immediately thought, 'Oh, never mind. That wasn't actually close at all.' It wasn't even one where you need to go back and look from multiple angles, just that one was plenty. Dude's knee was still a solid 8 inches or so off the ground. There was no question at all whether or not it was a fumble.
@@jsmith3798 The issue wasn't that the ball was out, it was that He was initiating a slide which means he was giving up, He starts the slide at 12:21 with possession and by rule 4-1-3-r, (When a ball carrier obviously begins a feet-first slide. Rule 4-1-3-r, "When a ball carrier obviously begins a feet-first slide. Any time a ball carrier simulates or fakes a feet-first slide, the ball should be declared dead by the on-field officials at that point." The player at this point had possession of the ball when he simulated the slide, therefore the ball is considered dead. Good call but also a good play to continue the play by WVU to get the ball
Originally thought the last call was horrendous but because of Kenny Pickett’s fake slide a few years ago they made it to where as soon as someone initiates a slide they are ruled down.. Doesn’t feel like the right call especially when it was a bone head play to not immediately go down.

Anderson from Memphis nearly cost his team the game. He ran for a first down and then went out of bounds with under two minutes to go. If he had stayed in bounds, West Virginia would have gotten the ball back with less than 10 seconds left. It seems like these kinds of players always make low football IQ plays, whether it's dropping the ball short of the goal line, running out bounds, committing drive-extending penalties...
😠 When Memphis kicks a field goal at 5:36 , the scores are Memphis 17 - West Virginia 7. The score should have been Memphis 20 - WV 7 after the field goal. Instead the scores are Memphis 20 - West Virginia 14. At what point did WV score the second touchdown? Again, very sloppy work ESPN. I'm blocking this channel.
This is the first G5 loss for the Mountaineers since 2003. I know they got screwed on the fumble call, but YOU CAN’T JUST LOSE TO A G5 TEAM NO MATTER HOW GOOD THEY ARE! I hate being a WVU fan so much! Bring on Rich Rod!
