Well Mike, you probably don't know this but famicom disk games were rewritable. Essentially there were kiosks inside of convince stores where you would give the machine money and your Famicom disk and it would let you rewrite the disk as another game. In fact, that's how all the Castlevania games were originally released. It was pretty cheap too, the disks were only about $3 and to rewrite it as another game it would only cost anywhere around $3-25.

Captain Karnage Also worthy of note: transportable systems were a pretty big thing for a while. the idea wasn't that you'd play the system on the move, but that you could, at least, take the system with you.
As anyone who spent time away from home would tell you, being able to take your system was a definite plus.

Captain Karnage Damn man Nintendo was way ahead of the curve in the 80's. Honestly that whole idea is kind of awesome. A really clever twist on renting/owning games before the internet.
TheTurnipKing Ya just watching there doki doki panic video showed that the tech was kind of janky. It was still a really clever and innovative idea though. It's too bad it didn't work better. We could have had redbox style kiosks for buying games decades ago.

The Framemeister is pretty kick-ass. Do you have the latest firmware update? It adds a delay you can set so it doesn't freak out as much if the game switches resolutions and some other shit. Adjusting the various menus to get the best picture can be cryptic but I've had good luck with mine so far.

There's LOTS of amazing famicom exclusives. Two games that I would totally have expected to make their way out of japan was "Choujin Sentai Jetman" and "Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger" which could both be localized as Power Rangers games, especially Zyuranger considering that's where most footage for the show is from :)

Sean Connery Turned down Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I think he quit acting because he figured he was going senile.
That is kind of the reason. He kept turning down these big hit fantasy movies, so he said "The next time I get offered one of these things, I'm taking it". And it was League. So he just said "fuck it" and quit acting.

Bright Spark Yeah. I understand why a lot of the people who loved the graphic novels were not a fan of the movie. But the movie by itself was pretty OK. Not absolutely amazing but it was pretty fun and mostly well done overall. I think it's just one of those movies where if you were a fan or talked to a fan who disliked the movie then you'll be more likely to jump on the hate train.

James/Mike- ya'll want one of the hardest/most obscure/best games there is on NES you've probably never heard of? I stumbled on this one as a kid and I HATED it because it's just cuz its such a good game but you can't fucking WIN! . But the music is top notch, the gameplay is solid and also somewhat unique, so it doesn't get stale, and the frustration/happiness levels you get are pretty balanced if you're a true hard core gamer. The game is called 'Conquest of the Crystal Palace'. I know you guys probably get a lot of requests, but this isn't a request. After seeing this J&MM I remembered how cool it was to find titles that were good and also different, so this is more of a tip. Try that game one day. From Me to You guys. Thanks for everything :)

Totally Radical This is exactly what I thought it was. The game’s levels are dull compared to Metal Gear on NES. I tried playing it and just felt like the level design was too confusing.

That whole Yellow Famicom business: I've actually never seen a Famicom in person that didn't have that yellow hue to it. I used to think mine was like that because the original owner smoked a lot... but actually, a lot of plastics manufacturers add bromine to their products. Which, when the plastic is exposed to heat and sunlight, causes a chemical reaction that turns them yellow. A lot of Super Nintendos you see have the same yellowing. A good fix to this is to remove all of the plastic shelling and clean it with hair bleach.
I used to watch King Kong vs. Godzilla every morning before preschool. I loved that octopus fight scene.

Speaking of Zelda. I still wonder the Konami LaserScope (helmet) would work on the NES version of Zelda the same way as the "speaker control" does on the Famicom.
By speaking in to the helmets microphone, you should (theoretically) be able to kill thees bats/keeys(?)
We got a lot of bootleg NES cartridges when I was growing up. Every electronics outlet had lots of those in the bargain bin. On the front, there was usually a picture of an anthropomorphic fox in medieval clothes, and on the back there was the sticker that showed you what game it was. These were actual games, just unlicensed ports of the Japanese versions. TMNT II had this weird sticker of sunglass wearing turtles and it was called "Turtle Ninja II". I still wonder where this trend initiated, but I played a lot of these games in my childhood. They were a lot cheaper than new NES games.

RKO did made the original "King Kong" from 1933. Then WOR-TV (channel 9) used to aired it back in the 1980's during the "Holiday Movie Special" every Thanksgiving and the start of the holiday season. RKO also did the Disney animated films and cartoons when it was under the RKO banner from 1937 through 1954 when a fledgling Buena Vista picked up. They also made other sequels like "Son of Kong" and "Mighty Joe Young". And also RKO also did "The Thing From Another World" and that was from the early 1950's. They also showed the opening credits in the original "Halloween".

I like your 70's "Spider-Man Strikes Back!" live-action movie poster in the Background ...behind James, Mike! (I know that the movie was compiled from a few episodes from the 70's TV Series)...I watched that movie and the movie after that (can't remember the name...but the one when Peter Parker goes to Hong Kong) like a million times as a kid...I had them both on VHS back in Dubai as a kid.
Remember the cool intro jazzy music they used for the show and the movies...LOVE IT!
